"You're done," Maria said. Relief evident in her voice. "No more testimony. No more trials. You're...you're free."
"When?" she asked. "When exactly are we free?"
"The paperwork needs processing. Background checks to close the file. Maybe two weeks. Three at most." Maria looked at Adrian. "Then you can go wherever you want. Be whoever you want. Start over completely."
"And the immunity deal holds? Your superiors won't..."
"They can't. It's binding. Signed. Witnessed. You're protected." Maria smiled. "I told you I'd keep my word. And I did."
