Chapter 16

926 Words
Isabella POV There’s nothing but darkness while the wolf's pair of emerald eyes linger on me. I gaze into them and they suddenly grow darker and darker until they're very familiar chocolate orbs. They disappeared and there’s darkness. I opened my eyes to find myself in a giant field of pink carnations. The sweet aroma from them fills my senses and a calm washes over me. I closed my eyes and inhaled deeply when I suddenly heard a very familiar laugh. Wide eyed, I turn in the direction it came from and I know I’m in a dream. “Mom!” I yelled with excitement. She continued to look at me with a gleam in her eyes, she waved to me then blew me a kiss. I ran to her, but when I’m within arms reach of her, she disappeared. I look around frantically and see nothing but carnations for miles. I drop to my knees and start sobbing,”Moommm!!” And fall into darkness again. I open my eyes again and see pink and blue wisterias cascading around me. Through the radiant flowers I see the full moon and a light breeze passes by, giving me the chills. I’m fixated on the moon, as if it’s calling my name, and I can’t tear my gaze away. I suddenly see two dark figures coming towards me from the base of the mountains right under the moon. Two pairs of glowing green eyes stare me down. As they draw nearer to me, I recognize one as the wolf I almost just crashed into. The light of the moon reflecting off his dark chocolate fur. Standing flush against his side is a slightly smaller golden light brown wolf, they appear to fit together like a puzzle. They’re a foot in front of me when they finally come to a halt. I should be afraid right now, but I’m not. I feel complete and safe. I reached out to touch them when I was once again pulled into darkness. I hear the beeping of monitors at first. Then I feel warm tingles on my hand. Finally, that delicious cologne overflows my senses and jolts me back to life. I slowly fluttered my eyes to a dimly lit hospital room. As my eyes adjust to my settings, I feel a low throb in my head. I went to rub my face with my hands when I realized one of them was being held by someone. I slowly turn my head to my bedside and see the handsome stranger that has been occupying my thoughts for the past couple days. “How are you feeling?” He asks with concern. I hadn’t remembered how deep and sexy his voice was, I was slightly aroused instantly. “I’m okay. What happened?” I croaked out, trying to not be aroused. What the hell is wrong with me? He let go of my hand and stood up to pour some water into a plastic cup for me. He handed it to me,” you were in an accident. You must have been trying to avoid something in the road because you crashed into a tree.” He tells me. The memory comes rushing back of the big beautiful wolf I almost collided with. I decided not to tell him about it, he probably wouldn’t believe me anyway. “Well it must be a small world if you’re the one that rescued me.” I chuckle and he cracks a smile. I swear my insides are melting. How is it that he stirs something so intense inside of me? Our eyes connect and everything around us fades. It feels as if there’s only us two and nothing else. I’m pulled away from the moment by someone clearing their throat, I hadn’t even noticed anyone come into my room. I turn my head to its direction and see a tall slender woman with burgundy hair and porcelain skin. “Well I’m glad to see you awake, Ms. St. Claire. I’mDr. Grey.” She said and smiled brightly at me,”luckily you sustained no more than a mild concussion, but I would like for you to stay for observation for the next 24 hours.” “Whatever you say, doc,” I clicked my tongue and winked at her,” so I’m assuming since you know my name that you have my belongings? Could I get them please?” “Of course. I’ll have someone bring your belongings. Alph- Axel, May I have a word please?” She nods her head motioning to go out of the room. I look at her confused while the sexy god, who I now know is Axel, stands up to follow her out. I watched them walk out, they’re so close to each other their arms are rubbing together as they walk. I feel a twinge of anger that she’s standing that close to him. What the hell? I continued to glare at her from my bed, I wished I could hear what they were talking about. As if a fairy were around to grant my wish, I suddenly am able to hear them. “… her blood is not only human. It has aspects of werewolf genes, but not completely….” I heard Dr. Grey tell Axel. My eyes widen in horror as I tear my gaze away from them and out the window. Werewolf genes? Werewolves are real? And more importantly, am I one?? I couldn’t even fathom the possibility and what it entailed.
