Chapter 11

Axel POV

The next morning, I sent my trackers a mental image of my mate through our mindlink. Although it would only last a couple of days, I advised them that she would smell like me slightly since we were intimate.

Each passing moment, I grew more anxious. If she’s human, she shouldn’t have been able to hide her scent. So either she’s pretending to be human or something bigger is in the works.

I keep thinking about last night. The heavenly feeling of being inside her, of tasting her, and damn is she beautiful. And the fact that she claimed me with a hickey on my marking spot just made me all the more impatient to find her. I'm surprised she would have the urge to do that since it’s a werewolf thing.

I slightly cringe at the thought that she wasn’t a virgin and the possibility that she’s taken other men in a club bathroom like that. I hear Aztec grumble in the back of my mind at the thoughts.

Calm down, Aztec. She’s human, she doesn’t understand the importance of a mate. And besides, I’m not a virgin either, so I wouldn’t expect her to be. Although a bit upsetting.

He just huffs in response. I know he’s frustrated, as am I. We’ve been waiting to find our mate for so long and when we do, she slips through the cracks. After chasing after her from the bathroom last night, I had caught her scent at other bars around club Flash. Her scent was faint though, so I just figured she and her friends had gone to those other clubs beforehand. I decided it would be better to rest for the night and send out my top trackers to help find their future Luna in the morning.

I was sitting in a small cafe finishing up a cup of coffee when Dimitri, my best tracker, mindlinked me that he found something. He gave me the name and address of the place and headed over.

I pulled into the parking lot of a breakfast/lunch place called Sunny’s. I see Dimitri waiting for me by his car in the parking lot.

“What cha got Dimitri?”

“I came across your scent mixed with another’s. I scanned the restaurant as soon as I caught it, but didn’t see anyone that looks like our Luna. She must have just left before I got here.”

“Well it’s a start, thank you, Dimitri.” I mindlinked the rest of the trackers.

Dimitri found a lead, everyone. If you don’t find anything else by noon then just head back to the packhouse. Thanks.

Yes, Alpha! They all replied in unison.

“Since we’re here, Dimitri, want to get a bite?” I smirked at him.

We were getting ready to leave when I suddenly felt this burning pain in my chest. The pain traveled down to my stomach and made me almost throw up everything I had eaten. I buckled over in pain trying to breathe when I saw an image of my mate in my head. She was doing something with someone else causing the mate’s betrayal.

“Alpha, are you okay??” Dimitri asked me with worry. I slowly picked myself back up, it’s over.

“Yeah, I’m okay now.” I replied bitterly. How could she be with someone else after we were just together last night?! Aztec starts to snarl. Luckily, I think it was just a kiss. It would have lasted longer if it was more than that.

I sighed and rubbed my temples, this woman is already driving me crazy. Is she worth it?
