Chapter Twenty Jerry had just pulled open the fridge in his wife’s cabin, but the only thing there was the beer he’d bought and a sandwich on a plate covered in plastic wrap, which looked fresh. He was sure Taz had made it in the event he returned hungry. “Nice,” he said as he lifted it out along with a beer. There was a tap on the door, and it opened. Naomi stuck her head in. The swelling around her nose had gone down, and the bruising was not as bad. Her glasses didn’t appear to squeeze her face anymore. “Are you busy? Do you have a second?” she said, her blue eyes showing her vulnerability, her voice lacking in confidence. “Sure, come on in. Where’s Taz?” he asked before taking a huge bite of the ham and cheese sandwich, which was better than anything he’d ever grabbed from a deli. “
