Nora and Adam — A Small Misunderstanding
“Absolutely!”
Nora smiled and said,
“Adam, I had no idea you were in the clothing business.”
Adam replied,
“I actually started my business with clothes. And Nora, if the quality of the fabric isn’t good, how can a business survive?”
Nora nodded.
“Yes, we provide very good-quality fabric at reasonable market prices. I’m sure you’ll like it.”
“Absolutely. We’ll find out once we start working together.”
Max smiled and said,
“Alright, let’s start the meeting.”
After the Meeting...
Adam started the meeting, but after it ended, his mood seemed strangely off. He didn’t stay at the office for long and left for home early.
Nora noticed him leaving and asked Tia:
“What happened to Adam?”
Tia shook her head.
“I’m not sure. His mood hasn’t been right for the past few days.”
Ava quietly said,
“I think it might be because of Max.”
Nora looked at her in surprise.
“What makes you think that?”
Ava replied,
“Adam’s mood changed after Max came back. And today, he left for home immediately after the meeting.”
Then Ava reminded Nora,
“Max used to like you in college, remember? He always cared about you.”
Nora stayed quiet for a moment before replying:
“Ava, that was all in the past. I love Adam now.”
She picked up her things and said,
“Come on, let’s forget about all this. I need to go home. I’ll talk to Adam when I get there.”
At Home...
After work, Nora came home earlier than usual.
Adam was sitting on the sofa, reading a book.
Nora walked over to him and asked,
“Adam, why are you in such a bad mood?”
“Nothing... I just felt like coming home early today.”
Nora looked at him carefully.
“Adam, there’s still something wrong.”
“Nora, it’s nothing.”
“Adam, is this because of Max?”
Adam slowly closed his book.
“Nora, please stop bothering me.”
Nora became frustrated.
“I’m the one who’s being bothered! Your mood hasn’t been right, you barely talk to me, and now I’m getting disturbed too.”
Adam finally lost his patience.
“Yes! How am I supposed to feel better when Max is around you?”
Nora stared at him in disbelief.
“You’re suspicious of me? You don’t trust me?”
“That’s not what I meant, Nora. I just don’t like the way Max looks at you or how comfortable he is around you. I don’t like it at all.”
Tears began to form in Nora’s eyes.
“But you don’t trust me! Do you really think I’m going to leave you and go with Max?”
“That’s not what I meant...”
Nora shook her head.
“I don’t want to live with you anymore.”
She grabbed her bag and headed toward the door.
“Nora! Open the door! Please, listen to me!”
Nora opened the door and walked out.
Adam followed her.
“Nora, please listen to me!”
But Nora didn’t stop.
At Ava’s House...
Ava opened the door and was shocked to see Nora standing there with a bag in her hand.
“Nora? What are you doing here at this hour? And why do you have a bag?”
Tears rolled down Nora’s cheeks.
“I don’t want to live with Adam anymore. He doesn’t trust me... and I can’t stay with someone who doesn’t trust me.”
Ava gently took Nora’s hand.
“Okay... come inside first.”
Nora quietly walked in.
Ava looked at her and asked,
“Are you hungry?”
Nora wiped her tears and replied,
“Yes... I’m really hungry.”
Ava smiled softly.
“Come on. I’ll make you something to eat.”
Nora nodded.
“Okay...”
Neither of them knew that this small misunderstanding was about to change everything between Nora and Adam...
