EPISODE 8 — THE PARTY
The next morning, something unexpected happened.
The same company returned.
The representatives entered the office.
This time, their attitude was completely different.
They apologized.
The fabric had performed extremely well in market testing.
They wanted to finalize the partnership.
I couldn't believe it.
Adam looked at everyone.
"The deal is officially finalized."
Everyone cheered.
I smiled with relief.
After weeks of work, the project had finally succeeded.
That evening, the company held a celebration.
Everyone was invited.
I spent a long time choosing my dress.
Finally, I chose a long red dress.
When I arrived, Tia immediately smiled.
"You look amazing."
I laughed.
"Thank you."
Then I saw Adam.
He was standing across the room.
The moment he saw me, he stopped.
He didn't move.
He simply stared.
Tia noticed.
She whispered,
"Someone is impressed."
I tried not to smile.
Adam eventually walked toward me.
"You look beautiful."
"Thank you, Sir."
He removed his coat.
Then he placed it gently over my shoulders.
"I'm not cold."
"I know."
He looked at me.
"But I like you this way."
I stared at him.
"What does that mean?"
He smiled.
"Nothing."
Before I could ask more, someone called him.
He walked away.
Later that evening, another man approached me.
"Would you dance with me?"
I smiled politely.
Before I could answer, Adam appeared.
He took my hand.
"Dance with me."
The man stepped away.
Adam led me onto the dance floor.
The music was slow.
His hand rested gently on my waist.
I placed my hand on his shoulder.
We moved slowly.
Neither of us spoke.
Then he leaned closer.
I could feel his warm breath.
Our eyes met.
For a moment, the entire room disappeared.
There were no other people.
No music.
No noise.
Only us.
Adam looked at my lips.
I felt my heart pounding.
But then he stepped back.
"It's late."
I nodded.
"I'll take you home."
During the drive, neither of us spoke much.
When we reached my house, I opened the door.
"Goodnight."
"Goodnight, Nora."
I stepped out.
Then I turned around.
"Adam?"
He looked at me.
"Thank you."
"For what?"
"For tonight."
He smiled.
"You're welcome."
I went inside.
That night, I couldn't sleep.
I kept thinking about him.
About the way he looked at me.
About the way he protected me.
About the coat.
The dinners.
The late-night calls.
The kiss.
Everything.
And finally, I made a decision.
I was going to tell Adam how I felt.
