Chapter 4 An Irresistible Itch

1159 Words
Annie's voice was as soft as a mosquito's buzz, but before she could finish her words, her whole body traced a perfect arc in the air, and then with a thud, she fell onto the soft bed. Although the fall didn't hurt, her brain experienced a momentary short circuit. Annie quickly sat up, and as she turned her head, she saw Aaron striding towards her, filled with intense anger. Instinctively retreating, a flash of fear crossed Annie's dark eyes. Aaron's bloodthirsty and dangerous gaze made her body tremble uncontrollably, and before she could utter a word, she was suddenly grabbed by the neck by the man in front of her. "Annie, you left work early today just to sell yourself?!" The feeling of suffocation made Annie's delicate face turn red, and she frantically slapped Aaron's hand, but that hand felt as if it were rooted in her blood; no matter how hard she tried, it wouldn’t budge an inch. With tears welling in her eyes, she couldn't help but cough twice, responding intermittently, "I... really... didn't!" Aaron's sharp brows furrowed tightly, and just when Annie felt she was about to be choked to death, that hand finally loosened. Her fragile body collapsed onto the soft bed, and Annie gasped for breath. After taking a good ten seconds to catch her breath, she finally regulated her breathing, leaving several red marks of varying depths on her fair neck. The grievance in her heart burst forth; why did no one believe her? What had she done wrong? Tears slid down from her reddened eyes, leaving traces on her smooth cheeks. Seeing her heartbreaking and sorrowful appearance, Aaron's heart trembled, but when his gaze landed on the extremely revealing clothing Annie was wearing, it instantly turned icy cold. This conflicting feeling made him increasingly agitated, and his cold voice carried an authoritative tone: "No crying." This sentence drifted into Annie's ears, but instead made her cry even harder; her silent sobs turned into soft whimpers, and eventually, she burst into loud cries, like a child who had lost their candy. Aaron's sharp brows almost twisted together, and stepping forward, he cupped Annie's small face in his large hand, roughly wiping away the tears that kept falling. The scorching temperature stung his fingertips, and from his angle, he could just see the alluring sight beneath Annie's revealing clothing. Desire ignited in his eyes, and with a slight exertion of force, he pushed Annie down onto the bed. Aaron gave her no chance to resist; his cool lips, with a chilling touch, kissed Annie’s tear-streaked red lips. The salty taste mingled between their lips, and Annie's dark eyes widened instantly; she forgot about her tears and could only stare blankly at the handsome face so close to her. Feeling that Aaron seemed to want to get even closer, Annie finally reacted, pushing hard against the man's chest with both hands. Memories flooded back—the same place, the same time, everything was just like that night. She would never forget the heart-wrenching pain of that night; her pupils widened in an instant, fear pooling in her eyes, which then erupted into a surge of strength. Annie used all her strength to push Aaron away from her; in a daze, this man was the one who had assaulted her that night. Without thinking, Annie raised her small hand and slapped Aaron's face; the sharp sound resonated, and her palm tingled. After slapping him, Annie quickly took a step back, wrapping herself in the heavy blanket, and shouted loudly, "Don't touch me!" Aaron was completely stunned by this sudden slap; he had never expected that the usually docile and obedient little woman in the office would actually hit him. This made him furious; his dark eyes fixed tightly on Annie, his large hand clenched, wishing he could drill a hole through her with his glare. The atmosphere was extremely oppressive; the air felt thick with tension, and just then, a sudden knock on the door broke the silence. Annie continued to sit on the bed, crying, while Aaron stood by the bed, standing still like a statue. For a moment, the knocking felt especially jarring, and the person outside continued knocking insistently. Finally, Aaron moved his body and walked toward the door. When he opened the door, a delicate, fair face appeared. Bernadette stood at the door, her face lighting up with a smile. Upon seeing Aaron, she widened her smile, her joy evident on her face. Her melodic voice chimed in: "Aaron, you really are here!" Aaron grunted in response, then fell silent. Bernadette was already used to his indifferent demeanor and said casually, "I heard from people at your company that you came here right after work, so I came by to see you." Bernadette succinctly explained her reason for coming. In fact, she really wanted to go in and see how disheveled Annie was, but the man in front of her blocked the door like a wall, completely obstructing her view of the scene inside. A glint of something unusual flashed in her eyes, and Bernadette said again, "Aaron, aren't you going to invite me in to sit for a while?" Upon hearing this, Aaron furrowed his brows slightly, but his body blocking the door did not move, and he replied bluntly, "It's not a good time." Hearing this, Bernadette mentally cursed Annie again. She never expected that the manipulative person would be in such a state, yet he still protected her; what a seductress! Bernadette wasn't about to let this opportunity slip away. With a sweet smile, she quickly took advantage of the height difference and bent down to slip past Aaron's arm. As soon as she stepped into the room, she saw Annie sitting on the bed, like a lifeless doll, crying helplessly. This brought her a sense of satisfaction, but she feigned surprise: "This..." Aaron's thin lips were tightly pressed, his dark eyes fixed on Annie's face, his expression was complicated. After a long while, he coldly said, "A female employee from my company who doesn't know how to keep herself respectable; I have a few things to say." Upon hearing this, Bernadette also feigned a heartbroken look and walked directly in front of Annie. "You shouldn't do this in the future; why compromise yourself for money! What if you end up getting sick?" These words might sound like kind advice to outsiders, but as a fellow woman, Annie could easily detect the sarcasm and disdain in her tone. And by saying this, she only reinforced the misunderstanding that she was selling herself. Suddenly raising her eyebrows, Annie glared at her fiercely and shouted, "I didn't!" Bernadette took in her disheveled appearance, unable to hide a smirk, but her dark eyes were instantly filled with tears, with tears welling in her eyes, looking utterly aggrieved. "You... I'm doing this for your own good; why are you being so harsh? "
