My pulse quickened as the rustling became even louder, causing my knuckles to turn white as I gripped the branch in my hold tighter.
A familiar figure emerged from the shadows of the large trees. When I sighted who it was, relief washed over like a tide and the grip on the beach loosened.
"You scared me." I exclaimed fearfully, still feeling the rush of emotions from earlier as my legs weakened under me.
Alec had an apologetic expression on his usually serious face, "I apologize. Are you okay?"
