It wasn't a ray of sunshine that woke us up in the morning, but a mobile phone ringing. At first I didn't understand whose mobile it was, then I found a ringing phone on the bedside table with my hand. They were calling Lena. I wonder who? I looked, it said "Brother". Strange, do you need money from your sister again?
- Hello?
"- Where is Lena? Who are you anyway?"
- Lena is sleeping, do you need to tell her something? - I didn't even know how to introduce myself.
"- Do you work with her or are you sleeping?"
- I don't get it, are you calling her in the morning to find out who she works or sleeps with? Doesn't this conversation seem strange?
"- Where is my sister? Do I urgently need her?"
- Igor? Who is calling so early?
- This is your brother and he is in a bad mood. Are you going to talk to him or should I answer myself? - he asked in a whisper so that we wouldn't be heard?
"- Hey, hello, where is Lena?"
- Answer me yourself, I don't want to argue in the morning, - she kissed me on the cheek and lay down next to me.
- Yes, tell her what to tell her and she'll call you back.
"- Okay, tell her to call me back urgently. I need her help, and maybe you'll tell me who you are?"
- Tell her that you're my husband. He won't leave me alone, will he? - Lena whispered to me.
- I'm her husband, what else?
"- You can't be her husband. I would know about it. Listen, give her the phone, I need to talk to her!"
Lena couldn't stand it, snatched the phone out of my hands and hung up. She turned off the phone completely and put it on the shelf. She lay down on my shoulder and I hugged her, pulling her closer to me.
- I thought this conversation would never end. I really liked it when you said, "I'm her husband," and felt a kiss on your shoulder.
- I didn't even know how to introduce myself from the start. But it's nice, my wife," he kissed her on the top of her head.
- What are our plans for today?
- What can you suggest? You're the hostess here.
- It's 6 a.m. now, we can lie in bed for a while, then have breakfast. Of course, I haven't figured out what to cook yet, because I don't know your food preferences. Then we could go out into the yard, I'll show you the gazebo, the stove and the barbecue, and also the garden and the pool. I bought some meat, we can have a picnic after dinner. And in the evening we could have a movie night. How do you like our weekend plan?
- Great, I'm delighted. Just promise that I won't just be around, but will help you?
- Of course, you will participate in everything we do, - Lena stood up and kissed me on the lips.
There was no passion in this kiss, only tenderness. So we basked in bed until we heard a knock on the door and the neighbor's voice.
- Lenochka, good morning. Are you awake?
- Oh, I'll go open the door for Aunt Sveta, - Lena stood up, threw on her robe and went to open the door. - Good morning, Aunt Sveta. No, we are not asleep, we were about to get up. Did something happen?
- No, what are you saying. I know that you wake up early, but I wasn't sure now. How is Igor?
- Everything is fine, he is resting in the fresh air.
- Why did I come, you know my son, so he is here now, and I talked to him about your stairs, so that it would be convenient for Igor to go down. Do you mind that I'm bossing you around right away?
- Oh, what are you saying, I'd be happy to help you. I'm not an expert at this, and Igor definitely won't be able to do anything. Do you need me now or can we have breakfast and go help?
- Semyon just woke up, so let him come to you later, and in the meantime I'll think about lunch for all of us, okay?
- Okay, we're waiting for you to visit.
I see, the plans for the day have changed a bit. At least there's something to do, and not just sit on Lena's neck.
- Did you hear that the plans have changed a little? - she asked, entering the room.
- Yeah, it's okay, we'll spend some time together and do some chores, don't worry, - he lowered his legs from the bed and started getting dressed. - Give me some time to get myself together, okay?
- Do you need help? Or can you do it yourself? - and I had already forgotten about my pants, because Lena was now standing completely naked with her back to me and was looking for clothes in the closet. - Hey, can you hear me?
- Yeah, I think I should do everything myself, otherwise we'll go back to bed, - he got into the stroller and went to the bathroom, and I heard light laughter behind me.
Breakfast was held in a light, relaxed atmosphere. We joked, laughed, and cooked together. The idyll was interrupted by some man. He was a little shorter than Lena, plump and serious. I think he was Aunt Sveta's son. What kind of neighbors are these? They don't let me rest in peace in the morning. He didn't go into the house, but stood at the porch and shouted to us.
- Mistress, good morning, - I wouldn't say, but okay. We started walking towards the exit of the house with smiles on our faces. - I came to help you with the housework.
- Hello, Semyon. It's been a while, meet him, this is Igor.
- Hi, yes, my mom has been buzzing my ears about your man, - we shook hands. - Nice to meet you. Well, tell me what you need to do here. I took the tools with me.
- Igor, let you sort things out yourselves here, and I'll go clean up the house and the kitchen. If you need anything, shout, - Lena bent down and kissed me on the cheek, and ran into the house.
- It's unusual to see her so happy. You know how much I ran after her, but she only had school. I'm happy for you. Okay, I won't chat, let's get to work.
And we got started. First, we measured the steps, put pencil marks where to put the "rails" for the stroller. He handed me the tools, suggested which would be more convenient. I tested the descent, it was convenient, Lena wouldn't have to drag me around all the time.
We walked around the yard, looked, maybe there was something else to do. Not finding anything, we decided to sit in the gazebo. It turned out to be behind the house. Quite spacious, a large table and soft chairs to the right of the entrance. And to the left there was a brick oven. Someone did a great job, it was done beautifully. Not counting the fact that there was a grill and an oven, there was a tabletop. I drove up, ran my fingers over the brick. It would be great to cook something here. Maybe I'll be able to surprise Lena.
We spent lunch with friendly neighbors on their terrace. Their house was well-kept, but not as richly furnished as Lena's. It was obvious that the owners put their souls into their corner. I got to know Aunt Sveta better, she was there for my Lena's grandmother when her husband died. She helped in difficult times. And her son did all the men's work around the house and yard. Closer to three o'clock in the afternoon we decided to go into the house so as not to bother the neighbors, they had already done so much for us.
I drove into the house myself, Lena was just watching to make sure nothing happened.
- Well, will you give me the opportunity to try out your stove in the gazebo? - dinner has not been cancelled yet.
- Do you want to show me what kind of host you will be? I am all for it. Let's go to the kitchen, will you marinate the meat?
- Of course, this is a man's job. You can think of something for the side dish, so be it, - laughing, we went into the kitchen.
A decent-sized piece of fresh pork was placed on the table in front of me. And at first I was thinking about whether to cut it into pieces for shashlik or make steaks. I decided on steaks. Of course, this is not marbled beef, but this will do.
While I was cutting the meat, preparing the marinade and getting everything ready for frying, Lena had already decided on the side dish. The vegetables were washed, something was boiling. She was so immersed in her thoughts that she did everything automatically. Okay, I won't distract her, I'll go outside to cook the meat.
I cleared the grill near the stove, prepared the firewood. I looked at the time, while I was making a fire, the coals would burn out, it would be just in time for dinner. And now I was busy with my business and did not notice anything around me. When I realized that it was time to go for meat, the table was already ready for the dishes. Tablecloth, plates, cutlery and champagne glasses. A housewife. I like it.
An hour and a half later, dinner was ready, I put the meat on plates, and Lena was opening a bottle of champagne. She put on a light dress, fortunately it was warm outside, but she still grabbed the blankets.
- Am I allowed to drink alcohol? - I drove up to the table and looked closely at Lena.
- Don't worry, this is children's champagne, let's pretend that we are children. Well, shall we sit down at the table? Since everything is ready.
We had dinner in a relaxed atmosphere. So topic after topic, we sat outside until dark. I learned about her childhood, told her about myself. I had already moved to sit next to her in the corner of the kitchen. Lena moved closer to me and leaned her sideways against me. I hugged her with one arm and took her hand with the other.
- So, will you marry me?
- You won’t calm down, right, until I agree? – she said with a slight laugh.
- I’ll ask you every time we’re together. Don’t worry, I’ll get my way, - I kissed her on the top of her head and relaxed.
It was clear that she almost agreed. All that was left was to press a little, or just pester her with this question.
Our weekend was easy and memorable. We worked and rested so harmoniously that one could think that we were husband and wife on vacation. The main thing is that our idyll does not end quickly.
