“Baby girl?” I call but still there’s silence so I open the door slightly
“Baby girl, can I come in?” I ask but I’m met with sniffling noises so I walk inside. I find her in the closet sitting on the floor, crying.
“Oh baby, what happened?” I ask sitting down next to her, my hand instinctively rubbing her back
“I’m fine, I’ll be right out” she says wiping her eyes and nose
“No, you’re not. Please baby girl, just tell me what’s wrong” I plead. She looks up, her eyes are red from crying but it’s the fear in her eyes that catches me off guard
“Amala, why are you scared?” I ask cupping her face with both hands my eyes not leaving hers

“Why? I’m here” I state but she shakes her head
