Invitation

Adela returned home with an accomplished feeling “what are you so smiley about” Brandon noticed Adela was humming. “I found the perfect space for my shop and closed the deal, all in one day. Even so, I also scored a date for tomorrow night!” Adela giggled. Brandon was apprehensive but if his sister was happy then he was happy. “We’ve only been here for two weeks and the men are already falling for you” Brandon said while rolling his eyes “shut up. What do you both want for dinner. I’m in a good mood to cook something nice so this is your chance!” Brandon decided he wanted Parmesan crusted lamb with roasted asparagus. Clarence wanted pizza and Adela decided pizza was better. “I’ll order it now” Brandon went to grab is phone defeatedly. Just then Adela’s phone chirped and when she looked at it, there was a text message from Onne. “Hello Ms Adela. Ive been thinking of what kind of date would be of a perfect enough setting to bring you to but what way to show you a perfect time other than closing down one of my restaurants and I cook you dinner. How does that sound? If there are any minor adjustments please do let me know. Hope you’re having a lovely night” adela was blushing by the time she finished reading the entire message. She couldn’t believe a man would want to do so much for her, especially one that looked like Onne. Small red bells went off in her brain because she wondered what he was hiding. What did he really want. Adela decided that they’d still be in public where she was comfortable but also the setting would be intimate enough for her to still feel special. “Your idea is awesome and I am excited. No adjustments, just tell me the time and place. Also what is the attire I need to wear?” Is what she texted back but Onne just called her “H… Hello?” She was confused as to why he would call he if he had jus texted her “Sorry, I texted you because I assumed you’d be eating dinner. I like your voice and much rather hear it than reading a text” he liked  making Adela giggle “the attire I as casual as you’d like it to be and like a gentleman I want to pick you up if that’s okay with you. I promise I wont try anything” he hoped she would trust him enough to let him pick her up. In the hours since she left his office, he felt horrible thinking of killing her. He even felt sorry for using mind compulsion. He never met someone so sweet and genuine yet guarded and sharp. Adela didn’t understand what her qualms were with him coming to pick her up. It was a normal thing. But hey, you don’t learn unless you leap. “Uh… sure. What’s really the harm? You seem nice enough” Onne felt happy and wanted desperately to make up for the impression he gave her earlier. “Don’t worry Adela, I’ll be on my best behavior from now on” they said their goodbyes. Onne felt this could be a start of something. He had tried to help is father set up a community four years ago, but the man was a tyrant and two years into the making his father grew impatient and turned people into Feeders without their consent. Onne ran away. He was weak compared to his father, and with his father turning people into feeders he then built an army and would kill anybody who opposed him. Onne went into his kitchen and took a jar from the fridge and drank the thick dark liquid. He despised his father for not being able to overcome his evil intent. Being the oldest Feeder, naturally his father believed that he should be in control of everything. Onne felt he was foolish and it took him three hundred years to finally see through his father’s manipulative bullshit. He couldn’t remember his mother, it had been a long time since she died but Briana was very much like a mother figure to him. Briana was a woman Onne’s father took captive and turned into a Feeder. That was the last straw for Onne because Briana was innocent and it was only that she happened to be related to Hunter’s that he turned her. Onne’s father said that a Feeder with Hunter instincts would help him win many wars. Briana was the farthest thing from a Hunter and ultimately just became a concubine for his father. When Onne escaped his father, he took Briana with him. He chose everyday to make up for having to live for eternity against her will. Adela would have been theirs to feast on but Onne would fin someone else, Adela was someone too fascinating to him to be eaten. “You’re in a cheerful mood this evening. What’s gotten into you?” Briana was standing in the doorway holding out her hand for the jar Onne had in his. “I met a woman today and she’s allowing me to atone for my sinful thoughts. Gonna cook her dinner tomorrow” Briana just smiled because she could sense genuine giddiness from him and indeed Onne was excited “I’m going to ignore the sinful thoughts comment. What’re you planning to cook for her?” Onne didn’t know what she liked, that’s why he suggested closing one of his restaurants. “Well Julius is going to let me borrow his restaurant so I can just make what she wants with the ingredients he has. I don’t know what this feeling is. Feeders shouldn’t like Humans but I cannot stop from enjoying her company. I’m anticipating it” he was stumped. In the three hundred years he had lived, no woman ever really caught his attention. In the last fifty years he stopped chasing after women all together. Something about Adela peaked his interest, and aroused him both physical and mental feelings. “Onne, just for right now try to have a conversation with her. Your father used to tell me stories of how you would treat Human women..” Onne covered his ears “Stop psyching me out! I haven’t been with a woman in the past fifty years. I admit I was going to bring her back here for us to feed, but I feel should could be like one of us… maybe I’m getting ahead of myself. I don’t know. Is this what love at first sight is?” Briana just shook her head. Onne was much older than Briana but he didn’t have a normal life, no understood human feelings and emotions. Feeder’s felt things either at an extreme level or didn’t feel at all. Maybe this woman can help him. She felt Onne never truly had the chance to live while being under his father’s control.      Adela spent the next morning and afternoon preparing an outfit. What was too casual and what was too flashy? Did Onne consider what he had on yesterday to be casual or was that flashy? She finally settled on a baby blue off the shoulders dress and a pair of thigh high chunky heel boots. She had been taken out on a date before but it wasn’t anything serious other than trying to pass the time but since she decided Elliot was her past, she would take dating a little bit more seriously. “Hey, Brandon come look at this furniture I want for the store. Its so old and weird. I love it” Adela showed Brandon different glass display counters that would set atop of marble and she also showed him a marbled matching table with dark blue velvet table chairs. “Its very much your style” Brandon just smiled. Their tastes were very different but he was most of all supportive. “Your outfit is so cute! I’m going to be hiding behind the door when he comes because I want to see what he looks like. Keep you location on too!” Adela snorted “He’s a little weird but a nice man, he’s not going to murder me. I hope” Adela burst out into laughter. Adela was receiving a call “Hello?” It was Onne on the other line “Hi, Adela. I’m about five minutes away. Are you ready or do I need to come inside to wait a little” Adela got a little flustered “Uhh, you can come inside for a minute. I’m okay with that” Brandon rushed down stairs to rush and look out the window for the man taking his sister out on a date. He saw a black car with black tints park and a well dressed man. Dressed in a black short sleeve T-shirt, the sleeves were rolled up onto his shoulder blades which Brandon found out for it was January and although it was warm, but only warm enough for a long sleeve sweater. He had black pants and black boots on to match. His skin looked so smooth like one of those skincare ads. Alarm bells shot off into Brandons head and he blushed when Onne met his eye contact. “Hi, you look like Adela so you guys must be related. May I come in?” He flashed a bright smile. Brandon held open the door but didn’t say anything and Onne just stood there. “What’re you doing Brandon, let him in! Onne come in and sit on the couch I just have to find my purse” he had finally been invited inside. “A lovely home you guys have” he said to Brandon
