12. I Want To Know You More

1492 Words
NICHOLAS Yes! I finally said it. Shock? Well, of course, she's shocked. But I can't blame her! Who wouldn't be shocked when they hear that someone plans to kill them? "Fool... Such a fool... Why did you say that to our mate?" says the voice inside me, but I just smirk. Feeling that I'm doing the right thing for once. After all, mate or not, from the start I should have never gotten involved with Alexa Nicky. The incidents starting from the soup, the train, the bush – all that happened because I still had my human side, and it was only a matter of time until I lost it and became a monster. And all of that was proven by how I lost control and almost sucked her dry. "Well, since I've already told her the truth, I should leave now. I expect her to keep her distance too…" I think before turning around and leaving. I don't know why my chest feels a pang at the thought of never seeing her again, but I brush it off, telling myself to move on. I even replay the scene in my head about how I almost sucked her dry yesterday, and how I got a punch for it. Well, I must thank the dog for that because if not, Alexa would be dead. ‘...But why do I feel so much guilt though?’ However, before I can truly leave… "...Why do you want to kill me?" Alexa Nicky suddenly asks me. Did she just ask her future killer? "Huh?" and when I turn around, she's already standing in front of me. Closer than before. I hitched trying to block my sense of smell as her sweet scent of blood mingles in my nose, and I feel my body getting hot and feverish again when I see her sweet plump lips and how her cleavage rises and falls in that tight cardigan. "Looks like Nicholas Alexander has a match now, huh? Well, I think I like this mate. She's worthy of you! Should we…" "SHUT UP!" I snap at the voice, but it's too loud as Alexa flinches. "Nicholas…?" f**k… "Why do you ask…" "Huh?" I gulp as my dead heart starts beating, and I don't f*****g know why my supposedly f*****g cold body becomes hot whenever she's near me, but I have to finish this quickly if I want to leave. "I said, why do you ask?" I say harsher than I intend. "Why are you curious, and why does it matter if you know my reason for wanting to kill you? Shouldn't you run or at least call the police?" I ask softly at the end as I can't think of any other questions, and I f*****g swear I sound so pathetic! Alexa tilts her head, and I almost go crazy when I see her delicious white neck, and before I can get even crazier with her sweet blood scent, her next words send a jolt through my whole body. "It's because…" "I want to know you more, Nicholas." "What?!" I ask, clearly dumbfounded. Did I just hear it right? Alexa wants to know me?! I see her lowering her head, and I don't know why her face is turning red. ‘Why can’t I read her thoughts either?’ I think, realizing that all this time my mind has been calm as if I'm alone whenever I'm with her. Is my body starting to rot? "Well, it's because I'm just curious, Nicholas." "I don't know why, but I'm just curious, and even though you did 'that' to me yesterday… I somehow believe you didn't mean to." "It's like, that wasn't you, and you were just kind of controlled… Well, I don't know how to explain it clearly, but I'm sure you're a good boy, Nicholas. And you… won't hurt me or even intend to do that." And her last words leave me speechless. Good boy and won't hurt… When was the last time I heard someone say that? "Definitely my mom…" I murmur, and before I can get a hold of myself and end this nonsense… A sudden loud rumbling sound is heard. I don't know why I instinctively pull Alexa into my embrace, but what's clear is… I have to protect her. "...What's that sound?" she asks, a little shaky like a furball, and I can feel how tense she is in my arms. I sniff the air, and smell dog's spittle. "It's the wolves." "WHAT?!" I see her eyes widen, and I frown, realizing she's scared. Why is she scared if she's been living with them all this time? "It's wolves, and they're coming here. We should run before they—" and before I can finish my sentence, the door is opened roughly, and two wolves enter! ‘s**t…’ I curse when I see their size. From their large bodies and how unfocused their eyes are, I know they're rogues. "Nicholas!!!" I hear her shriek, and once again I'm shocked by Alexa Nicky because she pulls me behind her. Is she trying to protect me? "Come, follow me," I decide, before pulling Alexa back, returning her to the position behind me. I push her to run, but because she's too slow, I decide to grab her hand. Just f**k it if her scent will tempt me; her safety is my top priority now. After running several blocks, we finally arrive in a room that 'new humans' usually call the janitor's closet. I tell her to go in first, before entering myself, and I feel like I almost die when I smell how delicious her scent is, and how I don't have a way out as she quickly closes the door. "f**k…" I curse as she leans closer to me and my c**k accidentally brushes her belly. "Why are there wolves at school?" she asks. I feel her hands clutching me tighter as the sound of running footsteps gets closer, and I don't know how I'm going to restrain myself from devouring her. ‘But when was the last time I felt warmth like this? I never knew that human warmth was this good, damn it…’ "...I don't know. Maybe because they're hungry?" "Why? Do you think it's a werewolf and they're students?" I chuckle, trying to ease the tension so she won't be so nervous, although my head screams yes. Why don't I just directly tell her that it's a werewolf? And I see how her face becomes even more tense when I say werewolf, and when she start to claws me, I decide to lie. "Yeah, anything can happen. You know how Fordland is very close to the forest, so it's only natural." I try to calm her, but it's not enough. She's still scared. "Maybe it's just a wild wolf, and it happened to come in because it thought the school was a den you know how stupid the architects are," I add, and I'm relieved because now she's less tense. "I see… Haha, well, I hope so," Then, as we stay inside the locker, Alexa looks very wary. I notice how she stops breathing every time a wolf passes by, and to be honest being cramped with her like this kinda reminds me with our time in the bush, ‘But the difference is, her hand isn’t clawing at my mouth.’ I silently smile before frowning. Now that I think about it, I feel stupid. Usually, if there's a wolf or anything attacking me, I usually just brush them off, using my inhuman speed or anything to save myself. But why didn't I do that now? "It's because you don't want to scare her, Nicholas~ She's your mate, and you don't want her to see you as a monster~~" whispers the devil in my head, and I immediately shake my head. No. That doesn't make sense. If that's all it was, I could just erase her memory. I could erase the memory of the whole school. "But why can she still remember you about the soup incident? You hear how she could ask about your condition, and not to mention that she still remembers yesterday's events…" "She could even tell you're a good boy, and you were under the influence of lust… Are you sure she's not your mate? You're not even this lustful with blood even though your whole life is always surrounded by humans! The damn walking blood banks!" And I gulp when I hear the devil's last statement. I can't answer it because I myself can't fathom it. Why am I this bloodthirsty even though the whole world is a blood bank? "Is she a hunter? Is she a witch? Why did she…" and before I can think of any reason, I notice Alexa not breathing again. Her eyes are staring at the wolves with an unreadable expression, and I feel my head get hot when she mentions that bastard's name. "Jacob…"
