Brooke could feel Leonidas’ wolf slow down beneath her as they approached the outskirts of Violence. The sun had almost disappeared behind the horizon by the time they arrived, and she was stunned at what they found.
It was as though the apocalypse had descended upon this circle of Hell. Buildings were ablaze before their very eyes, and a thick haze of smoke billowed upward into the twilight sky.
What the hell is this? she wondered apprehensively, unable to take her sights off the insanity taking place.
Brooke shuddered, since it turned out that what Leonidas had told her was right. As they reached the city’s edge, she noticed that Leonidas detoured to the left, keeping to the outskirts of the realm instead of going directly through it.
