Xander came out of the shower with a bare chest, drying his hair with a towel .
His phone rang on the bed. “ Yes , Frederick , tell them I will be there in no time. Stop bothering me with calls I am not running away. “
He said aggressively into the phone.
“ Sorry sir , it is not about the investors. “
“ Then what ?”
“ Our rivals , their products have skyrocketed overnight leaving us with a very slim chance in the market space “
Xander furrowed his brows
“ I would be there , but before then everybody's hands must be on deck I won't tolerate lackadaisical attitudes “, with that he hanged up
“ s**t “, he tossed away his towel
Dialed a number then dressed up and rushed out of the room .
“ Good morning sir “, the Veronica greeted
“ Good morning darling “, Victoria came out of the kitchen area with a pot in hand and attempted giving him a peck which he rejected.
Mr and Mrs Lee were already seated at the table
“ Good morning mom ,
Good morning dad”
Mrs Lee ignored him
“ Dear Son , are you in a hurry, won't you have breakfast “
“ No dad , I will have to get going there issues I need to take care of at the company “
“ Hope it is nothing big “
“ No dad, I can handle it “
“ Mom?” , Xander called to get her attention
“ Victoria, you'll take his food over to the company later in the day “ , Mrs Lee said, not looking at Xander .
Victoria smiled happily , bit her lips her eyes met with xanders’
“ Mom , that will not be necessary, I can eat at the cafeteria, good bye “, Xander started out
“ If you won't allow that , then I don't plan on talking to you anytime soon , I have lost my appetite “, with that Mrs Lee left the table .
Mr Lee looked away. Xander walked out of the mansion , then his phone beeped
“ See you soon , darling “, with a live emoji from Victoria.
Xander clenched his fist and almost threw away his phone , a call came in again and he got into his car and zoomed off.
Victoria kept trying different outfits and none that suited her taste as she stood in front of the mirror twirling round to look at her butts , breasts and shape .
“Urghhhh”, she exclaimed as she made her way again for the umpteenth time to her wardrobe .
“ Yeah , this looks better “, she said, running her hands in her petite shape .
“ This looks great right “, she smiles brightly and sought veronica’s opinion, who came in to inform her that the chauffeur was set
“ It is very ok ma'am” Veronica said , not looking , a bit perplexed by Victoria's politeness.
“ Alright, I always choose the best anyways , everybody at the lee group will get to see the wife of the lee group’s president today , she needs to look fabulous for them to feed their eyes”, she said proudly smiling into her reflection in the mirror .
“ Ma the chauffeur……”,
“ I know what you want to say and I will be there “, Victoria cut her short excitedly.
Veronica bowed and left the room .
“ What strategies would be imputed to regain our stance in the market space as it is now our chances are very low , our rivals are gaining grounds “ , the manager hinted during a board meeting at the lee group.
Xander was seated at the Ceo's spot with eyes roaming around calmly, as if expecting an answer from somewhere.
“Ahem “, a discreet clearing of the throat punctuated the silence from one of the staff as he took a deep breath.
“ I think we need to do a reevaluated of our demographics, are we still dealing with the same audience 5 years ago , has their preferences changed”, Antonio said with a voice confident
“ We can also collaborate with complementary businesses, influencers”, he turned and faced the CEO, Xander, “ I also recommend that we invest in our brand to appeal to our audience “ with Antonio leaning back in his seat . Xander rarely approves their suggestions but he was confident enough that he said what needed to be said which would bring the desired effect if implemented.
The conference room became silent again , everyone silently awaiting the CEO's response to the suggestion proposed.
“ Is that all ?” , his hoarse but gentle voice came by after much silence
“ Yes sir “, the chorused
Xander leaned forward with his elbows resting on the table and fingers interlocked, he swallowed with his face as expressionless as usual
“ We've implemented these strategies you've mentioned already , which means we have to double our effort”, he paused , faced down
“ You guys aren't working “, everyone jerked as Xander shouted at the peak of his voice hitting the table and standing up .
“ So what do we do about our rivals , any more suggestions Antonio”, he said sarcastically
Antonio bowed heart beating , praying silently ot to lose his job .
“ Now listen to all of you , I will handle the rest , I want all of you to get to work , double your efforts, else some of you will be relieved of your jobs “, Xander barked at them and stormed out with everyone standing , heads bowed.
“ The CEO is so unpredictable, a moment he's calm and another moment he changes into an angry lion”, Amelia whispered into Sylvia's ears
“ Shhhhh, this is the wrong time for gossip” , Sylvia hushed her and walked away leaving Amelia making faces at her .
Xander paced around in his office , fingers clenched into a fist after pushing down some stuff in his office , throwing punches into the air , breathing heavily .
His Secretary walked in “ sir someone is here to see you “
“ Who”, Xander answered sharply casting a piercing look at him sending chills down his spine
“ You…your… wife , Mrs Victoria “ he managed to say .
There was an awkward silence , he had forgotten so soon what happened in the morning. Victoria suddenly barged into the office sending thundering looks at the secretary
“ Don't you ever keep me waiting or your work would be in jeopardy “, she thundered , “ leave our sight now “, the secretary rushed out .
Victoria took her time to feed her eyes with the serenity and beauty of Xander's interior , with a proud smile on her lips
“ What do you want “, Xander asked suppressing the burning tension in him
“ Oh my darling “ Victoria echoed like she just realized that he's been standing there all along .
“ Pardon me , as the wife of the CEO of this prestigious company I had to take my time “, Victoria voiced, advancing seductively towards Xander.
“ If you get any way closer I will kill you “ , Xander swore under his breath with a damn serious face .. Victoria perceived the seriousness in his tone and stopped in her tracks stepping on something , when she looked down and saw everything scattered on the floor she realized it wasn't good timing yet she was not willing to give up so soon.
“ Get out of my office right now “, Xander said, turning his back on her .
“ I am going no way my darling “, she kept it on settling on a seat “ your mom said I must have you eat or possibly feed you , you know she won't like it if you disobey her and me “ she said boastfully
Xander grabbed her forcefully by the hands , dragged her out of his office with Victoria struggling to free herself .
The staff taken aback watched in disbelief as the two kept struggling , suddenly his phone , he ignored then on the second ring
“ Who is this “ he barked into the phone while Victoria kept struggling to free herself already embarrassed
“ Sam , Samantha , the girl from the bar “, came the soft , peaceful voice that always makes him feel so different….
