Morning came with a hammering headache and a swirling stomach. A loud, hammering noise penetrated through my skull. How could my headache be this loud?
The noise continued and it took me a moment to work out it was my phone vibrating on the nightstand. One glance at the screen had me groaning. Why now?
I picked up Mum’s call, already dreading the lectures and faux-life lessons she was going to give me. “Hi, Mum.”
“Hello, lemon drop. It’s been a while. How are you?”
With a sigh, I sat down on my bed. “It’s not been that long, we spoke like two weeks ago.”
“That’s a long time for me. So what’s new in your life? I saw a picture of you on that website, what’s it called… FaceView? Did you gain weight again?”
