CHAPTER 5
When the girls stumbled into the kitchen the next morning looking for coffee, they found a large pot already made and waiting for them. Dora and the children were already at school, and Rafe was at work, but Dora left them a note telling them to help themselves to cinnamon buns. They were being kept warm in the oven.
Maddie pulled the plate of cinnamon buns from the oven and, taking her coffee with her, sat at the table and began eating one of the buns. She offered the plate to June, and she and June sat at the table and savored the coffee and the delicious buns. After a few bites, Maddie groaned.
“These are so good,” she said.
“Ummm,” agreed June.
The doorbell rang and Maddie took her bun with her as she went to answer it. She opened the door to find Liam and Jason standing
