CHAPTER 13
They met Blake outside the judge’s chambers the next morning. He looked amused to see such a large crowd, but he did not say anything. He led the way in and motioned for everyone to take a seat. The judge was not there yet. June and Jason clutched hands. This was a nerve-racking ordeal for them. Their whole lives depended on the judge’s decision. Even though everyone told them not to worry, they could not help being apprehensive.
Blake stood up when the judge entered, so everyone else stood, also.
The judge smiled at them and made a motion with his hand. “It is nice to see you, Mrs. Haggerty. You may all be seated. This is an informal hearing,” said the judge.
