Family tours

    The family tours were significant portions of Kani's life. Kani's family was such a big family both from his mother's side and father's side. Kani's father's side family used to go to their family deity temple at Tuticorin district, during February, during Mahasivaratri occasions. There, they used to worship their family deity named God Ayyanar. It would be a nostalgic moment for everyone in their family. The whole family would assemble before their grandfather’s shop and Kani's grandmother, mother, and aunties do come there and prepare delicious idlies and different kinds of chutneys for the entire family on beforehand. All do their works like an ant and they move here and there in doing their works. 

    The luggage would the first thing to get inside and after arranging them in neat order, the family gets into the backside of the van one-by-one. They used to go by the van, owned and driven by Kani's father. They leave their home place by early morning at 4 AM. After that, they would just sleep inside the van before they reach Tiruchendur in the early morning. There, they have a good bath in the sea and worship lord Murugan. Then, they start off to their family deity temple and soon reach there by mid-noon. The family deity worship was an auspicious thing for everyone in their family. Wherever they go, they used to go with their family.

    During midnight, people used to chant slogans and mantras on the deity and they spend the whole night without sleeping in that way. 

    The very next day, they then go to a place called Arunjanai Kaatha Ayyanar temple, situated few kilometers away from their family deity temple. That place would be like a paradise! It was full of greeneries and coconut trees all around. The temple also had a pool full of water to swim. As soon as, they saw the pool, Kani and his relatives run like anything and they used to have a cool bath over there. 

    In the meantime, Kani's mother and his aunties used to prepare tasty 'Biryani' for the family and they too would come and join with the family in their bathing. After having bathed for an hour, they used to come out of the pool with their minds still on the pool roaming around. They then used to sit in a row and have their lunch. After that, they go and worship the god over there and return to their home town by the evening time. On the way, they also visit the Vetkali Amman temple. 

    Finally, they all come home late at night. During the travel journey, they used to have singing, chatting, making fun of people, etc. Every time, they finished off their tour, they long for the next tour to come soon. 

    Another spot, they used to go with their family was the Rettiyapatti. It was a small village and the birthplace of Kani's grandfather. Every year during July, the family used to go there and spend quality time there. Once, the family even tied up speakers on both sides of the van and enjoyed by hearing the songs throughout their journey. 

    Kani liked this place also for another reason. He had a small crush on a girl who used to come there every year as Kani's family does. She was a beautiful girl with a decent look. Kani just used to sight the girl but never knew her name and he also put any efforts into knowing her name, details that and all. Just he used to watch her when she was not watching him. Like sight-seeing! He had a small place for that girl in his little heart. Kani can't say that as love but something closer to that, a kind of affection to say it in general. 

    Not that boys like all the girls they come across in their life. But someone would be always special. They need not show care on them, love them, but just one single smile can give them a million times happiness! Nothing wrong in that until and unless our approach holds good under all circumstances provided the girl gets no harm out of it! Love, in terms of feelings, it's complicated but in reality, it's meaningful. Maybe it is quite boring. Life is all about everything, also, everything that we come across is worth in life, including love.
