Disoriented and blinking away spots, Eric slowly came to. His head throbbed with a dull ache, and the ground beneath him felt damp and uncomfortably cold. He pushed himself up on shaky arms, taking in his surroundings. Gadot lay sprawled unconscious a few feet away, her face pale and drawn. Panic surged through him as he scrambled to her side.
His heart hammered in his chest as he gently nudged her shoulder. "Gadot! Wake up!" His voice came out hoarse and strained.
A low moan escaped her lips, and then, slowly, her eyelids fluttered open. Disbelief clouded her eyes as she took in the scene around them. They were no longer beneath the colossal Thrud Tree, but in a clearing some distance away. Several Green Guard soldiers were stirring, groaning and muttering as they regained consciousness
