The stone shower ceased, causing dust and particles of broken brick to fill the air. Thane was spread over the floor, or more accurately, what was left of Midnight. The assault had torn him back to his human shape, a jumble of limbs and excruciating agony. Grumbling, he tried to push the lightheadedness that was about to swallow him under.
Fearful eyes wide, Serene stumbled off the bed. The vines had stopped growing unrelentingly as they sensed she was awake. Relief washed over the shadow alpha as he saw them stop moving.
