Project Schemer: Higeki's chapter: Requiem

Arc 2 - Chapter 5: First awakening.

"Someone exploited the name of Nulv right ?"

"Something i already expected, they will use this name to eliminate anyone they wanted, as long as our allies or potential allies are not their target... i will need to speed up the plan."

"The risk is low... no... it could be..."

"I just gave the city a tool to let them destroy my future allies. But this could be that one boost that we need to speed up the plan, i believe you also found some sector who also wanted to become our allies ?"

"I am not some nerds, sector 5, 7 and 9 will arrive at the haven. Now i am thinking, why the city constructed sector 15 this big."

"Maybe this was some sort of storage, they are the furthest from the city so no one would paid attention to this place."

"Maybe, how about do some research, let see what below us."

"Lambda is working on that right now as we speak."

"Alright, i will go to sector 10 now. Please inform me about every other sectors."

Sector 10, they are similar to sector 2, they don't have a gang and people protect themselves, there are leaders but they just act as a council that suggest solutions. People decide everything through voting and the city doesn't have anything to do with their decision, but they remain a good relationship with a lot of sectors and gangs so wouldn't hurt to try. Sector 10 also have a lot of doctors but somehow they still travel all the way to sector 12 to ask for my aid, i always like people who ask me for my favor so nothing wrong with that. 

"Doctor !"

"Something wrong ?"

"We pressumed the city attacked us the the name of Nulv."

"But how do you know the city attacked you and not Nulv."

"Because we know one thing they didn't know, we know you are Nulv doctor, there is no need to hide it."

"... How did you ? and anyone else know about this ?"

"Only we know this, and we also know, the m******e in sector 8 is your play. One of the boys visit his friend in sector 8 and he eavesdroped your conversation, consider it lucky so we don't forget our true target of our hatred."

"Lucky... Luck is important in this world afterall, how is everyone ?"

"There is no serious injury but we need your help to prevent infection."

"What about the medicine ?"

"The city destroyed our garden."

"...They really choose to go this far... Well, after taking care of wounded people, can you call everyone in sector 10, i have something to discuss."

"Alright. I will go call them now."

"No... I need an assistant. You can call them after everything is finished. There are a lot of procedures and there is no time to waste."

Bullets and cuts on them but it wasn't deep enough and the wound is fresh so there should be no infection. Taking out bullets and stitch the wound, it is strange that no one taught me but i can do everything, three years experience and that is everything that i need. But The city would go that far ? They are heartless but i never have that thought, they destroyed a garden, they are responsible for the current state of Altoris but to think they would go that far. Sympathy for the wicked, to those foolish who chased after perfection and that is what they ask, they ask everyone to sacrifice for a goal that shouldn't exist in the first place.

"How is everyone ?"

"The morale is decreased and everyone is depressed, some even lost their determination."

"This is serious... The destruction of the garden is terrifying, who know what in those synthetic food the city gave us. Rather live as vegan than eat those food, especially after all those news."

"Doctor, do you have any suggestion ?"

"Yes, i do have a proposal, and the soldier strike first so we should retaliate. As for everyone know the truth, i am Nulv and at the same time, i am not Nulv. Nulv is an imaginary child that i created to brought fear to the city."

"We know, we all know the m******e in sector 8 is a stage play and we know someone save them and that gave us hope."

"And i was late, i didn't expect they would act this quick like they are waiting for it."

"Higeki, we found the killer and we are dealing with him right now. Please guide the people of sector 10 back to haven."

"The haven ?"

"It is the place where sector 8, sector 2 and sector 12 are living right now. We can use Nulv and make sector 10 disappear and we can travel to the haven but we need to be quick, and i need to help my friends deal with the killer."

"It will took us a few minutes to prepare but we will finish everything as fast as possible."

Traverse through the storm, sector 10 is the furthest from the haven so we decided to use the tunnel system to bypass any patrol and police from the city. The tunnel system is abandoned long ago, sector 2 used this tunnel system to store and trade weapon, they still use this tunnel system but with Lambda's inventions and the ability to mass produce those inventions, there is no need for trading weapon since the city didn't ban the trade of raw material between each sector. The people live in the city even trade raw material for everything that the garden can grow because of their exquisite taste without knowing the fact that they are slowly harming themselves.

"Careful everyone, the road have a lot of small rubble, i don't want anyone hurt themselves."

"There is something over there."

"... So you are the famous killer, the one who dare to swindle the name of a psychopath. Everyone step back."

"Can you really do this doctor ?"

"I don't know but i felt something inside me."

"You caused enough trouble Higeki, and the city want your head."

"Just know, i won't go down without a fight."

I know far too well, even with all those teaching that Korvos gave me, i can only managed to survive, this is an assassin that work for the city leader after all. It is consider to be lucky to dodge his attack and harm him is impossible but i have my advanatage, live with Korvos and the gang and act as their doctor, i must develop my agility. At least with all that training, it is a struggle to keep up but i managed not to get cut too deep still, it is painful to endure all those wound. Never one moment in my life, i felt like i am a toy, a small rat for some big cat chasing me around but this time, this is an exception. The assassin of the city, they are skilled killer, countless small cut and one almost hit my left eye, at least i can delay a little while to wait for the reinforcement from that mysterious organization. 

My struggle continue, the assassin is agile and also very strong, but a doctor in this ruined world must have a lot of trick under his sleeves. One of them is the medicine that i made, a type of pain killer, disable the ability to feel pain for thirty minutes, inject myself with the medicine relieve pain but i know too well, this is just a temporary method. To cure a certain wound require time and effort and shortcut always have consequences. The medicine only act as a way to bottled up the pain, the moment thirty minutes passed, the body and the mind would suffer all that bottled up pain. 

"Why resisted ? When other assassins is here, none shall escape this place alive."

"Then you underestimated my allies."

"You are nothing more than a lab object, allies ? Don't make me laugh, you are not even consider a human, not even consider as a homunculus, you are an object like every single creature in this slum."

All i heard left because my eye closed and i saw everything though my own eyes, hear something through my own ears, i can't even control my own body because someone else controlling it. I can felt shame and humiliation, and most of all, anger and pride, i can feel an intent to kill, the bottled pain disappear and now what left is anger. But it is not hot as fire, this feeling, the icy cold, the feeling of the cold that cut through your flesh, the anger but most of all the scorn and next thing i hear send fear to every creature.

"This is the last time you speak when i am not allowed you to speak. You may rip my own soul out of my old body and planted it into a new one. You may erase my memories and controling me like a puppet. You may kill my friend and make them into a puppet to fight against me. But in the end, you are a lowly human from a lowly dimension. And who am i, i am a god, a living saint."

And i feel my own body dragged, crystal-clear water expand like a domain under my feet, the water rise and fall formed into crystal. The water in the air formed into countless instruments and along with them are countless blades, the tide of the battle has turned. The battle blade assult while the instruments create waves of bullets, arrows and daggers. Whoever controlling my body right now want to assassin to disappear, he wants to erase the existance of the assassin. The assassins evade the blades and all the bullets and daggers but when he managed to get close to me, a shockwave is released and then countless of icy vines, chains and butterflies appear. The chains bind the assassin and the vines pierce through him, all i can see is the eyes of the assassin reflected fear. A grin on his face, he knows his fellow assassin is behind but "I" created countless crystal spike to block the tunnel, "I" am the one who destroy them and I know what is this entity thinking. This entity is a god, and he felt humiliated by the city leaders, bottled those hatred, he can kill those assassin without remorse.

"You think your friends can save you, they already dead long ago, i am the god of water, everything flake of snow in this dimension is under my command. Remember my words before you fall. Vengeance will be mine."

The butterfly covered everything, they covered the assassin and turned into a casket of ice, even the existance of the assassin is fused along with the ice prison. The entity let out a roar of anger and slam all the blade to the ground, the ice prison shatter into small flakes and that is the moment the pain hit me. The pain make me feel numb and i can't see anything but darkness.
