Upgrade! Gjallarhorn Vigridr (2)

But before my eyes can finally close as a result of this impeding transition into unconsciousness... I see a maroon-hooded individual, approaching me at full speed. Yes, it's the hooded figure again. I try to react with whatever little strength I still have... “Good grief... you haven't shown up for the past few weeks... and now... you do. What kind... of timing... is this?” “it's just great timing. All along, I've monitored your every battle from afar. And now that I know that this alien's packing a greater punch than I expected... it's time.” “Time... for... what?” “These.” With the power of the object they hold, which is obscured by the hood's long sleeves, they conjure a red protective arm brace as well as a hand axe that is engraved with runes. Wait a sec! These are the two exact things being presented in my dream from last Sunday! No sooner does the figure attach the arm brace to my left arm. The brace has its own voice prompt. “Laevateinn Spark Brace!” Obviously, the voice catches Debothledge's attention. “Huh? There's someone else here! Who are you, hooded freak?” The hooded figure stands up, and states succinctly... “Just a mere acquaintance of this guy!” “Whatever! I'm gonna unmake you like what I did to that Gjallarhorn guy!” He then lashes out with his laser shots, which are then straightaway blocked off by a barrier the figure just conjured from the object. And as the smoke clears... ...the red brace revitalizes my bodily energy. I stand up vigorously, clutching the hand axe with my right hand. The figure then instructs me... “Now it's time for your powered-up mode. To activate it, just raise your Laevateinn Spark Brace, and then say the following: 'Upgrade... Vigridr'. Got it? ” “Yeah, I got it.” “And by the way, your axe is named Jormungandr Axe. Alright then. Have fun with your new toys!” The hooded figure then vanishes into thin air, leaving me to my own devices. “Hmm... That hooded freak just left you for dead. Now let's see how that 'upgrade' of yours will do squat to defeat me!” “Let's see about that!” I triumphantly raise the Laevateinn Spark Brace, and say the magic words with a booming voice. “Upgrade! Vigridr!” While electric guitars complement the heroic trumpet in the background... The brace glows, and then does its job of magically repairing my cracked armor... ...as well as adding more armor parts such as handheld bucklers, pauldrons, antennas for my helmet's visor, and even reinforced real-robot-styled front, back, and side skirt armor pieces. It also adds a white cape that complements my original grayish-black armor. Truly, I look more like a medieval knight of yore. With the power-up process complete, I declare... “In this field of battle, my voice of justice shouts the loudest! Gjallarhorn! Vigridr!” The residual energy from my transformation upgrade is enough to generate an explosion behind me. “Bahahaha!!! You just cheated your way for that silly 'upgrade'! But no matter! I'll still destroy you!” Debothledge temporarily abandons his capture of the coveted treasure to charge his gun-arm for one more salvo of Transcendental Flash. But I know much better than that. With my cape's added flight capabilities, I jump so high, and then proceed to finally get that annoying gun-arm out of his hand with a simple downward s***h from my Jormungandr Axe. “NNNNNOOOOO!!! How can you do this to me, you cheater?!” He's now powerless to do anything but to rely on his (honestly) degrading armor for his survival. And now, the axe's edge glows, as well as the runes inscribed on the axe's blade. It's finisher time once more! “Jormungandr Axe, power up!” I brandish and twirl the axe like clockwork as the glowing edge leaves nice-looking trails of light. “W-Wait! Spare me some mercy! I-I won't steal the treasure anymore, I promise!” “Then say that many times to the hundreds of cops and soldiers you've knocked out!” As he continues on begging for mercy, I leverage my arm for a powerful downward vertical s***h. And here it goes! “Ragnarok Cleave!” With a mighty swing, the super-powerful s***h that is generated by the axe's blue flash instantly bisects the monster bounty hunter (as an illusion, but the damage is real), but not until he says his final words... “You will pay for this, Gjallarhorn, if it's the last thing I doooooooooooo!!!” And BOOM! Debothledge's life of plunder has ended for good. Later this evening, I'm able to catch up with the news about the attempted plunder. “Welcome to KTRM News in the Evening. I'm Alistair Bennington. Our top story for tonight: The superhero named Gjallarhorn has successfully stopped the attempt of an alien bounty hunter named Debothledge in stealing the Nonpareil Prism that is currently being displayed at the Rain Marginal Municipal Museum. He was able to do such an amazing feat, considering the alien's immense strength, according to eyewitness accounts. Furthermore, a maroon-hooded person also showed up to assist the hero, but then disappeared after giving him powerful equipment he later used to defeat the alien. It has been confirmed that the hooded figure is the same one who first appeared in front of Wenceslaus Vincent Memorial Medical Center, but their identity is still a complete mystery. In other news... a new antiviral vaccine has successfully passed strict clinical trials...” --- Monster of the Week Information Name: Debothledge Height: 214 cm (7' 0.25”) Weight: 484 kg (1,067.04 lb) [with armor]; 184 kg (405.65 lb) [without armor] Monster Type: Alien bounty hunter A bounty hunter from the planet Bisraj, he was in constant search of treasures from various planets that he could exchange for space money. He was the second monster not to be created by the hooded figure's magical object. One day, he arrived on Earth; specifically Rain Marginal, as he was searching for a huge refractive crystal called the Nonpareil Prism that was housed at the town's municipal museum. With his alien physique and tough alien-made armor, he could withstand most human-made weapons such as swords and guns. The only thing slowing him down was his age; he was estimated to be 500,000 Earth years old. But despite his age, he could still defeat much younger combatants with his quick reflexes and powerful laser shots coming from his technologically-advanced gun-arm. With those combat capabilities of his, Gjallarhorn had great difficulty even scratching him when the two faced in combat; the bounty hunter could theoretically even endure several Crucis Chops and Aesir Kicks and would still brush them off like nothing happened. Only when Gjallarhorn acquired his new form, Gjallarhorn Vigridr, could he finally stand up to Debothlege; and the bounty hunter was finally destroyed with his Ragnarok Cleave.
