22 I still straddled Fenla, but our hands were no longer connected. Instead she spun her arms wildly around her. The mist that had covered Caius now surrounded her and every bite of that terrible fog pecked away at her flesh. One of her flailing arms nearly whacked me, so I rolled off and watched in horrified fascination as her own curse consumed her. Her flesh fell away, revealing her white bones. She pawed at her own face as the skin melted and revealed the same horrible red eyes I’d seen inside of her. In a moment her bony arms fell to her sides and her head turned to the side to face me. Those terrible lights glared at me with that same all-consuming hatred, and the grin was more like a snarl as the light faded, then vanished. I felt a darkness lift from my chest. She was gon
