Chapter 6

Blaine is the one to answer me, “I am guessing we are about nine hours from the pack. We were taken around 9 pm. It looks to be about 8:30 with how the sun is coming through the window. I woke up a little when they were bringing us in and the sun was just coming up.” Anyone can tell Blaine is a tracker. I internally rolled my eyes. He paused and lifted his head towards the window. “And we are by a lake, I am guessing in an old stone structure like a castle”, he mused to himself. “No matter where we are geographically, we are here because of King Alpha Edward. I heard some of the guards talking earlier”, Zander cut in. He wasn't annoyed at all. “It sounds like the old coven castle north of our pack, it has been empty for hundreds of years. The Alpha of the pack was mated to a witch therefore he let her family's coven build on his land. But they never had children and the pack slowly faded and everyone left, moved on or something like that.” They were all looking at me in surprise. Look at me, I did pay attention to pack history. “Anyway…..We have heard rumors that King Edward was taking wolves from packs for his army against his brother,” Carter whispered, as if more to himself. “How is he getting them to fight for him?” I asked, but before anyone of the guys could answer me, the door down the hall opened and the sound of several sets of boots bounced off the stone walls. I hopped down from the bucket and took my spot next to Millie who was still passed out. “Grab all of them and the two girls too,” a deep voice commanded. Keys rattled and then the cell door opened. A deep growl echoed off the cell walls. “We can give you more wolfsbane if that will make you more willing?” That same voice said. Caleb. I could tell the guards were unchaining and dragging out my brothers, Blaine and Jessie. A guy five foot nothing was standing in the doorway to our cell. Once he saw Millie, he beckoned another over, “Hey boss, this she-wolf is still out.” “Leave her” that deep voice rang. Boss? Ummm this guy does not have a pack title like Beta or Alpha, and they all looked rough and smelt even worse than they looked. King Edward must have rogues working for him, not his pack members. The short chubby guard grabbed me by the arm, pulling me from the cell. I tried to pull away, but I was weak and, let's be honest, he is a wolf, rogue or not, pipsqueak or not, I am no match. We turned down the hallway, allowing me to see that there were maybe twelve cells total and half seemed to be filled with people. As we walked, I saw some I recognized from home, others I didn't. Most were laying on the cold floor knocked out, but others looked like they had been through hell. My nerves skyrocketed when I caught a glimpse of one of their backs. His t-shirt had been ripped to shreds and I could see bloody cuts down his back. What are they doing!? The guys were being drugged further in front of me. Zander and Carter doing everything to fight the guards. Despite their efforts, they could not get free. Before they got to the door, the guards turned them all to the left, and they were gone out of sight. My guard took me to the right down a different dark corddoor. We walked down a slope further underground. There were no windows, and it was getting colder and the walls damp. I heard a high-pitched scream and then another, sending chills down my spine. We passed closed steel door after closed steel door until we came to a stop. I was pushed into a dimly lit room, the heavy door shut behind me with a gut-wrenching slam. It took my eyes a second to adjust. There in front of me were two female guards. One was a heavier set woman that had to be about 5 '5, she had black hair that was pulled back into a messy ponytail, and she was staring at me with an evil smirk on her face. The other one was taller, almost my height. She has the sides of her head shaved with spiky blond hair on top. She was fit and looked very strong, she was not a rogue like the other lady. I was guessing she was a warrior from King Edwards's pack. She spoke first “You can make this easy on yourself or hard. You can shift and show us your wolf, or we can make you. If your wolf passes inspection, you will reject your current pack and join Strong Hold and start training as a warrior" She finished, never changing her stance or showing any emotion on her face. “I don't have a wolf” I responded, lifting my chin and trying to sound confident. “Lies” the rogue's smirk spreads across her face. “I can sense it.” “Will you are wrong, I never received my wolf.” “Becca, let's say is gifted, yes, weak and a gross rogue, but she is useful because she can pick up on the presence of someone's wolf”. The warrior female interjected,“ So like I said, you can make this easy, or we can bring out your wolf for you” She turned her body slightly and that's when my attention went to the wall behind them. It was covered with all kinds of chains, wipes, hooks, pliers and more. "Like I SAID I don't have a wolf, the Moon Goddess forgot about it. So Becca must be wrong" My voice was raised this time, trying to sound calm, but my hands were starting to sweat. My stomach turned. “The hard way OK”. The warrior snapped her fingers and pointed to chains on the ground. The rogue stepped towards me, backing me up to the door. She grabbed me and used her weight to drag me back to the center of the room. If I was my normal self, I think I would have enough training. I could have gotten away, but I just didn't have the strength to do it. She clamped my wrists with cuffs attached to chains that were welded to the floor. The warrior had her back to me. She was picking an item from the wall. “ I told you girl that if you didn’t comply I would make you” This lady is crazy. She turned with a small whip-like item in her hand. It had four strands of leather that looked to be braided with small balls at the end. “Last chance” She made her way around me. “You are bat s**** crazy” I spat. Becca hit my knee, making my legs buckle, and I hit the hard floor. They both let out a little chuckle at that. Whope! A direct hit to my back with all four braided stands. My back ached with pain. Whope! Again, this time ripping the back of my dress a little. More pain. Whope! A stinging sensation shot down my back, making a small squeal leave my lips. They paused. “ Are you ready to show us your wolf?” I took a deep breath “I have nothing to show…..” Whope! The pain scattered across my mid back. Whope! She continued to swing the whip, hitting my back again and again. I am shaking with pain, sweat running down my temples. I could feel the blood running down my back, what was left of my dress soaking it up. “ Get me the other one” she instructed Becca. Becca ran to the wall, through blurred vision, I could see her taking down one with several free flowing leather strands. The warrior quickly took to whipping me again and again. The thin strands finding the openings of my ripped dress perfectly, sending a stabbing pain to my back. This is how I die. I was sure of it. The blood sent shivers down my back, the pain so intense I was seeing stars. I don't think they will stop until I am dead. She hit me again and again. I couldn’t take anymore. I sagged to the floor and then everything went black.
