Pirates took mutineers seriously—if they succeeded, they were Captains, and if they failed, they were corpses. Tomas had failed. Prissi reached the main house, snuck through the door. She crossed the main hall silently, where sated sailors snored, seated at the table or laying upon the floor. After this night’s debauchery, many had not even made it to their rooms. One of them reached out and grabbed her ankle as she passed. “C’mere, luv, warm a poor soul,” he muttered. She disentangled herself gently, whispering, “Yer havin’ a dream, matey, sleep it off.” He mumbled, rolled on his back and began snoring again.
