Critique
Euripides' Heracles is established on a deviation
from the standard Heraclean folklore. In most
accounts, he kills his family in an attack of frenzy
from the get-go, and in reparation for this he should
do the works alloted to him by Eurys-
theus. In the current rendition, he completes
the works to win the ideal for him as well as his
father to get back to Argos, from which Amphi tryon was ousted for killing his dad in-
regulation, and it is solely after completing the Twelve
Works that he is made frantic by Hera and kills
his loved ones.
This reordering of occasions has significant
results for the outlining of Heracles' life in
Euripides' play. To begin with, and generally significant, it
makes the homicide of his family the horrendous
