The scene is about earlier than the palace of Agamem- non at Mycenae. Orestes, Pylades, and Orestes’ servant, his elderly tutor, input. The servant factors out Mycenae and its landmarks to Orestes and urges the 2 younger men to form a plan. Orestes remembers that Apollo’s oracles commanded him to perform his vengeance by stealth. The servant is to visit the palace, pretending to be a Phocian stranger, and document that Orestes is lifeless; meanwhile, Orestes and Pylades will make services at Agamemnon’s tomb. Electra is heard from within, crying out in misery, but they determine to perform their tasks in place of ready to pay attention to her. All 3 exit. Electra enters from the palace. She laments the murder of her father and her solitude. The Chorus enters
