Athamas A king of Boeotia. Son of Aeolus. Husband of Ino (daughter of Cadmus and Harmonia). The children of Athamas and Ino have been Learchus and Melicertes (or Melicerta). Classical sources are Apollodorus’s Library (1.9.1–3), Diodorus Siculus’s Library of History (4.Forty seven), Hyginus’s Fabulae (1–5), Ovid’s Metamorphoses (four.416–542, and Pausanias’s Description of Greece (1.Forty four.7–8). Euripides’ Ino and Sophocles’ Athamas continue to exist in fragmentary form. There are numerous, every now and then contradic- tory, versions of the story of Athamas, Ino, and their youngsters. Athamas had two kids, Phrixus and Helle, by means of Nephele (a cloud god- dess), earlier than his marriage to Ino. Ino bore her stepchildren malice and plotted against them. F
