Chapter1: The beginning of the humiliation

Kate was a poor girl who stayed with her aunt who tried to make ends meet. She attended one of the best schools in her town due to her hard work by earning a scholarship program.

This opportunity made her so happy thinking she could finally fulfill the dying wish of her parents and help her aunt but fate other plans in store for her.

On the first day of school she entered the campus with her neat uniform even though she wasn’t really pretty but she looked good. On her way to her classroom she bumped into the hottest guy in school ,Henry( he was a hot senior and from a rich family and a young master of his family, every girl dreamt of being his girlfriend ).

She was still in shock and stared at him like she had seen her knight on his horse coming to save her, she loved him at first sight. The school’s popular clique of girls walked in on this scene and among them was Anna ( a rich heiress who was a senior and also allegedly bethrothed to Henry when they were little because Henry’s parents had financial issues).

Anna was so angry at the sight of this scene and screamed so much that her voice knocked Kate back to her senses and Henry dropped her mistakenly, Anna went over to Henry asking him why he held another girl in his arms but before he could speak a sharp sound of a slap echoed throughout the corridor.

It was Anna who slapped Kate in front of the whole school accusing her of seducing her fiancée,Kate on the other hand was so scared that she apologized countless times and tried to run away but Anna’s clique blocked her way stopping her from running away.

Henry who barely spoke couldn’t stand Anna’s uncultured behavior as usual and tried to pull her to the side to talk some sense in to her but she wouldn’t budge, this got him so angry that his glance at Anna’s friends made them shiver releasing Kate immediately. And everyone departed slowly not be on his bad side.

Chapter2:

Kate went to her classroom to continue on with her day trying to forget everything that just happened but many people talked about the incident and she could barely concentrate on the lectures. Immediately classes were over she was about to leave the campus but came across Anna and her clique bullying another student and decided to hide so as not to be the next person and after they were done the girl who they bullied was left all alone on the floor of the corridor crying. Kate walked up to her and tried to pacify her( her name was Christy and she was a middle class girl and a nerd, she had no friends because everyone thought she was weird) Kate helped her get from the floor and took her to a bench outside the school where they spoke and introduced themselves and became friends, after some time they both departed and went to their various homes.

When Kate got home, her aunt had been waiting for her so that they could both go to the market to sell their products.

In the evening, when the got back from the market she told her aunt everything that happened at school and her aunt told her to stay away from Anna and Henry and she agreed thinking it would be easy but life had other plans in the pipeline.

The next morning, Kate got ready for school and left on her way to class, she saw Christy and they both went to class. During lunch break they went to the canteen and as usual was already there causing a scene. Henry was hardly seen at the canteen so he was free from her tantrums at the moment after break they returned back to their various classes and the principal announced that every student had to join a club for the coming school festival( to celebrate the graduation of the senior students). Kate had always wanted to be a basketball player just like her dad but she couldn’t because the school didn’t allow girls to play basketball so she had no choice but to join the cheer leading in which Anna was the leader. Christy decided to join the science club since that’s where she could express herself freely and they both set off to their respective clubs.

Chapter3: In the basketball club

Henry was practicing for their upcoming games and get festival when his friend Andrew asked him about Anna and how things between them were but he didn’t answer or even glance at him because the name Anna irritated him so much and he couldn’t just get her out of his life because they were betrothed to each other. When Andrew noticed the look on Henry’s face, he shut up immediately and continued practicing. Kate was on her way to the cheerleading club when she noticed the guys practicing and couldn’t help but glance at them she got lost in her thoughts as she remembered when her dad used to teach her how to play and tears rolled down her check subconsciously. Meanwhile Henry noticed her standing by the door and was about to approach her but was stopped by his coach. Kate returned back to her senses and finally got to the cheerleading club already prepared to receive insults and humiliation from Anna and as usual she didn’t disappoint to deliver. Immediately she entered Anna asked her what she was doing there and started insulting her and her parents but Kate couldn’t take it any longer as Anna involved her parents and didn’t hesitate to give her a tight slap across her face, she was about to retaliate when the coach came in and she fell on the floor immediately saying that Kate had just tried to kill her. Kate stood there dumbfounded with no words at all to say so she was kicked out of the club even before she got in and was placed on detention. Few hours after detention, she was about to go home and passing through the hallway she saw the door of the basketball court open and decided to take a look but she didn’t find anyone in there so she decided to play a bit. After playing for sometime, she heard footsteps and she turned around immediately only for to lock eyes with Henry and her heartbeat increased as he stared deeply into her eyes before she could utter a word he asked her to join the basketball club and left without getting her reply. As he left, her heartbeat went back to normal and she left the school campus immediately rushing home.

The next day, Kate showed up at the basketball pitch ready to play but was stopped by the coach and other team members but Henry immediately told them that he was the one who asked her to join them and they let her play but it was made very clear to her that she won’t receive any special treatments just because she was a girl and she nodded her head in agreement, even though she was a bit upset but the thought of her playing made her happy and the coach was also impressed by her moves and decided to let her play permanently. But the other team members were not happy and kept on bullying her and calling her ugly just because she was poor and didn’t have money to take of herself but that didn’t move her. Weeks passed by and Kate had grown fond of Henry always defending her.

Chapter 4: Feelings

Christy who hadn’t seen her friend for sometime walked past various clubs looking for and finally found her playing with Henry so passionately and the way Kate stared at him was not ordinary. As I after the game Christy called Kate to the side and they spoke and cracked some jokes but them Christy brought up the matter but Kate told her that she was just overthinking and seeing things that weren’t there. Few days to the festival Henry’s mom and dad came to town from France to prepare for their son’s and soon to be daughter in law’s graduation so their arrival spread like wild fire in the town and Henry became more scarce than usual as his mom kept on arranging dates for him and Anna. A day to the festival, Henry’s mom and dad invited Anna to their house so that they could all go to the ceremony together ,Henry refused but his mom went ahead and did it anyway. During dinner, Henry didn’t even cast a glance at Anna and immediately after he went to his room she tried to follow him but he slammed the door at her face without even looking back.

Chapter5: The day of the festival

They all left for the festival together but Henry still maintained his distance from Anna. At the school, Kate was already at the basketball pitch waiting for Henry but when he came she noticed that he was moody and didn’t want to push it so she just focused on the game instead but when Anna saw Henry and Kate playing together she got so angry that she but her lower lip subconsciously and decided to teach her a lesson.

Unbeknown to Kate,Anna had paid someone to harm Kate during the first half of the game so that she won’t be able to play with Henry. The first half of the game was good and all the team members were so happy that Kate didn’t slow them down, during the first half break Kate went to the bathroom to ease herself and the person who was paid to harm her followed her to the bathroom and drugged her.

The second half of the game began and Kate was nowhere to be seen, this made Henry panic a bit but he just thought it wasn’t serious so he didn’t over think it and after the game he kept on feeling uneasy and decided to look for her abandoning Anna and his parents at the pitch. He asked around but everyone said they didn’t see her so he decided to go look for clues at the bathroom where she went to and on searching, he noticed that one of the bathroom doors were shut tight and no response came from there he tried calling out to Kate severally but got no response since she was still drugged heavily and was unconscious. Without any hesitation he broke the door open and found Kate motionless on the floor. Fear gripped his chest and he picked her up immediately rushing towards his car to take her to the hospital he ran past his parents and Anna without sparing them a glance.

Chapter 6:

At the hospital the nurses saw a young handsome boy rushing in with a girl who didn’t really look beautiful and just kept on staring at the young handsome boy motionless. His cold stare and eyes brought them back to their senses and they led him to a room to place the girl and attended to her while he waited outside, after sometime the doctor called him to his office and explained to him that Kate was drugged with a very dangerous substance and was rushed to the hospital at the right or else the drug would have killed her. This news made him so angry that his cold eyes frightened even the doctor but he calmed himself down immediately he heard Kate’s voice and he went into the room staring at her so deeply that he felt a deep pain in his chest. The doctor finally broke the silence in the room by showing the prescribed medications to Henry and he left to go and get them.

At Henry’s home

Henry’s parents dropped Anna at her residence after the ceremony at school and went to their home waiting for Henry but finally decided to go to bed.

Meanwhile at the hospital, Kate was worried about how her aunt would be doing without about her whereabouts and pleaded with Henry to give her a call and so she could explain everything to her. After the call the room fell into dead silence followed by words of appreciation from Kate and after sometime she fell asleep and Henry stayed up for sometime before falling asleep.

The next morning Kate’s aunt rushed to the hospital and she saw Henry and thanked him for everything he had done for his niece giving him an unexpected hug( this was the last time or not they would see each other again). Henry smiled a bit and bid them goodbye and left for home. When he got home, his mom attacked him at once bashing him with questions about who Kate was to him but he just stood there silently not because he didn’t want to answer but because he himself didn’t know the answer to the question. And his mom noticed the look in his eyes and decided to send him abroad to go further his studies so that he could take over the family business.

In the hospital Kate’s aunt asked her about who Henry was to her and she couldn’t answer, instead a flush of warmth filled her face making her cheeks red. Seeing this, her aunt understood everything and told her niece to meet him and tell him how she feels but she felt a little hesitant about them meeting up but still she lazily went. On the day she went to his house, everywhere was empty then the butler saw her asked who she was looking for and she said Henry then the butler told her that the young master, his fiancé and parents relocated to France after hearing this she fell down to the floor breaking piece by piece as if someone ripped her chest open while she’s wide awake and after crying a bit she picked up herself and went home. When she got home, she locked herself in her room for sometime and cried herself to sleep. On the next day she was as pale as a white sheet of paper and her aunt spoke some words of courage into her bringing her back to her senses and she made up her mind to become the best version of herself for herself and not for anyone else. She focused so much on herself and built herself into a version everyone least expected.
