Chapter 8: Home Alone

1881 Words
Theo POV “What news do you have about the attack, beta Jax?” “The interrogation team is still attempting to extract information from the prisoners. They are impervious to all methods of torture we are legally allowed to exert, Alpha.” Jax says as he runs his hand through his hair, eyes dark and tired. I sigh. I have to admit, I’ve been overworking Jax a bit. Not only with pack matters, but also back at the company. I’m grateful to have such an amazing beta, but even he needs to relax and unwind from time to time. “Take the day off, Jax. I’ll have Anthony continue to supervise the interrogation team.” “No, Alpha! I can do this, don’t worry about me. I…” “Go and rest, beta Jax.” I release some of my Alpha aura, just enough for him to obey without questioning me any further. “Yes, Alpha.” He gets up to leave, heading towards the door, stopping as he opens it. “Alpha?” I look up at him, waiting patiently for his next question. “That woman you brought home last night, she’s our luna, isn’t she?” I smile at him, nodding. He runs back to me, tackling me out of my chair, laughing as he attacks me. “I told you, bro! I told you you’d find her sooner or later! I’m so happy for you man!” He’s grinning ear to ear and I couldn’t help but laugh at his goofy-looking face. Jax has been my best friend since we were pups. His father was my father’s beta. Jax and I were raised in the pack house together, with the hope that we would forge an invincible bond such as our father’s before us. He’s like a brother to me, and he is a damn fine beta. We are a feared pair among the other packs. Not many Alpha’s have such a good relationship with their betas, whether it’s because of the age difference, power trip, or simply because they don’t wish to mix their personal life with business. But I see it differently. My pack is not a business. My pack is my family and I care for all of my members equally. “So when do I get to meet the poor woman who has to endure the big bad alpha for the rest of her life?” Jax jokes. “Well…. She.. um, how do I put this? She doesn’t know I’m her mate yet.” Jax just stares at me, with no reaction. “Um, Jax? Buddy?” I shift awkwardly in my chair, as Jax is spaced out just staring at me as if I had grown three heads. I begin to open my mouth to say something else when he finally shows signs of life. He slaps his hand to his face, groaning loudly. So dramatic this man. “You mean… to tell me… That you’ve waited 7 years, I repeat 7. Whole. Years. To find this woman, and she doesn’t know who you are to her? And you haven’t bothered to mention it to her maybe? What’s the deal? Does she not have a wolf yet? Did you sleep with her sister? Oh, is she from an enemy pack? How about frenemies with Aliyah? Oh yeah, that’s got to be it. Aliyah will beat any she-wolf’s ass that comes near her big brother. Scary little she-wolf. Oh wait, oh I know, is she…” He stops mid sentence, looking around as if someone is listening, he leans close and whispers the next part to me. “Is she ugly?” I stare at him in disbelief. What is wrong with him? Is this i***t really my beta? I take back everything nice I previously said about him. He’s. An. i***t. Before he can start running his mouth again, I put my hand up gesturing to him to shush. “Jax, buddy. Stop before I punch you into tomorrow.” I stare directly at him, edging closer as he doesn’t respond to my threat. He puts his hands up in surrender. “Ok, ok, down boy!” I can’t help but laugh. He’s very competent as my beta and my VP… but that’s about it. He’s a bit off in the personality department. His goofy ass drives me crazy sometimes, but he’s proven loyal and is the closest thing I have to a brother. I dismiss Jax and open a mind link with gamma Anthony. “Please take over the interrogation in the cellars. Contact Beta Jax for an update on what he’s achieved with the prisoners and take it from there.” “Yes, Alpha.” If anyone can extract information from these men, it's Anthony. He’s been trained since he could walk by our finest warrior and previous gamma, his father. He’s a tough guy, ruthless. I’d never even seen him show an ounce of affection, not even as a pup. He’s still one of my closest friends, regardless. You don’t want to be on his list of enemies, that’s for sure. I shutter at the thought of the last guy who tried to size up Anthony. He had to be hospitalized for 6 days and couldn’t walk for weeks after that. He’s not usually such an aggressive person, just protective of people he cares for. I walk out of my office, down the stairs to the kitchen. I find Aliyah laughing and dancing around in the kitchen with Aella while they make breakfast. I smile at the sight of my mate giggling at Aliyah’s goofiness. “Good morning, ladies.” “Hey big bro!” Aliyah comes running to me for a hug. “You driving us to work today?” “I thought maybe we could all hang back here, watch some movies, maybe?” Aliyah shoots me a mischievous grin. “Actuallyyyyyyy…. As much as I loveeee your company, Victoria texted me that they’re short-staffed today. I’ll have Jax take me to work.” She turns to Aella. “You can stay home today, girly. Have fun with my annoying brother. Toodles!” Aella stares at us, mouth wide open, not knowing what to say. She shifts nervously as I shake my head at my sister’s attempt to get me time alone with my mate. “Come on, we can watch whatever you want in the home theater.” I smile gently, reaching out to her, taking her hand into mine as I guide her to the movie room. Aella POV Shit, brother and sister. Makes so much sense now. Oh yea, we were jealous for nothing. That hot piece of man is ours. Maybe we can sneak a peak at those delicious abs we were rubbing on yesterday during the movie. I shake my head. What is wrong with me? Calm down, Aella! He’s just being nice. Don’t get the wrong idea. We walk down a couple of halls, walking through the door at the end of the hall. I stare in awe at the supposed home theater. Now, I may have never been to a movie theater, but this could easily pass off as one. I look up at him, and he gestures to me to walk in, as he follows behind me. I walk straight to the popcorn machine and grab a huge bag of delicious, buttery golden popcorn. My mouth waters at the smell flooding my nose. Then I notice the slushy machine right next to it and I almost squeal from excitement. I grab a cup and choose the delicious cola slushy to pair with my popcorn and practically skip back to a seat in the middle of the theater. I recline back in the most comfortable seat I have possibly ever sat in as Theo sits next to me. It dawns on me that this house is huge to have a theater this big… What does he do for a living? And why the hell does Aliyah work at a diner if they’re obviously well off? Theo picks a Disney movie and I stare at him, smirking. This huge, muscular man chooses to watch Disney? I snicker at the thought of him watching Finding Nemo as the movie starts. When the movie ends, I find myself a bit annoyed. My thoughts were so loud in my head I could barely focus on the movie. I just couldn’t stop myself from literally having conversations with myself throughout the whole movie. Great, maybe I really am going crazy from all the time spent locked away from society. I look up to see Theo looking down at me curiously. “You alright there, little one?” Hey! Who you calling little, you big oaf! I groan aloud, as Theo stares at me amused. I go red in the cheeks and look away. “Sorry, just a little distracted.” I say, still looking away. He leans down close to me, close enough that I can feel his breath against my lips. He smells so nice… I can’t quite put my finger on the scent, but it’s so familiar and comforting. I realize I’m leaning in closer to him, and I jump back, tripping over a step, beginning to feel myself fall. I brace myself, but the impact never comes. I open my eyes to see myself tucked safely into Theo’s arms, closing the distance between us. “Thank you.” I whisper. Nothing could prepare me for what came next. I feel the intense sparks rushing all throughout my body. I shiver head to toe, not knowing what’s getting into me. A wetness pulls between my thighs as I clench them shut so he doesn’t notice. I continue to kiss Theo back, not caring that I don’t even know this man. This feels so amazing, it feels so right. His grip tightens around me as he picks me up and pushes me up against the wall, not once taking his lips off mine. I run my fingers through his soft, curly, brown hair as we continue to kiss. “Ah-hem.” Theo slowly pulls away, as I hurry to straighten myself out. How embarrassing! I hide behind Theo as the unknown person in the doorway just stares at us, grinning cheek to cheek. “Yes. Jax.” Theo says through gritted teeth. Wow! Boy is he annoyed. Hehehe. Well, we were just about to peel our legs open like a banana peel for that sexy beast. I redden further at my sudden naughty conscious. What is getting into me lately? “Alpha, you’re needed down in the cellar.” Theo shifts uncomfortably, quickly shushing the man whose name I now know is Jax. He looks down at me and caresses my cheek sweetly. “I’ll only be a minute. Please make yourself at home till I come back. Feel free to roam around and get to know the house, or stay here and watch some more movies.” His smile is breathtaking. He walks away with Jax, leaving me to roam freely as I please. I still feel a little flustered, so I decide to go take a shower. Maybe give myself some much needed relief after that intense moment with Theo.
