CHAPTER XXV

“Who are you?” Hearing that statement made my heart shatter, all my life I’ve never had anyone deny that they know me. Yet here he is asking who the f**k I was. “Zynrick,” I said and tried to keep my voice stable. I feel like it would c***k any minute now, “It’s not funny,” He furrowed his eyebrows at me and scoffed, “I don’t know you. You’re probably mistaking me for someone else,” He said and walked past by me. There wasn’t even a hint of recognition when he saw me. Was I imagining things? I followed him with my gaze and I couldn’t help but tear up. I’ve been in an emotional roller coaster after witnessing my parents die for the second time and here I am being ignored by the people I became close to. “Al,” I called out when I saw him walking towards the kitchen. He had his eyebrows furrowed when he saw me. “Don’t come near me,” He said in a threatening tone. “Al, it’s me, don’t you remember?” I asked and took a step forwards but he took a step back. I could see that he was being cautious as he did that. “Don’t act like I know you,” He said and pulled out his phone. “Hello, security,” I panicked when I heard him call security. I moved towards him and took his phone from his hand. “What the f**k are you doing?” He asked in anger when I was already a meter away from him. “How can you call security on me?” I asked in an offended tone. I saw him rub his hands on his face when I said that, “You’re probably one of those delusional witches,” He said and dashed to the kitchen. I quickly chased him and saw that he took a knife, “If you dare come near me I will slice you,” He said and pointed the knife at me. “Al, what the heck?!” I asked as I stare at him. “It’s me Ellesmiere. You were the one who woke me up from that thousand year long curse,” I said but he shook his head. “I didn’t. You’re probably mistaking me for someone else,” He said which made me feel frustrated. “Why do you and Zynrick keep on saying that?” I asked in annoyance. “Zynrick!” He yelled and when I turned around I saw Zynrick standing behind me. “Is she bothering you?” Zynrick asked while glaring at me. “Yes, how did she get in?” Al asked back making my jaw drop. “I thought she was one of your experiments or something,” Zynrick said while looking down at me. “No,” Al answered shortly. I don’t know if this is a game but this is annoying as f**k. “What’s wrong with the two of you?” I asked as I look at them alternately. I could feel the anger surging through me and I was starting to fear that the demons might arrive any time soon. “Look, I don’t know if this is a prank but you need to stop,” I said but Zynrick just wrapped his hand around my neck. I felt myself being lifted off of the ground and I was having difficulty breathing. “Zynrick, let go, I can’t breathe,” I said but he just tightened his grip around my neck. “An intruder like you shouldn’t be freely roaming around,” He said while glaring at me. I created a sword and stabbed him on his shoulder. I thought he would let go but he didn’t. My vision was starting to blur so I had no other choice. I blasted him and he was thrown a good few meters away from me. I held onto my neck as I try to catch my breath. After seeing that Zyn could stand the pain of being stabbed I realized that they were just demons in the form of Al and Zynrick. “You wench!” Zynrick yelled and charged towards me. I was still recovering from being choked so I was only able to dodge a few feet away from him. “You’re probably demons aren’t you?” I asked and scoffed as I stood up. Zyn was about to attack me again but Al stopped him. “Zyn, let’s stop acting,” He said after holding Zynrick’s shoulder. “But Al,” Zyn said and looked at me with a pained expression. I was confused by what was going on. “What the hell is happening?” I asked as I look at them alternately. “Elle, you had an accident a few years back,” Al started and looked at Zyn. Zyn nodded and looked at me with pity in his eyes. After he saw the confused expression on his face he decided to avoid my gaze. “What are you talking about?” I asked because I don’t know what was going on. “After finding your familiar and having your memories return you had an argument with Zynrick so you went to your Kingdom, Maharlika,” He started and I tried to recall it he was right. I remained silent and waited for him to speak. He took a deep breath before continuing, “You accepted the Queen’s challenge of being locked up in your cousin’s illusion the Phantom Castle, and do you remember that?” He asked and I nodded. “Yes,” I said and started nodding. “Okay, it’s good that you remember, now, you lost,” He said and took another deep breath. “After losing you went crazy. You became delusional.” He added. I wanted to laugh at what he was saying but I was starting to believe it. I was starting to get confused and my head started hurting. “What happened next?” I asked even though I was already in pain. “We found out where Athaeas is. He’s dead, and so are your familiars,” Zynrick said and looked at me. I could see the pain in his eyes as he looked at me. “I know it must be painful that’s why you became delusional. After losing the queen and knowing that Athaeas and your familiars are dead you went crazy. We locked you up in the laboratory because we thought that it would be useful if you become a test subject.” He explained while looking straight into his eyes. “You’re lying. You’re probably messing with my head.” I said and tried to remember what happened after I escaped the second memory. “If that’s true then why were you acting like you didn’t know me?” I asked. “That’s because when we thought that you were already healed we brought you back here. You were fine for a few months until Zyn and Erin got married.” Al said and showed Zynrick’s hand. Seeing the ring on his finger made my heart ache for some reason. “No, no, no, this can’t be happening,” I said and lost control of my powers. I felt someone punch me in the gut which made me throw up. “This is what we were telling you,” Zyn said while holding my shoulder. “You’re lying!” I yelled but as soon as I did, I saw the pity in their eyes. They must be telling the truth. I might be going crazy. I laughed with that realization. I am crazy. I thought and pulled Zynrick’s collar. “Why did you marry b***h?” I asked while looking straight at Zynrick’s eyes. I must really be crazy for doing something like this. I just couldn’t help but feel mad that he married Erin. “I love her, Elle,” He said which made me feel like my heart was torn apart. I let go of him and when I heard the door open I knew who it was. I waited for her to enter the kitchen for me to confirm my hunch and when she did Zyn’s attention was all on her. I hated seeing him kiss her in front of me. I hated how my heart clenched when he looked at her so lovingly. I hate how he held her hand and smiled at her. I hated that all of that love wasn’t directed towards me. “Al, am I still useful to you?” I asked while looking up at him. I was on the floor looking like a lost child as I look at him. “No,” He said and that’s when I heard the demons laughing at me. “Did you hear that? You’re useless to them,” One of them mocked and laughed. “She even thought that she was an invincible witch, what a joke,” Another mocked. “Why don’t you let us swallow you up so you can be useful?” Another said and I scoffed. Is this all I’m worth? I can’t believe that I saw myself as the strongest witch of Erethydnia when I am nothing but demon food. “Why don’t we torture her before eating her?” One of the suggested. All of them laughed as they began to torture me. “Say good bye to the world, Ellesmiere,”
