CHAPTER XXIV

1158 Words
I was placed in a memory where they took me to the battle site where my mother was killed. I stared at the grave and I couldn’t help but cry. I could feel the anger seething through me as I look at my mother’s name engraved to a wood that was shaped into a cross. “Could you take her body and transfer it to Maharlika?” I asked the brand new commander of the Ministry of Defense. “I don’t think we can do that,” He said which made me ball my hands into fists. I clenched my teeth and punched him. “That’s right Isabel, you should hurt the people around you. Heck! You should even kill this man because he wasn’t able to protect your mother during the battle,” You heard that familiar voice whisper. Your eyes went wide when you saw the commander lying on the ground. “s**t! I’m sorry,” I apologized and helped him stand up. “You have the audacity to punch me when you were the reason why they died,” He said and scoffed at me. I couldn’t help my blood boil when I heard what he said, “What did you say?” I asked and punched him repeatedly. I only stopped when someone pulled me away from the commander, “Isabel, what are you doing?” I heard one of the soldiers ask beside me. I looked at the commander and his face was bloody. I took a deep breath and ask them to let go of me but when they didn’t I said, “I’ll heal him,” The soldiers didn’t believe me though, but when the commander said, “It’s okay,” They let me go. I walked up to him and apologized. I placed my hand in front of him and healed his wounds. “Thank you,” He said which made me feel guiltier. “Why are you thanking me when I’m the reason why you’re bleeding?” I asked but he just smiled at me. “I understand why you would do that. I was the reason why your father and mother both died in battle,” He started. As much as I wanted to listen to what he had to say, I just can’t. “I’m sorry but can you please reserve the story for a different time? I’m currently busy mourning at the moment,” I said and he chuckled. “Of course, Isabel,” He said and left with the other soldiers. I just stared at my mother’s grave when I heard another whisper, “You knew that she was going to die but you didn’t stop her,” It said. I could feel its breath on my ear but I just ignored it, “If only you were a smart child and begged her to stay then she would’ve still been here.” It whispered once again. “They did it because of me. They wanted to work and prove their worth because they feel like they have no place in the society,” I said but the thing that had been whispering to me just laughed. “You are so full of yourself,” It said and laughed. “Do you really think that they died for your sake?” It asked again. I clenched my jaw when it said that, “Shut up! You don’t know anything!” “Your father dies in a battle because he doesn’t want to be with you anymore. Your mother died later because she doesn’t want you either. She followed your father. If you weren’t born then they wouldn’t have to worry or run away because of you,” It said. I didn’t know what to say with what I heard. “You’re the reason your parents are dead,” It said and lunged at me. I was so disheartened that I let it attack me. I felt it s***h my arm, legs and even my face. I felt my heart hurt with what it said and wondered if it was right. “Isabel,” I heard a faint voice whisper. I looked around and there was nothing. The thing started to take form and it was taking my mother’s form. It attempted to attack me but I was too busy looking for the voice that I shot it with my magic. “Remember that you should be strong no matter what happens, okay? We love you with all our heart,” I heard the words my mother left for me. They love me. I remembered that she told me that they love me. I smiled bitterly when I remembered that. “I can’t believe I almost believed you more than my own mother’s words,” I whispered to myself and stood up. I glared at the demon that took my mother’s form and smirked. “It looks like I win the game,” I said and formed lanced around me. I shot all of my lances towards it before I formed a sword in my hands. While it was busy defending itself from my lances, I ran and stabbed it in the heart. “Did you think that I only have one?” It said in mother’s voice. I got mad because of it but I smirked, “No, I know you have ten,” I said and released my powers. The sword that I used to stab him exploded into different directions. I was certain that I was able to hit all of its heart because it vanished into thin air. “What else do you have to offer, Queen?” I asked as I smile in victory. I saw the scenery vanish into thin air. I was waiting for what memory was going to be next because I don’t know what memory is left for me. “The Great War,” I whispered when I realized that it was one of the memories that would probably haunt me. “But I don’t remember it,” I told myself. I was too busy thinking that I didn’t notice that I was in different scenery. “What?” I asked when I was in the chateau. Was I dreaming? I looked around and wondered why I was in the chateau when I saw Zynrick. “Zyn,” I said in relief. I thought he would be happy when he saw me but I was wrong. “Who are you?” He asked and that made my heart drop.
