CHAPTER XXXVII

I opened my eyes and saw my parents in front of me. They had a smile on their face as they stretch their hands towards me. “Isabel,” My mother called out softly. I looked at her then my father who knelt beside her. They both had a smile on their face as they look at me. “What is it?” I asked when they didn’t speak. “You know that you’re special, right?” Mother asked and I nodded. They’ve always told me that I wasn’t the same as the other children. I’m different that’s why I can’t leave the castle. “You also know that papa is a dark wizard and mama is a white encantada, right?” Father asked and I nodded. I don’t understand why they’re telling me this. “I know that,” I answered. They smiled at me and hugged me. “You’re a mix of both so you need to find the balance, do you understand?” Mother asked and I shook my head. She looked at my father and he sighed. “Papa is a strong man. My powers are different and far more dangerous than anyone’s.” Father said and looked at my mother. “Mama’s on the other hand is the most pure one. You’re not just a Maharlikan, you’re a princess,” She said and took a deep breath, “That’s why you’re purer than anyone else in the world.” “Since, mama and papa’s powers are combined in you that means you’re both,” Father said and I cheered. “That means I’m strong and strong,” I cheered making them smile. “That’s right but you need to be able to control both powers.” Mother said which made me pout. “What do you mean?” I asked while looking at them. “You can’t let your dark powers overpower your pure ones.” Father said which confused me. “I still don’t understand,” I said and sat in front of them with tears in my eyes. “Mama isn’t allowed to inhale miasma, right? That’s because it’s impure. It will make them sick and papa’s powers are impure ones.” Mother said and held my hand. “Does that mean papa’s powers make you sick? Is papa’s power going to make me sick too?” I asked in nervousness. Father chuckled and carried me, “No, it’s not, but it will consume your mama’s powers. If you let yourself fall in a dark hole, let’s say you envy a person so much, then papa’s powers will destroy mama’s powers.” He said which scared me. “What’s going to happen to me if that happens?” I asked while trembling. Mother held my hand and kissed my forehead, “It’s not going to happen if you don’t succumb to ill thoughts and dark emotions,” She said. “But I want to know what will happen,” I whined and pouted. I crossed my arms and moved around so father would put me down but he didn’t. “You’ll do things you’ll regret if you let papa’s dark powers devour mama’s powers,” Father said making mother hit his arm. “What are you saying?” Mother said in a disappointed tone but father just ran his hand through mother’s hair and kissed her forehead. “It’s okay, it’s best she knows now,” He said and smiled at mother. I can see the sadness in his eyes when he said that to mother. Mother took a deep breath and smiled at me. “Promise us you’ll maintain the balance in your powers,” Mother said and showed me her pinky. I shook my head when she did that, “If papa’s powers will make me do things that I will regret then I don’t want it. Papa can have it all,” I said and hugged him hoping it’ll transfer the powers to him. “Don’t say that, Isabel, your father’s powers will protect you because mama’s powers can’t,” Mother said and kissed my cheek. “Why can’t your powers protect me?” I asked. “Mama’s powers are pure remember? That means she can’t use it to harm others or else she will suffer. If she hurts someone because of anger or any negative emotion her powers will turn into miasma.” Father said which made my jaw drop. “That’s why you can’t use your pure powers to attack others. You can only use your papa’s powers to do that,” Mother added. “That mean you’re the perfect combination because mama has what papa doesn’t and papa has what mama doesn’t,” I said and hugged them both. “So, do you promise you’ll maintain the balance?” Father asked and I nodded. I put out both of my hands and showed them my pinky fingers. “I promise,” -- “I promised,” I whispered when I remembered what I told my parents. The darkness that swallowed me was starting to fade and I was starting to see blurry images. I looked ahead and when my vision became clear I saw Alystair and Zynrick fighting Tyrone. “Izamu!” I yelled and tried to reach for him but someone held my arm to stop me. “Thank goodness,” Haneul said with tears in her eyes. She even wrapped her arms around me which was something she doesn’t do. “What happened?” I asked. I looked around and saw the there were a lot of debris. There were also bodies scattered everywhere. I closed my eyes and gulped. “I did this, didn’t I?” I asked. The other floor was gone and the walls crumbled. Even the roof was gone. I know I wasn’t the only one that caused this but I knew that I was part of it. “The building’s almost destroyed,” I whispered as I watch Al and Zynrick fighting Tyrone. “What did you expect? Two half progenitors and a demon is fighting,” Haneul said. I held her hand and looked at her. “You’re probably the reason why I’m here,” I said. I’m certain that mother gave her a spell to bring me back if something happens. “Just don’t do that again,” She said while looking at me. “Haneul, I need you to take a step back,” I said and walked into the fight. All of their attention was caught and now they’re looking at me. “Why did you stop?” I asked when they stopped fighting. “So, you’re back after creating such a ruckus,” Tyrone said while looking at me with a mocking smirk on his face. “A princess of Maharlika killed hundreds of people in one blow. I didn’t know Maharlikans kill people. Then again, you’re the daughter of a dark wizard and a white encantada,” He said and released a familiar. “You guys are so unfair. It’s three against one,” “Elle, don’t get involved, we’ve been fighting him but nothing’s happening,” Zynrick said and stood in front of me. “Do you know why?” Tyrone asked cockily. “It’s because you don’t have a heaven’s sword,” He said and threw the sword in his hand in the air. “This sword is the only weapon that can kill a progenitor,” He whispered but I scoffed. “Elle,” Al said and looked at me with a look asking if I knew about it. Of course, I know but he’s wrong for thinking that the only way to kill a progenitor was the sword in his hand. “There are twelve heaven’s swords created by heaven and the progenitor as well.” I said which made Al and Zynrick look at me. “That’s to make sure that if a progenitor goes wild, the other progenitors can put a stop to its actions by killing it,” I added. I looked up at him and I can see the amusement on his face. “That’s right,” He said and clapped his hands. “Do you know where the twelve are?” I asked while looking up at him. “Twelve progenitors were given one which are, Nuan Zhen, Ritsuka Takahashi, Myung-Dae Lee, Aldrich Xantho, Maxim Sabaneeva, Sebastian Aventinus, Anurak Isinthon, Sean O'Sullivan, Crisostomo Lacanilao, Faizan Dhanial and Athaeas Corbyn.” He answered with confidence. “So, whose sword are you holding?” I asked while glaring at him. “Athaeas’ of course,” He said and I scoffed at him. He raised his eyebrow at me and smirked, “What’s with that scoff?” He asked while looking at me. “That can’t happen,” I said with confidence. “How are you certain?” He asked while looking down at me. “I used his sword to seal him,” I answered and released a heaven’s sword. As I was charging towards him, his familiar was released and charged towards me. I was caught off guard and I wasn’t able to counter but Kailash appeared in front of me. “Don’t worry about him attacking you. I’ll take care of it,” Zynrick said and charged towards Tyrone. “Keep your distance and wait for an opening,” Zynrick said and kicked Tyrone. Tyrone was quick enough to stab Zynrick’s shoulder. I wanted to attack but I have to trust Zynrick. I watched them exchange blows and it’s obvious that Zynrick was at a disadvantage. Every blow he dealt and every wound he caused would heal in an instant. Zynrick’s wounds on the other hand wouldn’t heal because of the sword. That means Tyrone was telling the truth. I turned towards Al who was kneeling on the floor because of his wounds while Tyrone’s Fox familiar and Zynrick’s cat sith familiar were fighting. It seems that Tyrone and Zynrick were having a hard time with each other so I went to Al. “Let me heal you,” I said and held my hand out on his wounds. He looked at me and pushed my hand away. “You shouldn’t waste your mana on me. After you went crazy a lot of your powers must’ve been drained.” He said and looked at Haneul. I followed his gaze and stared at Haneul who was standing at the far corner with her hands balled into a fist. “She wants to fight, doesn’t she?” I asked and Al answered without looking at me, “Yeah, she must be frustrated,” “How did Tyrone become a progenitor?” I asked while watching them fight. “He stole the research papers at the chateau. That’s what was missing when we searched. He also wanted to look for something to make him stronger that’s why he went to the manor. He must be desperate for him to master being a progenitor within a few weeks.” He answered and looked at me. I know that he wanted to ask me something so I said, “What’s on your mind?” “You saw it right? My memories,” He said and I nodded. I looked at him and saw the pain in his eyes. “You didn’t do anything wrong,” I said and squeezed his hand. I stood up when I saw that Tyrone was slowing down a bit. I prepared to strike and when Zynrick was able to pin Tyrone of the wall I ran and pointed the sword at his chest. “Tell me, where did you get the sword?” I asked but he just laughed like a maniac. “As if I would tell you,” He said and coughed when Zynrick tightened his grip around Tyrone’s neck. “Answer us properly,” Zynrick said while glaring at Tyrone. “Ethan betrayed Alystair,” Tyrone said which made me look at Al. “What are you talking about?” I asked but when he didn’t answer, I pressed the sword on his chest. “He was the one who brought us to the manor. Erin told us that you weren’t in the lab. She was responsible for leaking the information of where you are and what your agenda was for going to such place.” I looked at Zynrick and I can see the pain in his eyes. Erin must be important to him for her betrayal to affect him like this. “Ethan, on the other hand, was the one convincing the government to support our group. He also told us that you were at that village full of disgusting magical beings. Aside from that, he also provided us the weapons and transportation that we need.” He said which made me grit my teeth. “All this time you thought you were being helped and protect when in reality you were just being played and manipulated. How stupid,” He said mockingly. “Tell me where you got the sword,” I commanded and pressed the sword I have on his chest. “I got it from Ethan, it’s Nuan Zhen’s,” He answered making my eyes grow wide. “What did you do to him?” I asked through gritted teeth. “I don’t know, I wasn’t involved in whatever they did to him. All I know is that I was sent this sword,” He answered and c****d his head to the side. I pressed the sword harder and I could see the blood dripping. I was about to ask another question when he bit my shoulder. I bit my bottom lip to stop myself from screaming in pain. “Get off of her,” I heard Zynrick say and pulled Tyrone away from me. My shoulder was painful from his fangs wounding it. But what made it worse was when Zynrick pulled him away from me. His fangs were dragged on my shoulder. “Give me the sword,” Zynrick said showing me his hand. He had his back facing me. “Here,” I said and gave him the sword. “Stay with Al and Haneul. I’ll take care of him,” He said but the wounds on his body weren’t healing. “I’ll go if you drink my blood,” I said. I don’t want him to fight Tyrone while he’s wounded. “I didn’t know that your blood would taste wonderful,” Tyrone said as he wipes his lips. I want to punch his face when I saw that look on his face. “He just drunk your blood,” Zynrick said and looked at me. “I know but you can’t fight him with all of those wounds.” I responded. I stared at him and it looks like he won’t give in the idea. “I can heal myself,” He reasoned. I balled my hands into fists and hit his wound. “Those wounds won’t heal fast because those came from the heaven’s sword,” I said. I took a deep breath and grabbed his collar. “If you want to end this quick then listen to me,” “Fine,” He said and bit the other side of my neck. He wrapped his arms around my waist and hugged me tightly as he sucked my blood. I was watching Tyrone as Zynrick fed on my blood. I aimed my hand at him when he was about to attack Zyn and I. I released my lances and distracted him with it. “Zynrick, hurry up,” I said. I could feel my legs trembling and about to give up. I felt myself lose all my strength to stand up but Zynrick pulled me up. He stopped and looked at me straight in the eyes. “I have something to tell you once all of this is done,” He said and carried me to where Al and Haneul were. “Just wait for me, I’ll finish this quick,” He said and charged towards Tyrone. All of his wounds were gone and his powers seemed to have grown. Even his familiar seemed to grow stronger since Kailash won. “Kailash, come,” Zynrick said and rode Kailash. He focused on dealing a fatal wound on Tyrone. They were fast that I can’t even see them properly. All I could hear was the sound of their swords clashing. It continued like that for almost half an hour. I was starting to worry when I saw blood dripping on the floor. I stood up and aimed at Tyrone but Al held my hand. “Al, what are you doing?” I asked while looking at him with a confused expression. “Let him finish this on his own. Besides, you don’t know if you can hit Tyrone with the speed they’re going.” He said while looking at them. I lowered my hand and hoped that Zynrick would win. I had my head bowed down when I heard a loud thud. Dust filled the area and I was looking around but all that I saw were their silhouette. “Trust him, Elle,” Al said as we looked at the silhouette. I listened to Al but I was prepared if something happened to Zynrick. We watched as the other stabbed the other with the sword. I heard Tyrone scream and I felt relieved. I saw Zynrick’s silhouette fall on the ground so I ran to him. “Thank goodness,” I whispered and looked down at him. He was covered in blood and he had wounds. He must’ve used up all of his powers because even his familiar was gone but I was thankful that he’s okay. “Help me out, please,” He said and held his hand out. I helped him stand up and I wrapped his arms around my shoulder. We walked to where Al and Haneul were. “That was reckless,” Al said and punched Zynrick’s shoulder. “I just finished fighting Tyrone and here you are punching me,” Zynrick said and rolled his eyes at Al. “I know,” Al said and grabbed Zynrick’s other arm and wrapped it around his shoulder. “Let’s go home,” I said and looked at Haneul who was looking at us. “Haneul, come here,” Al said and Haneul stood beside him. I teleported us back to the chateau and we collapsed on the couch. “It feels good to be back,” Zynrick said and I agreed with him.
