The look on Logan's face upon hearing Jordan's words made me feel awful. It made me feel like a liar, like a sinner.
His eyes were clouded with pain and… disappointment.
While I was feeling awful for telling him a lie, Venus was trying to push to the surface.
“I want mate." She declared, more like she commanded and that didn't sit well with me.
Stupid mating bond. As much as I wanted to curse her and berate her for being a traitor, I understood why she had that reaction.
Meeting her mate for the first time had her excited. Unlike our human sides, a mate bond has a strong pull to our beasts.
“ He rejected us, remember?" I politely reminded her in case she forgot our current situation.
“ I don't care. I want our mate.” She insisted, thrashing violently in my head.
Annoyed, I pushed her to the back of my mind. Having her sealed three years ago made it easy for me to control her.
"Amanda, is that true? I thought Alpha Jordan is engaged to another lady?” Logan asked, his eyes looking straight into my face.
Pushing Jordan away, I smiled.
" That's not true. Alpha Jordan likes joking a lot.” I replied.
I didn't understand why Jordan would pull such a stunt after what happened to us five years ago but I wasn't going to let him mess with my mind.
Pushing me away and then claiming me the moment another man showed interest in me? Wasn't that akin to playing with my feelings.
“Amanda…” Jordan called with a hint of warning. The sound of my name rolling off his tongue made me shiver involuntarily. It sounded erotic, something I would die to hear again.
Pushing those stupid thoughts off my mind, I turned to glare at him.
“ Control yourself alpha Jordan. Your mate is here and I'm sure she won't be pleased to hear you claim another woman as your mate." I warned him.
After choosing her over me, the least he could do is accord her the respect she deserved.
No woman would want to hear her partner denounce her and claim another.
She might have put up with Jordan embarrassing me but I wasn't going to do that to her. I was never given a vengeful soul.
“ Are you ashamed of me?" Jordan asked, narrowing his eyes dangerously at me.
“ I don't Know what you are talking …”
Before I could finish my statement, Jordan pulled me to himself before claiming my lips in a hungry kiss. He nibbled my lips, giving me a gentle bite forcing my mouth open before he thrust his tongue.
Forgetting the world, I kissed him back, moaning into the kiss until loud cheers and clapping pulled me back to reality.
Jordan had that smirk on his face which did nothing but fuel my anger and begure6i knew it, my Palm connected with his cheeks.
The sound of a resounding slap had the ballroom go into complete silence.
“ I hate you." I spat before turning around and practically running out. I wished to be anywhere but close to that asshole.
So everything was a game to him? What did I ever do to him to deserve that kind of treatment?
Tears blurred my vision as I continued to take off to goddess knows where.
I could hear someone calling from behind me but I chose to ignore it.
I just wanted to be alone and chide myself for being a fool and letting a man use me.
To make Logan jealous and ruin everything for me, he kissed me and I f*****g allowed him to. Even kissed him back.
He must think that I'm the cheapest woman in this universe.
“ Hazel, wait for me." Jordan's voice called and I hastened in my steps. It didn't help that my long gown was doing nothing to help with my situation.
Stumbling, I closed my eyes, preparing myself for the incoming pain but it never did even after a few seconds.Instead, I landed on a soft embrace.
Opening my eyes, I was greeted by Jordan's dark orbs that did nothing but take my breath away.
Looking at that breathtaking chiseled jawline and sharp eyebrows I missed for the last five months, I was sent into a trance.
I had this itching feeling to touch him and I did.
The years we were apart did him justice and added charm to his already rugged handsomeness.
Tracing my fingers on his sinful contours, I found my tears falling without restraint.
“ Why?" I asked, unable to control myself.
“ Why do you treat me this way? I never did anything to you to guarantee this treatment." I cried, the sadness in my heart choking the life out of me.
“ Hazel…” Jordan called, his voice coming out pained.
“ I only wanted to be a good mate to you. I don't care about titles or power. I just wanted you. Why did you humiliate me?" I choked out, my tears blurring my vision.
Jordan used his fingers to wipe my tears, the look on his face screaming pain and remorse.
But Jordan isn't someone capable of feeling remorse so I ruled out the possibility of him being regretful of his actions.
“ I wish I could tell you everything but I can't, I want to make things straight but…” Jordan started only to stop mid-way.
Looking up to him, his gaze seemed trained behind me.
Then I heard it, the clicks and low growls.
Turning around, my blood drained on my face from the sight that greeted me.
Before us stood more than a hundred masked men, armed to kill.
“ It's a full Moon tonight. They are here." Jordan murmured, his gaze trained on the masked men.
" What do you mean?" I asked, finding his statement weird.
“ You have to run Hazel. Don't look back and don't come back." Jordan ordered in his Alpha command.
" But… "
“ Now!" He roared, his eyes suddenly turning red like a blazing fire.
