Chapter 2

The words that came out of their mouths were of course a shock to me. At first, I thought they were laying a prank on me. After hearing what they said, I immediately checked my phone for the email, and there it was. Dear Diana, Good job on the previous year! I am very proud of you. You're becoming quite the young lady. As you know, the business is good. Actually, we're expanding. Our rival, the Soul Group, actually proposed a partnership. I accepted this, of course. The Soul group has two sons—twins. The older heir is Aries Soul and the younger twin is Orion Soul. They are sent to the Academy to meet you. Be pleasant to them. Aries Soul is your age, and he's your future husband. The wedding is due next month, Diana. He is a handsome young man with exceptional skills. He is quite like you. Actually, looking at his file, he is the male version of you. We will meet for dinner on the night of your first day of school. With love, Mom I looked at the man before me. I didn't care how handsome he was. I don't know him. I don't want to get to know him. But a business deal is a deal. I'm looking at a killer as skilled as I am if not better. "Should we start over?" he asked, "I'm Aries Soul." I accepted his hand, shaking it. "Diana Wu," I say, "Are you aware that we're getting married next month?" He simply shrugged. "Isn't it the custom for people like us?" He sat on the other chair beside mine, sandwiched me between him and his brother. "We should talk about this on the break. The class will start soon." He was calm and collected. He's opposite to me. My reaction is much more emotional and... well, grand! I am Diana Wu, after all. Everything about me is grand from my intelligence to my beauty, and from my wealth to my power. Still, I cannot imagine why my mother would have to promise my hand to our enemy—the Souls. I watched him all throughout class. I was barely able to focus on whatever the hell our teacher's blabbering about. I don't like this at all. He shouldn't either. After what seemed like hours, the bell rang signaling it was time for our first break. I rushed out of the door trying to avoid all contact with them. Unfortunately, some hand caught mine, pulling me back and causing my head to bump into his chest. "Apologies," he said, "Are you okay?" I looked up, meeting Aries' bright blue eyes. I pulled my arm back, letting him know I wasn't in favor of the situation. "Never ever touch me the way you did just now." "We agreed to speak of the matter on our break," he says calmly yet again, "Let's go." He dragged me into one of the hidden rooms in the academy, locking the door behind him. Folding my arms over my chest, I glared at him. How dare he drag me? "You must be angry," he says. I snapped, "Furious!" "And you must be confused," he continued. "Insufficiently informed!" I growled. A smirk curled up his lips. "Why are you smirking?" I asked, "You're happy about this arrangement?" "It's our duty to both our families," he says, "And I know you're committed to you're family as well. I know who you are more than you know of me. You're the deadliest assassin the academy has produced. No; you're the deadliest assassin among all the other academies." "That's right," I said. "But someone is your match," he continues, "Agent X. Surely you've heard of him." "Yes," I said, "He's admired by every single student here. No one knows who he is. But in all honesty, I don't see him as an equal. I think I'm superior to him." "Tests say that you're equal in strength and intelligence," he says, "How can you be so sure you're superior?" "Because I'm Diana," I replied, pushing him. "Shall we find out?" he says, suggesting a duel. "You're suggesting that you're Agent X?" I asked, still appearing to be disinterested. "Don't make me laugh, Aries Soul." "Are you afraid of losing?" he taunts. I bit my lip. What is his deal? What does he want? To convince me that we're equals and that we should marry as our families wish? I don't think so. I barely know him. I can't trust him. He is a complete pain in the ass right now. He threw a punch at me, aiming it at my face. I caught his fist before it could land on me, dropping it hard. "What do you want?" "To get to know my fiance," he says, bending on one knee. He couldn't be possibly trying to propose right now. "What are you doing?" I asked, taking a step back.
