-The unexpected is usually what brings the unbelievable - -via (Quotes 'nd Notes)
Camdenland, a month ago
Her mother never directly told her about her engagement if she didn't guess it herself. She still remembered how her mother tried to evade her stare, which is full of recrimination.
It was then her mother told her about the betrothal.
"How come nobody mentioned it, nor have I seen the man," she then asked.
"Because you are always so happy, and your father and I don't have the heart to disturb that joy."
Upon hearing it, she looks at her mother with big eyes as if conveying a silent, "So it's true, I am engaged," She can still remembered how she rolled her eyes upward to stop the tears from falling as the reality sink in.
Silence has never been more deafening to her than that time. When what she heard was the sound of her heartbeat and the clamoring of her mind. It was then she realized that the life of complete freedom was nothing but an illusion. At that time, she was not so sure if she will be angry, sad, or happy as marriage has not entered her mind. All she knows is that she is a Princess, and forever she will be in their Kingdom.
She asked about his identity, and it was then her mother told her he is Crown Prince Atticus of the Pantheoceles City.
His name did nothing to her. Though she knows all about the Pantheocelesian nobility, she has never been interested in anyone outside of their Kingdom, especially men.
Her mother saw her reaction and told her in a soothing voice, "Oh! My poor baby, I thought that when you know of your engagement to a man you never even meet, let alone love will surprise you or make you angry but not jaded," she holds her in her bosom and continued. "It is our fault that we never told you before; I hope that you will find it in your heart to excuse us because we only did what we think was best for you."
"Why it has to be me, we live so far from them, and he is one of the Supreme creatures, surely he will only marry his kind?"
"Because of the pact made between your great grandfather and the Pantheocelesian King of that time." her mother answered, and she started to tell the story that is a bit familiar, but she had taken it for granted especially that peace reign in their Kingdoms.
"Twenty thousand years ago, to have this peace we are living in now, your forefather gave our old treasure to the Pantheoceles King. It vanquishes the entire monster that the King of the underworld, King Abaddon, had created. After they were able to resolve the conflict and their nemesis forever annihilated, they pledge to each other that the first princess of our Kingdom and the Crown Prince of their Kingdom will wed as a binding promise to always support each other. You are the first Princess to be born on the lineage of the King of Camdenland," her mother continues to tell her while gently stroking her head.
"When you were born, everybody is so happy for no Princess has been born in our Kingdom for more than twenty thousand years. Anyone who sees you will say that you are the most beautiful baby they have seen," she gushed.
She looked up at her mother and saw her eyes glisten like the sun flashes its lights in the deepest ocean and with a smile on her face while talking. She likes to listen when her mother talks about her baby days. It made her feel so loved and unique, and that brought a smile to her face too.
"We become so preoccupied with the overwhelming event of your birth, we forgot about the betrothal until the entourage of the King and Crown Prince of Pantheoceles City upon knowing your birth came to be in your presentation personally," her mother continues to reminisce in which she only knows now.
"Their presence made the celebration more grandeur. It was also the time that the two Supreme Being had a long discussion with your father in private; there, a scroll of the agreement was signed by them that bind you to the Crown Prince. Your father asked them to keep it a secret as you are still a baby up until the time when you reached this age."
"How old is he at the time?" she interrupted while rubbing her eyes.
"At that time, Prince Atticus was already three hundred ninety years and rumored to get engaged to one of the nobles of Celestial City if by his age of six hundred ninety no Princess in our Kingdom is born. I remembered that he asked me to hold you, and I let him. I anticipated that you would cry," she snorted, "there you were so happy and babbling with him, you even fall asleep on his chest. Before he returned you to me, he took out a bracelet and put it on your wrist."
The knocking on her door stopped her reminiscing, and she asked, "Who is there?"
"It is I, Kendra. I want to talk to you before we sleep."
She runs to the door. Opens it and let her friend in and let her sit in the chair beside her bed. Kendra is one of the girls that came from Iceberlandia kingdom. Her white colored hair and pale complexion will immediately let you think of the place where she came from, a cold place. But as the past month, since she has known her, it is her look, which is chilly. Her gray eyes are bright and shining, and upon staring at it, you can feel the warmth inside her.
"I was looking for you earlier, I have some interesting news to share with you, but you were not here, I wonder where you went?" Kendra asked.
"I went earlier to smell the fresh air of the morning. Then I was able to go to the park near us. I missed my home, so engrossed was I with my surroundings that I forgot the time," she lied.
"I have a piece of news. Earlier, Prince Celcius was here. Everyone was so surprised. He is so handsome." Kendra told her with eyes full of adoration as she said the last sentence.
"At last, his admirers' saw him in person, what did he do?"
"He was with the Lord of the Star, and do you remember the one who reads our scroll?"
"Yes, I remembered him," she answered.
"He is with them, and we were asked by the Head trainer to come out, but don't worry, it is not only you who was missing but thirty of you."
"Then what had happened?"
"Mistress Almena introduced us, but they seem to be looking for you, for they asked about the girl that came from Camdenland. I want to tell you so that if they come back again, you will not be surprised."
"Why will you think they are looking for me?"
"Who do you think has this face?" Kendra touched her face and added, "Faye, you have to be aware that your beauty will always stand out, and that face can either be a blessing here or a curse."
In their Kingdom, only a few deities and fairies had seen her up close. Those who do will say that she is beautiful, but she is not mindful of it as she is used to be called by her older brothers as their little hoyden. It is because of her climbing trees and following them in whatever they do, especially her third brother, Holden. So she grows up not showing any concern with her appearance or the opinion of others.
"Anyway, tomorrow, will you go with us?" Kendra asked, which interrupted her wandering thoughts.
"In the open theater and the market?" she clarified.
"Yes, I want to buy some hair ornaments there. I had heard that the goods here are the best in craftsmanship."
"You are right; I too will buy it also."
"I have to go now so that we can sleep early," Kendra gets up and opens the door.
She, too, stands up to follow her so she can close the door.
"See you tomorrow and have a nice dream," Kendra waved to her.
"You too," she answered back with a wave.
She closed the door and went back to her bed. Then she wondered if that guard lied to her and told the Crown Prince of her invading his private domain.
