Episode 10: The Moment Everything Changed

800 Words
--- Ammar Leaves – And Realizes He Can’t Stay Away Ammar stood at Tara’s door, his chest tight, his mind racing. He had told her everything. That he still loved her. That he had never stopped. And she… She hadn’t pushed him away. But she hadn’t held on either. He had seen the war in her eyes—the pull toward him, the fear of falling again. And yet, she had let him leave. So he walked out. Each step heavier than the last. By the time he reached his car, he wasn’t sure if he could breathe. Because for the first time, he truly understood— Loving her had never been the problem. Letting her go was. --- The Breaking Point – When She Couldn’t Hold It In Anymore The office was bustling as usual. Laughter, ringing phones, the soft hum of keyboards. And then— A sharp gasp. A metallic clatter. Blood. Tara had cut her finger. Not deep. Not serious. Just a small, clean cut from the paper she had been holding. But when she saw it—when she felt that tiny sting—it was like something inside her snapped. A sob tore from her throat before she could stop it. And suddenly, she was crying. Not because of the cut. But because it wasn’t about the cut at all. It was everything—the weight of three years apart, the way Ammar still looked at her like she was his, the way she pretended it didn’t break her every time. The whispers started almost immediately. “Why is she crying?” “Is she okay?” “She’s always been so strong…” And Tara couldn’t take it. She ran. Through the office, past the stares, into the small kitchen where no one could see her fall apart. She pressed her hands to the counter, breathing hard, trying to stop the tears. But she couldn’t. Because this time? She didn’t want to. --- Ammar Finds Her – And This Time, He Won’t Let Go Ammar had been in his office when he heard it. Her name. The murmurs. The concern. He stepped out, his gaze sharp. "Where is she?" Someone pointed toward the kitchen. And Ammar didn’t hesitate. He walked in and saw her. Her back to him. Her shoulders shaking. She didn’t hear him at first. Didn’t notice when he stepped closer, when he was right behind her. And then— “Tara.” She stiffened. Slowly, she turned. Her eyes were red, her face tear-streaked. And Ammar’s heart broke. She opened her mouth, maybe to tell him to leave, maybe to pretend she was fine— But all that came out was a whisper. “Do you still love me?” Ammar didn’t blink. “Yes.” Her breath caught. “Do you want me to stay?” He stepped closer. His voice cracked. “Yes.” Her eyes searched his, desperate, needing more. “Then say it, Ammar.” Her voice shook. “Say that you want me.” And that was it. That was the moment he shattered. Ammar sank down, his knees hitting the floor, his hands clutching her waist as if she might disappear. His forehead pressed against her stomach, and his voice broke— “Yes, Tara. Yes. I want you. I’ve always wanted you.” Her fingers slid into his hair, trembling, pulling him closer. And for the first time in years— Ammar let himself cry. Let himself feel everything. She sank to her knees with him, their arms wrapping around each other, their breaths uneven. And then— Ammar cupped her face, pressing a long, tender kiss to her forehead. Like he had years ago. Like he had never stopped wanting to. And behind them, unnoticed— Haider stood at the door. Watching. Knowing. And silently— Letting her go. --- Maya’s Last Move – And Why It Didn’t Matter Maya had seen the whole thing. Had watched Ammar break for a woman who wasn’t her. And maybe, once, she would have been angry. But now? She just felt tired. Because no matter what she did, no matter how much she tried— Tara had always been the only one he ever saw. So Maya did something she never thought she would. She walked away. Because this wasn’t her war to win. And deep down, she had always known that. --- The Ending – Or Maybe, The Beginning Tara and Ammar sat together on the office floor, still holding each other, neither willing to move. He rested his forehead against hers, their breaths mingling. "So what now?" she whispered. He smiled softly, brushing a tear from her cheek. "Now, we start again." And this time— They wouldn’t let go. --- THE END. ---
