Her Journey Begins

Chapter 2: Her Journey Begins Life Is Like Food: It Spoils No Matter What Life is like food—no matter how much you try to preserve it, eventually, it will spoil. That’s how it is with every life on this earth. No matter how hard you try to hide, to avoid danger, to run away from tragedy, fate always catches up. It finds you, no matter how fast or far you run. Now that I am all alone in this world, I continue to stand strong—for my mother. I promised myself I would carry out her last wish. No matter how painful or difficult it may be, I will do it. Not just for myself, but for the rest of my kind. Right now, I’m in my mother’s room. I’m taking one last chance to look at her things, to hold whatever she touched. Before I leave to follow the path she told me to take, I wanted to explore her room. Something in my gut tells me she left something behind, as if she knew exactly what was going to happen to her. As if she had planned for it all along. I began searching through her belongings. When I opened her drawer, my eyes caught sight of a small treasure chest. It wasn’t too tiny, but just the right size to hold something important. I opened it carefully, and inside I found three items: a handwritten letter, a credit card, and… a necklace? I picked up the letter first. My hands trembled slightly as I unfolded the paper. The handwriting was undoubtedly my mother’s. --- My Beloved Child, I know you’re reading this now. This letter is something I’ve prepared for a long time. Even before death came for me, I had sensed it. I knew something terrible was going to happen. So I believe now is the right time for you to learn everything—about where you came from, what kind of being you truly are, and the truth of your identity. There’s no easy way to say this, so I’ll go straight to the point. People have been trying to kill you since the day you were born. And as your mother, I did everything I could to keep you safe. But the truth is… I am not human. I am a vampire. A powerful one. However, the moment I chose to live among humans, I started to weaken. My powers faded, and that’s why I was unable to defend myself from the vampire who took my life—a Newly Reborn Vampire. But I didn’t die just because I was your mother. I was also the mate of your father… Brandon Luxury. He is a powerful vampire from our realm—the vampire world. Our love created something extraordinary, and that was you, my child. You’re not just any vampire. You are a rare and powerful one. You possess abilities no other vampire has. Because of this, many have been trying to capture or eliminate you. They want your power. In time, you will learn more—about me, about your father, and most importantly, about yourself. I can’t reveal too much in this letter because your powers haven’t awakened yet, and knowing too much too soon might trigger consequences that neither of us can control. Now that I’m no longer by your side, I want you to go to a place where you’ll be safe. There, you will be trained, guided, and prepared. That place is called Warden Academy. You will find it at the far end of Clandestine City. Don’t worry about your needs. Use the credit card I’ve left with this letter—it will support your living expenses and education. And the necklace… never take it off. It holds a protective charm that will shield you from harm. After reading this, go to Warden Academy right away. I’m not around anymore to protect you. You have to take care of yourself now. Save our kind. Promise me that you will defeat our enemies—for me, and for your father. I love you more than life itself. – With eternal love, Your Mother --- As I finished reading, the tears I had been holding back finally poured out. I didn’t even try to stop them. The pain of losing my mother hit me all over again, but this time, with more clarity and a deeper understanding of who I was… and what I had to become. Wiping my face, I placed the letter back in the box and took the necklace, gently fastening it around my neck. I held it for a moment, feeling its warmth, as though my mother’s presence was still with me. I left the house shortly afterward. I stopped by the bank to activate the credit card, preparing for the journey ahead. This money would be for my survival and for my education at Warden Academy. Finally, I boarded the bus headed to Clandestine City. As I stared out the window, watching the world blur past me, I made a silent promise. I will do everything you asked of me, Mom. For you, for Dad, and for our kind, I will fight. I will protect the vampires who still have families, who still have lives to live. I will make sure that no one else loses what I lost. This all began with me—and I swear, it will end with me. ---
