It was a beautiful morning a week after the wedding. And Laura has finally settled into a normal every day schedule which consisted mostly of visiting her grandma and overseeing the meals at Roland’s mansion. After all, the household staff of this particular personally purchased residence were entirely consisted of long-time servants in his family. Some were actually already working with the Ardiaz Vincent clan when her husband was but a wee boy. So beside telling them what dishes and desserts to prepare, Laura pretty much let them do their own thing with minimum supervision.
Which works for her since Roland was always dead tired after work and will normally request for aromatic mint tea and a massage from her…
And since this is the only possible tasks that would prove her deep devotion and sincere affection for him, Laura always made sure that she was free to do them at the end of her cold and unfeeling spouse’s workday.
“I heard from my chauffeur that he has been bringing you to the city hospital regularly within the whole week, Laura,” Roland mumbled into the silken bedsheets while her soft hands heavily kneaded his broad muscular back, trying to remove the knots in his hardened sinews. “Care to tell me why?”
Laura paused for a moment, silently sifting through her thoughts for the correct words to say. After all, despite being married for a week now, the young wife was still uneasy about sharing her thoughts to her new handsome husband, all the more her secrets!
“Oh, it’s nothing really,” she nonchalantly said as she tried to brush off his concerned curiosity. “It’s just my grandma and I need to check on her constantly because no one else in my family does that. Though I don’t know why…”
Roland turns around so he could look his beautiful spouse in the eye, “Is this the same grandmother who I’m supposed to help if you prove yourself faithful and trustworthy to me?” asked the shirtless dark-haired male.
Her husband’s question brought a quick but indelible flashback to Laura’s memory…
“Since you are my wife only in paper, you must prove yourself worthy to be called Mrs. Roland Ardiaz Vincent before I consider you as such. However, if you will not please me, then say goodbye to our marriage because I will divorce you which means I will no longer pay for your grandma’s operation.” Roland had first mentioned the moment they arrived at his massive and luxurious ancestral property after their wedding the week before.
Hence, Laura’s full effort to gain his confidence and affection even if its progressing very slowly…
“Yes, husband. That is indeed she,” replied the wavy-haired voluptuous female as she applied lavender-scented lotion on her dainty hands and began to continue the massage, but on his sculpted brawny chest this time. “Her name is Lauren and she is suffering from chronic kidney disease and diabetes. Plus, she has a weak heart.”
The bearded and dark-haired muscled male was silent for a moment, waiting for Laura to finish rubbing down his bulging and slightly hairy chest, “Alright then, get dressed woman. We are paying your grandmother a visit this evening.”
The light brown-eyed lass blinked a couple of times while processing what she just heard. It was too much of a surprise for Laura to know that Roland wanted to see her granny that it actually took a full minute to understand what the hazel-eyed businessman had just told her. When she finally realized what Roland was saying, Laura was already bouncing on her heels repeatedly but surreptitiously.
“Do you really mean it, Roland?” the curvy maiden breathed excitedly. “This would really mean a lot to me…”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah…” interrupted the tall comely man as he stood up to put his branded long-sleeved shirt back on. “Don’t make a big deal out of this, Laura. Now get ready to leave because I don’t like waiting.”

It only took her five minutes to get dressed and ready to go. She sat inside Roland’s white Porsche Taycan Sedan with a huge smile on her face.
And it only took them 10 minutes more to get to her grandma’s room thanks to the very light traffic at that time.
“Oh hello, my dear grandchild. I wasn’t expecting you to return so soon,” the frail elderly lady delightedly exclaimed then she saw the good-looking guy beside Laura. “Oh, who is this handsome young man with you, deary?”
Laura glanced at Roland, unsure of what to say. She knew for sure that her family has not told her grandmother about her arranged marriage, nor was Roland about to announce his intention to pay for the old woman’s operation if his marriage was successful.
The gorgeous man shook his head imperceptibly as their gazes met. He too was not sure if he should give granny Lauren any hope considering that everything relied on Laura being the right wife for him.
“Grandma, this is my good friend Roland,” Laura explained, her sweet smile fully shining since she already knew what to say. “He just wants to meet you because I told him what a great storyteller you are.”
“Oh, really now?” Lauren pleasantly remarked, her amber eyes gleaming at her comely, Italian-suited visitor. “Well, thank you for bringing me an audience, child.”
The three of them were still chatting and laughing an hour later…
“So, that’s why Laura and your name are so similar,” chuckled the lightly tanned tycoon. “You actually named her.”
“Yes, I did,” the elderly dame said with a short laugh. “And you should hear her stories, one of these days, Roland. She and I are very much the same, even in that aspect.”
“I think I’ll do that soon, grandma Lauren,” the young bearded husband promised with a small smile while glancing at the lovely lady beside him. “As a matter of fact, I will do so when we get home.”
The grey-haired lady smiled to herself upon hearing her male guest’s imperceptible slip…
Madame Lauren’s thoughts: I knew that this man is more than just a “good friend” to my granddaughter. I really should ask her about him on her future visits here.
When they got back to the Ardiaz Vincent mansion, Roland did not leave his wife alone in her bedroom as he usually does. That night, he slept soundly beside her as he hugged her closely under the covers. This was after her story about one of her untold tales about her childhood.
And Laura fell asleep with her bright smile still going strong…
