Chapter 1: Encounter

1390 Words
Somewhere among the ruins of Old Russia, there was a huge, metallic and abandoned structure. Like a tower going all the way to the clouds: the Skywatch. And somewhere in there, a mysterious figure in worn out clothes was currently running away from some weird creatures, climbing and sneaking around the whole building. "Come on four-arms! You won't ever catch me like that!" the mysterious figure yelled in a joking voice as he kept on running, jumping and avoiding his pursuers while toying and mocking them. "You seem a lot slower than yesterday! Come on, pick up the pace you bunch of idiots!" The weird creatures finally gave up after a very long and useless chase, and after some time walking through the vast wastelands of Old Russia, the mysterious person finally arrived at his hideout. It was some kind of medium-sized abandoned bunker buried underground, but with a well hidden entrance on the surface. 'Well that was lame, but at least I got enough for the next few weeks' he thought with disappointment, only to then turn around and take a look at his... home. It was all dirty and messy. Scraps and all kinds of mechanical tools on one side, food and a tiny hammock he built himself to sleep on the other. "Mmmm... looks fine to me" By the way, this mysterious person was actually a mere 16-year old boy called Ravi Azarov, who had in fact being living in that old dirty bunker for a very... VERY long time. He took off the piece of cloth covering most of his face only to finally reveal his dark blue hair and dark piercing blue eyes. He rested for a while and checked up on what little provisions he got. And after that, he kept on working on a top secret project he had been developing since long ago. When the night arrived, Ravi headed outside and took a seat over a nearby rock, only to then stare at the wide sky without saying a single word. 'One day... hopefully' he thought with a slightly eager expression. There was no one around. No people. No animals. Just him and the starry night. Life was empty, at least for him. No friends or comrades, and definitely no family. Then suddenly, as he just kept on staring at the moon in complete silence, a feeling he was already used to, but didn't know how to call, invaded him. The feeling of loneliness... Ravi had no idea though that at any moment, his current lifestyle could easily change in a blink. ... ... ... The next morning, Ravi headed outside once again ready to start a new day. However, he then widened his eyes at the sight of an unusual object coursing through the sky. "What the...?" the human boy muttered to himself, after which he realized that the weird object was a ship... A spaceship that seemed to be falling rather than just flying by... In fact, that's how it was. The space vehicle ended up crashing somewhere close, and Ravi didn't think twice about heading towards it in order to check what he could find. Luckily, the ship had landed on a huge mass of sand rather than on plain ground, so it didn't suffer as much damage as it would've in other circumstances. There were some pieces of metal and a huge broken wing scattered around, but the main structure was in good condition. Ravi disposed himself to gather whatever seemed valuable. Nonetheless, he quickly realized he wasn't the only one with such intentions. 'Oh no' the bluenette boy thought with concern after noticing a group of those four-armed creatures from before quickly approaching the zone. 'Damn it, too many of them. I was hoping to grab a few pieces too, but it seems that will be impossible' he added after rushing to hide behind a nearby rock. At that exact moment however, one of those four-armed monsters finally noticed the young boy and sneaked behind him without being noticed, only to then knock him down with a powerful punch. "ACK!" Ravi groaned after barely blocking the attack and hitting the ground hard. This was bad... All of the creatures were now aware of him and approaching with mean looks and sharp knives on their hands. Ravi tried to escape, but ended up being cornered between the heavily armed monsters and the very same rock he used to hide just before. "Oh... eh... come on guys... hehe..." he stuttered while trying to get out of that situation somehow. "You know I was only joking, right? I never meant any of the things I said... hehehe..." The creatures weren't in the mood for talk, and they were also ready to attack at any moment. But then, as if it was a flashing thunder coming to the rescue, some mysterious figure jumped out of the crashed ship, ready to strike and startling both Ravi and the four-armed monsters on the way. What is more, this new person wasn't just experienced in fighting, it was also quite fast and agile... AND... it easily took down most of the enemies without sweating. Well, not exactly... The truth is the stranger was having quite a bit of trouble dealing with the monsters, but in the end, it was clearly outmatching them by a lot. "STAY AWAY YOU SCUM!" the unknown figure yelled while wielding a pair of daggers surrounded with an aura of lightning. Finally, after a pretty short one-sided battle, the rest of the enemies gave up and ran away in fear. On the other hand, Ravi couldn't help but to remain speechless and without an idea on how to react. "Well, this is unexpected" the mysterious stranger said in a soft and light voice. "I never thought I'd find another human around here" Whoever that person was, it was wearing some really weird modern-looking clothes: a skin-tight black suit with a light white chest protector at the top, a small belt which was mainly to save its sharp daggers, a white hood with a short white cloak, and a helmet covering its whole head. There were some more accessories like a few thin armor pieces on the wrists and legs... but that was basically it. "Are you ok?" The weirdly dressed person asked Ravi. "I'm... ok" this last one answered in a doubtful tone. "Do you need anything? How did you get here?" Ravi didn't reply. "Ehh... are you sure you are ok?" the stranger asked once again as Ravi showed no intention of saying something in return. He just limited himself to lay on the ground while examining the person in front of him from every possible angle. "Hey... are you listening to me?" "Why are you wearing a helmet?" the blue-haired boy finally asked out of curiosity. "Eh?" "Why do you have those weird lightning powers? And how do I know you are not another of those crazy-looking creatures, eh?" "What are you talking about? I'm human, just like you" the mysterious person claimed, after which it approached Ravi, took off its helmet and hood, and finally revealed its face. Turns out, it was a girl... A slim, pretty and very young-looking girl of 15 years old with big chocolate-brownish eyes and short brown hair to the base of her neck that had these cute blonde tips at the very end. "See?" she said with a grin while getting on her knees. On his side, Ravi remained in silence and without the slightest idea of what to say. He had never met another real human like him in his entire life... Especially not a girl. "I'm a guardian. That's why I have these powers. You know what a guardian is, don't you?" "A... guardian?" Ravi couldn't understand what she was talking about, and as he remained there, laying on the ground with his back against the rock, the mysterious girl finally extended her hand for him to stretch. "It's nice to meet you. My name is Leah... Leah Polgaze" she added with a soft smile. "Y-yeah... hi..." Ravi finally muttered while still in surprise. And so, after holding hands and getting up from the ground, the 2 teenagers kept staring at each other with no idea that this unexpected and kind of weird encounter... would change their lives forever.
