CHAPTER 13:VISIONS OF DEATH

KIARA'S POV

Three days that is what they told me. They said I had collapsed three days ago. I was trapped inside my mind for three days. Everything I experienced was not real.

The memories came back to me in pieces. I remembered Stefan. The strange cabin. The voices. The attacks. The visions. The pain. It all felt so real. Too real.

Everyone around me said I never left the sanctuary. I never spoke to Stefan. I never fought alongside him. I never walked through those places. Experienced any of the things that happened in those days. It was inside my head. A hallucination. A manipulation.

The coven, those witches got into my mind. They searched through memories I did not know I had. They forced me into a trance creating dreams and false realities while trying to unlock my secrets. Someone stopped them though. The packs witch doctor. She broke the connection.

Now I was awake. My eyes slowly opened. The first thing I saw was the ceiling. Sunlight filtered through the curtains. Birds chirped softly outside. I stared, confused and disoriented. I was alive.

"Kiara?" I heard someone say. My head turned. Chloe sat beside the bed tears in her eyes. She burst into tears when she saw me. "Oh my God you are awake!" She threw her arms around me. "You scared me half to death."

My body was frozen. Chloe was my friend, my sister in everything but blood. The vision, no not a dream, a vision in that reality I saw her betray me. I watched her turn against me. I watched her cause pain. The image flashed through my mind. Hugging her felt strange. Wrong. I hated myself for thinking it.

Chloe was here for three days never leaving my side. I could see it in her eyes the exhaustion, the relief. She loved me. Did she not? Why could I not shake that feeling? "Kiara?" she asked softly. "What is wrong?" I forced a smile. "Nothing." A lie. I could not tell her. Not now. Not when I did not understand it myself.

Then I heard Kaels voice. "Kiara?" My heart stopped. Kael, my mate, the Alpha, the father of my children. He was alive. He was standing, breathing, safe. In my hallucinations I saw death. Much death. I knew it was not meaningless. Those things would happen. Not now not the same. They were coming. If I failed Kael would die. Chloe would die. Everyone I loved would die.

Kael rushed over dropped to his knees. His hand touched my cheek. "You scared me Kiara." His voice cracked. "I thought I was going to lose you." Tears spilled down my face. I threw my arms around him. He held me close. "The babies are stronger than we think they are but also growing so fast,it won’t be long before you give birth Kiara so you really have to hold on tight" he said.

I laughed through my tears because I never actually thought he would care so much about the babies and I.

The room fell silent. The witch doctor stepped forward. "You gave us quite a fight, child." I looked at her. "What happened?" "The coven entered your mind " she said. "They searched for answers." "Did they find them?" Her expression darkened. "No." "Then why do I feel like they saw something?" She hesitated. "Because they did."

Everyone was quiet. "What?" I whispered.

"The powers, inside you protected themselves " she said. "Whatever memories are hidden they remain hidden." But my gift fought back she said. A chill ran through me. "What does that mean?" "It means while they searched your mind you saw glimpses of the future."

The room froze. Future. My heart pounded. Stefan. The attacks. Kaels death. Chloes betrayal. No. No. No. I swallowed hard. "Future?" "Possibilities " She corrected.

"Nothing is written in stone." What I saw may come to pass it may not. I knew. The things I saw were real. Maybe not today. Maybe not tomorrow. Someday. I was not ready. Not yet.

Kael squeezed my hand. "You do not have to face anything." I looked at him at his eyes at the love shining inside them. Fear gripped my heart. In my visions those eyes had closed forever. "Kiara?" Chloe asked. I turned to her. That strange feeling washed over me. She smiled lovingly. But a voice whispered she betrays you. I pushed the thought away. No. Not Chloe. Never Chloe. She was my friend, my family. Still the fear remained.

"I think " I said quietly "I need some time."

Everyone nodded. As they left I stopped them. "Kael." He turned. "Can you stay?" He nodded. "I want to speak to Kael " I said.

Chloe smiled. "Take all the time you need." As she walked out I watched her watched her until the door closed. It was just me and Kael.

He sat beside me. Concern filled his eyes.

"What is it Kiara?" I stared at him the man I knew I had to protect.Tears filled my eyes. "Kael " I said. He held my hand. "What is it?" My voice broke. "I saw you die." Fear entered his eyes. "Tell me everything."
