Chapter 35 Guests

2184 Words
Leoric's POV I glare at him, trying to push her behind me until she is out of his sights, but this time she resists while still keeping her hands wrapped around my armor-covered bicep. He sees her hands on me willingly as his eyes lock with mine. "What is your kind doing here?" he spats, sounding disgusted with me as I started, "Our intrusion was unintended.. We were lost, but sent this way, not by our own accord. We had no choice about where we landed." I declared, as the wolf gave me a look that said he didn't believe a word I was saying. He looks around me while stepping to the side, I think to get a better look at Gabriella. "Beautiful maiden, I can see that you ooze many thoughts and understanding.. Am I being too bold by saying such things?" He asks as I notice her head shaking in my peripherals while she stays silent. I think waiting for what he has to say, because with the look on his face, it shows that he has much more to say, he is just waiting on her response. But I am already hating every single word coming from his persuading lips. He, like many other wolves, know how to talk themselves in or out of anything. I have seen it happen far too many times to not be annoyed by it. "I am going to be as forthcoming with you as the leaves in the breeze.. I don't trust him, he looks deceiving, and I have never been able to trust his kind, especially when he is wearing the shield of the royal family.. But you, my dear, look honest and true. So.. What are you doing within our pack boundaries? Here to slay us or is what he says true? Was it a mistake?" he asks her as Gabriella quickly breaks down as I had hoped she wouldn't. But with the lack of experience outside of her village, I am sure that she doesn't realize that there are many beasts that will use that information against you. Especially the conniving werewolves. "It's a long story.. But I was just trying to get away from the King before he killed me.. Then Leoric chased me and captured me to take me back to him.. And when I tried to escape again, we were attacked by undead. We were then sent here with some sort of magic.. We didn't know where we were.. It was an honest mistake by both of us, but there was no intent to hurt anyone here.. He was being honest about that." I watched his eyes widen, being surprised by her honesty when she doesn't even know if these people can be trusted. But as for myself, I am surprised by the fact that she willingly defended me without hesitation again. I watch her every move as her hands adjust on my arm, but they do not leave it as she glances from him then back to me, staying almost glued to my side. "Huh.. Interesting.. How about while we are trying to figure out what to believe and trust.. We just take the both of you with us.. You will have a meal and warmth.. For the time being?" he asks this to Gabriella, when she shouldn't be the one making these decisions alone. I'm the one with all the experience out here, not her. And he is good at convincing her otherwise, which is not what should be happening. "There is no way we would be able to trust your intentions. We will continue out on our own. Thanks for the offer, but you can be on your way." I spat back at him, gaining a heated glare sent in my direction as a forced laugh emerges from his lips. "Oh that's a misunderstanding on your part, since I wasn't actually asking, I was just trying to sound non-threatening to your gorgeous companion, while bringing you back for further discussion between me and my pack.. But if threats are what you need to understand me more clearly, then you are both coming with us whether you like it or not, while I am deciding what to do with you. Oh and if you decide to resist, my men will make sure to show you exactly why it's good to listen to me instead of doing what you think is best." He snaps this back in response as I feel my teeth clenching knowing we have to go because I don't have a chance to get us out of this otherwise. "Come on Leo.. Don't fight this, you will get hurt if you do.. I know you don't trust them, but he seems nice, and I bet he means well... and this way we will have some time to talk with him and figure a way out of this. You know, in a way that we will both leave alive." Gabriella whispers this to me as I look down into her pleading eyes as she wraps her arm around mine at this point. "Yeah, it might be good to listen to your little traveling companion.. While you're at it, you should probably sheath your sword before you hurt yourself.. or her." The wolf spats at me again, making me madder, and wanting to say something in response. I flex, feeling the anger consuming me easily at the sight of his smug features, knowing that he has won this just because of his numbers. I watch as he chuckles at me, so I automatically take a step forward to say and do something just to shut him up and make him think twice before messing with us again. But all it takes is a slight movement from me before Gabriella's arm tightens around mine as she automatically brings it around her as if I am holding her. In that swift movement her hand lands directly on the crest that is over my chest. Her body stands in front of mine as she automatically leans on me with it, making me freeze instinctively because it is her. "Leo.. Please don't do that.. I know what you are thinking, but please.. Hear my words, they are only full of concern for you in this situation." Her begging of me to listen is all it takes to keep my eyes on hers, knowing she is probably right. I want to beat the fur off of that man, but her angelic features that are worried for me, is all I need to stand in place, like a statue. I keep my eyes locked with hers as I nod then say softly, "As you wish of me." I watch a small smile grow as she stares up at me for a silent moment that seems as if it will last forever. I tighten my arm around her, bringing her closer even when we thought that wasn't possible. My actions haven't changed her sights that are still glued on me. I wish this could last forever. "Gabby." I say to her as she hums out waiting for what I have to say, I lean in, getting as close as I can. That is until the wolf decides to ruin this moment for me. "Your sword needs to be sheathed before I make you sheath it myself." He spats at me as I glance from him then back to Gabriella. "Please put away your sword... Leo please, for me." She whispers this again as I swallow my pride, slowly sheathing my sword. "For you, I will." I say this which causes her to smile bigger. "For that I Thank you." She says as I nod my head, looking over at the werewolves now surrounding us. Just hoping this isn't a huge mistake on my part. They come up behind me taking my sword and knife before walking away. "Follow them." Is all that is said so I grab Gabriella's hand. She willingly lets me have it in my hold. I pull her in front of me before wrapping my arms around her to pick her up, just like before with my arm behind her back and the arm under her legs. But this time I can see the comfort taking over her features. I can clearly see that she feels comfortable with my hold on her as if she trusts me. Which is something I never knew that I needed. The wolves started to panic with my abrupt actions. "Put her down! What are you planning? Trying to run with her? Because I can tell you that you won't make it far." The leader demands this of me as I glared over at me like he was an i***t. "I will not put her down and there is nothing you could do right now to make that happen. She is hurt and cannot walk. I will hold her to help her get to your pack. Now calm down pup." I state the nickname with disgust, letting him know I don't care what he says. You can tell he either hates my nickname for him or he just hates how I stand up to him, but either way I could care less. The leader looks at her feet that you can clearly see are hurt, instantly believing me as I feel her leaning on me as she tucks her head into the crook of my neck. Her hand reaches up and, cupping around my neck on the other side, causing her scent to fill my senses, calming me down with her sweet aroma and gentle touch. I walk right behind these enemies, holding her tightly to my chest. We walked for a little bit further, surrounded by wolves the entire time. They lead us into the boundaries of their little camp that is not their main pack lands, then taking us to a cluster of trees off to the side. "We are here, you may put her down." he says this to me, making it sound like I have a choice when I know that I don't by all the heated glares that are being sent in my direction. I look down at her as she gives me a nod before I gently set her down on her feet and when she looks comfortable, I let her go and stand up. Automatically, I can feel one of her arms wrapping around my arm, as the other hand holds onto my hand and I don't mind one bit. This makes me feel like I am protecting her just as much as I would imagine that she feels safe with me here as long as we are together. "You will stay here for a moment, but not as prisoners, just as people we don't know yet.. And as much as I want to trust you my dear, I can't in good consciousness. So we will have to tie you up for the time being." He explains to Gabriella before taking her hand out of mine, and using it to pull her away from me, just a little bit, but my hand instantly wraps around her, letting her feel safe with me while he holds her one hand. She looks over at me with a small smile on her face, before looking back at him. He lifts her hand just to kiss the back of it as he bows, but looks back at her awaiting a response. "I... understand." she softly says to him as other men walk up, grabbing her arms to pull her away from me as I watch the panic set in as she starts to lean on me while slipping her arms out from their grip just to grab for my torso, wrapping her arms around me. I can see the fear riddled on her features as she looks up at me for help, feeling scared of what this aggressiveness is for. The anger completely consumes me seeing her in this state. "Get your filthy hands off of her.. Right now or I will rip them off. Can't you see you're scaring her?!" I get mad at that sight, they are pulling her away from me as I instantly am pushing them off of her as I try to pull her back to me. My arm is wrapped around her back as she puts both of her arms around my torso again, pushing her face into my chest as she gasps for air out of fear. But this action just calls for more wolves to come and help separate us. The first set of men I easily push away from us, but the next wave is bigger and stronger than the last. They peel us apart as I struggle the entire time, trying to get closer to her the further they pull me away from her, and she sees this. I have shown that I am not going without a fight if she wants me there with her. She looks worried as she should be. I just hope this isn't our last moment together.
