I stirred in the middle of the night, my body nestled against the warmth of Ryder’s bed. The weight of sleep still pressed on me, but something faint pulled at my senses—voices. My mind was foggy at first, but as I blinked my eyes open, I realized Ryder wasn’t in bed with me.
The room was dark, illuminated only by the soft glow of the moonlight streaming through the window. I shifted under the sheets, rubbing my eyes and focusing on the muffled sounds outside the door. Ryder was talking to someone. Slowly, I tuned in, turning up my heightened hearing to make out the conversation.
It was Justin.
"Are you serious?" I heard Justin say, his voice low but carrying a hint of disbelief. "That's the mark she left on you?"
