Alice Svenson was thirty years of age, five feet two inches tall, with blue eyes and a flowing mane of blond hair that hinted at her Scandinavian roots. A qualified chiropodist, she worked at a private chiropody clinic on Church Street, in the centre of the city of Liverpool. Owned by Dale Moran and employing four chiropodists, Alice was popular with clients, due to her skill, looks and a vivacious personality, inherited jointly from her Swedish father, a former sea captain, and her mother, an equally good-looking former professional dancer.
