Prologue -Primrose Blackthorn

Primrose (P.O.V)

I happily glided across the kitchen floor as I was preparing a special dinner for myself and my husband of 3 years Grayson. I hope with the news I have for him will cheer him up as he has been acting different the past few days.

Today was going to be one of the most rememberable nights of our lives as I just found out I'm almost 3 months pregnant. I wanted to announce it at the birthday party I was planning for him unfortunately I'm an impatient person and couldn't wait a month to tell him.

I would c***k within moments of seeing him so a dinner was the only option I had left. It took all of my self-control not head straight to his office after my doctor's appointment to tell him the news.

I cheered as the steak came out perfectly cooked the way Grayson liked it. With the steak when a good amount of roasted garlic potatoes sweet corn and garlic bread.

Once the food was plated perfectly on both our plates. I set them down on the table and walked towards the fridge grabbing the chilled bottle of wine.

I placed a bottle of wine in the ice between our seats. I removed my apron putting it on the counter. I straighten my dress as I heard the front door opening.

I smiled as Grayson walked in but I instantly had a bad feeling as he had a blank expression on his face but I push it aside with a smile.

"Welcome Home babe". I said walking towards him kissing him on his cheek I felt him stiffen under my touch. "I made your favourite tonight". I said as I grabbed him by his hand even if he was stiff I pulled him towards the table.

It was completely awkward between us as Grayson took his seat and I poured him a glass of wine to go with his food. I tried to stay in an upbeat mood as I took my seat. The only thing that kept me going was the hope his mood would change after dinner. My eyes glazed over the envelope that was under my napkin.

My stomach was in tight knots as I picked at my dinner as Grayson hadn't said one word to me throughout the whole entire meal.

"How was your dinner?". I asked nervously as Grayson looked up at me.

"It's fine". Grayson said dryly before taking a sip of his wine.

"What's going on Grayson you've been different the past few days". I said worriedly as I extended my hand across the table only for him to yank his hand away.

For a few minutes Grayson didn't say anything as he looked at me. I shifted uncomfortably in my seat and I could feel my heart racing out of my chest. His words made my heart drop and eyes widen.

"Why did you cheat on me?". Grayson said coldly with no emotion in his voice.

"I what....". I said not knowing what to say.

"Why did you cheat on me Primrose was I not good enough?". Grayson asked angrily.

"Where is all this coming from please don't tell me your letting your insecurities get to you again". I said worriedly. No matter how many times Grayson try to deny his insecurities I knew our age gap always played a factor into it.

"My insecurities has nothing to do with this. So stop avoiding my question". Grayson yelled as he slammed his hands on the table making me jump.

"I'm not avoiding anything I have never cheated on you". I said angrily as I stood up from the table.

"Don't lie to me Primrose". Grayson said as he towered over me.

"I'm not lying to you what reason would I?". I asked as tears fill my eyes but I didn't let them fall.

"For my money before you met me you had nothing you struggled to make ends meet". Grayson said before either of us could register what happen my hand was high up in the air as his face was turned to the side.

"I never once asked you for anything so don't come throwing anything in my face. I never once wanted you for your money I wanted you for you I was drawn to your maturity". I hissed angrily as I grabbed the envelope off of the table.

"Where are you going?". Grayson asked as I walked away.

"What does it look like I'm going Mr Blackthorn I'm going to pack my things". I said making Grayson eyes widen. "It's obvious you don't trust me if you accusing me of cheating on you when there's no trust in a relationship there isn't one". I said ignoring the clenching of my heart.

I walked away letting a shock Grayson behind. I immediately went to pack my things not letting my tears fall. Tonight was supposed to be a night of celebration but turned into a night of heartbreak.

Once I had everything I bought myself packed and changed into a comfortable outfit. I walked out of my old bedroom heading towards the entrance to find Grayson standing there.

"Here take this". Grayson said handing me a thick envelope.

"What's this for?". I asked as I look back and forth between him and the envelope full of money.

"It's to help you start over you should be getting a call in a few days to finalize our divorce". Grayson said making my heart shattered whatever hope I had left.

"I don't need your money Mr Blackthorn I never did". I said handing the envelope back along with my engagement ring and wedding band. "It's good to know how low you think of me". I said before turning on my heel and dragging my suitcase behind me towards my car.

That night was the last time I ever saw Grayson Blackthorn. I did everything through a lawyer until everything was finalized. I accepted nothing from our divorce I survived without him and I would do it again.
