VIVIAN’S POV The car ride was quiet. Nyqxee’s gaze remained fixed out the window, her fingers absentmindedly tracing the fabric of her lap. The air between us felt heavy with unspoken thoughts, and I could feel the weight of her silence pressing against me. Wolves like her, worn and tired from too many battles, too many losses, needed time to adjust. I wasn’t going to rush her. So, I spoke instead. "So, are you in high school?" I asked, keeping my tone light as I let the scenic route stretch out before us. The tall trees, green and endless, blurred past like rivers of life rushing by. She didn’t respond immediately. Her eyes seemed distant, lost in thought. The silence dragged on, thick with hesitation. Then, after a long pause, she spoke, her voice soft, almost as if she was speaking
