EVE'S POV
I grabbed my phone with shaking hands and dialed Mary.
“Hello, sweetheart,” she chirped. “Now, spill the gist! No secrets”
“Mary, that has to wait. Kelvin is gone. He's nowhere to be seen,” I said, my voice barely a whisper.
“What do you mean gone? Like…missing?”
"I... I'm not sure. I..I”,
"Eve, can you take a deep breath? Take it easy. Now calmly tell me what happened."
“I don’t know. I woke up, and he wasn’t her. I thought he was in the bathroom, but it was empty. He left the water running—like he wanted me to think he was there. I asked the receptionist—she said he left at 6:30 and told her I knew.”
