PART 5 – THE INEVITABLE CONFRONTATION
1. NADINE – TRAPPED IN THE SHADOWS
Her gaze was locked on the figure standing outside the window.
Adrian Callway.
The man who should have been in prison.
The man who should never be able to reach her again.
But now, he was out there. His dark eyes pierced through the glass, gripping Nadine’s attention with an undeniable force.
Her heart pounded loudly, its rhythm echoing in her throat. Her body felt weak, but her legs were frozen in place, unable to move. This wasn’t real. It couldn’t be.
Yet the vibration of her phone in her hand confirmed the cold, harsh reality.
Adrian: Open the door, Nadine. Don’t make me wait.
Her fingers tightened around the phone, as if the small object could protect her from the man standing outside.
Adrian couldn’t be here. He should be locked away behind bars, far from her reach, unable to touch her again.
Yet, he was here.
A faint, dry laugh echoed from beyond the glass. Adrian’s lips curved into a grin she knew all too well—the kind that told her this wasn’t a coincidence. This was a plan.
A cold shiver crawled up her spine.
How could this be? How could Adrian be here?
Her mind spun, desperately trying to piece together every clue she had ignored until now. Lucas had said they were still looking for strong evidence. Everyone thought Adrian was still in prison.
Everyone was wrong.
Adrian had never really been imprisoned.
It had all been a game.
And now, he was here to take back something he considered his own—Nadine.
Her throat tightened. She had to do something.
Her hand trembled as she typed her reply.
Nadine: What do you want, Adrian?
Two seconds later, her phone vibrated again.
Adrian: I don’t like repeating myself, Nadine.
From outside, she saw Adrian tilt his head slightly, as though studying her with keen interest.
Damn.
Before she could make a decision, the door to her room suddenly opened.
Lucas.
His eyes immediately went from Nadine, standing frozen, to the window. His jaw tightened as he saw Adrian standing outside.
And in that moment, the world seemed to stop spinning.
2. LUCAS – TO PROTECT OR TO DESTROY?
Lucas’ blood boiled when he saw Adrian Callway standing just a few steps away from them.
No longer imprisoned. No longer hidden.
And worse—he was close to Nadine.
Damn.
Without thinking, Lucas quickly pulled Nadine behind him, standing as a shield between her and Adrian. His eyes burned with anger and hatred.
“How the hell are you here?” his voice was low, filled with threat.
Adrian simply smiled faintly, calm as ever. As if this situation was one he had orchestrated from the very beginning.
“Lucas,” he said softly. “You didn’t think I’d just sit back, did you?”
Lucas clenched his fists. “You should be in prison.”
Adrian shrugged lightly, as if it didn’t matter. “Should be? You know better than that, Lucas. There’s no place in this world that can hold me.”
Lucas wanted to strike him right then and there.
But he knew Adrian wasn’t someone who could be beaten with mere anger. He needed to think smart.
Quickly, Lucas pulled out his phone to call someone—maybe the police, maybe someone who could help.
But before he could press the dial button, Adrian raised a single finger.
“Don’t do that, Lucas,” he said casually. “Or you’ll regret it.”
Lucas stiffened. “What do you mean?”
Adrian gave a thin smile. “You think I came here unprepared?”
A chill ran down Lucas' spine.
“What are you doing, Adrian?”
Adrian glanced at Nadine, still standing behind Lucas, her face full of fear.
“I’m just taking back what’s mine,” he answered calmly, but the threat in his voice was unmistakable.
Lucas straightened his posture, his body tense. “Nadine isn’t yours.”
Adrian chuckled softly, then looked at Lucas with a dismissive gaze.
“You think you can protect her?”
Lucas didn’t respond.
But before he could act, a knock sounded at the door.
Lucas turned cautiously.
And the voice from outside made his heart stop.
Queen Dior.
“Nadine? Lucas? I’m outside.”
Lucas looked at Nadine, confused. “Does she know about this?”
Nadine shook her head quickly. “No way.”
Lucas approached the door cautiously. But before he could open it…
His phone vibrated.
A message from an unknown number.
“Open the door, Lucas. Or you’ll regret it.”
Lucas felt something cold crawl over his body.
It was a trap.
And they were already too late to escape.
3. QUEEN DIOR – FRIEND OR TRAITOR?
From behind the door, Queen Dior bit her lip.
Her hands shook slightly as she knocked again.
She knew Nadine and Lucas were inside.
But she also knew Adrian was outside.
Her heart raced, guilt flooding her chest.
She didn’t want to see Nadine destroyed. She didn’t want this betrayal to be revealed in such a terrible way.
But she also loved Lucas.
And if Adrian truly couldn’t be stopped… maybe this was the only way.
Her hand rose to knock on the door once more, but before she could do so, a voice sounded from behind her.
Adrian’s voice.
“Just do it, Queen.”
Her breath hitched.
She closed her eyes for a moment, then hesitantly placed her hand on the doorknob.
In a matter of seconds, everything would change.
Queen Dior took a hesitant step forward, her heart in turmoil. Fear and guilt fought within her. Every step she took toward the door felt heavier, as if the weight of the world was resting on the decision she was about to make.
With trembling hands, she gripped the doorknob and turned it slowly. The sound of the door opening made the air inside the room feel even more tense. Outside, Adrian stood with an air of confidence, as though he knew this was the final move to make.
“Nadine,” Queen Dior said in a hoarse voice. “Lucas.”
Nadine’s eyes fixed on her, confusion written all over her face. There was a mix of fear and a hint of relief, as though she thought there might still be a way out.
But when her eyes shifted back to the window and she saw Adrian, she went still. Her face changed, as if realizing there was no easy way out now.
Adrian smiled in victory. “Finally, everything is clear,” he said, stepping closer. “Nadine, you know what you have to do.”
Queen Dior looked at him, then back at Nadine. “I… I don’t want this, Nadine. I don’t want to see you hurt.”
Lucas stepped forward, positioning himself between Nadine and Adrian. “If you think we’re going to give up, Adrian, you’re wrong. We won’t let you take anything from us.”
Adrian looked at Lucas with a cold stare. “You think you can fight back? You know this isn’t about physical strength. It’s about who controls this game.”
Nadine felt as though she were trapped between two worlds. One world that had been shattered by the past and another trying to push her toward a better future. But now, both worlds collided, and she didn’t know which was more dangerous.
Queen Dior lowered her head, her voice barely a whisper. “I… I can’t fight this.”
Nadine bit her lip, trying to hold back the tears that were threatening to spill. “Queen, don’t. Don’t say that.”
But Queen Dior only bowed her head, unable to face her friend’s broken expression. “I’m sorry, Nadine. I can’t pretend anymore.”
As Queen Dior stepped back and moved aside, Nadine felt the world around her crumble. She couldn’t believe what had just happened. Her trust had been shattered, and everything she thought was safe now felt distant and torn apart.
Adrian moved closer. “Now, Nadine. You know what you have to do.”
Meanwhile, Lucas and Queen Dior stood silent, their hearts torn, watching as everything was about to change.
