Nicholas’s POV:
“Shall we have dinner together?” I asked her, diverting her eyes from her phone.
She was reading message from my human contender. I tried so hard not to throw her phone away and slap her.
She is still a virgin, but acting like a slut.
I grinned, the desire to drink her blood was almost unbearable.
“Um, sorry, I can’t. I’m going to a Halloween party,” she replied with an awkward smile.
“With?” I pretended to ask.
She cleared her throat, “Dylan Knight,” she spoke too low.
I put my glass on the table and looked by the window. She got up from her seat and moved on my next.
“Nicholas, we’ve talked about this, I’m sorry,” she said softly and held my arm in hesitant.
I turned my head, didn’t hide my genuine hurt, but anger inside, and grabbed her hands.
“Just promise me, you will think about me,” I asked her.
You cannot make out with him the way we did.
I surely couldn’t be able my desire to kill the human if they did.
“I…will, Nic,” she answered.
She was feeling guilty about my feeling, still she will go ahead with her plan. I gave her a peck on her lips.
“So, dinner on Monday?” I asked, gazing into her eyes.
“How about Tuesday? I have a business dinner with my boss and CCO tomorrow,” she answered.
“Sure, Kimmy.”
She was wondering about the business dinner, so I texted Peter to find out about the meeting. It’s going to be late to check on the werewolf’s lead in London, but I should go anyway before my brother scolded me to.
At least, after my dinner date with Kimberly.
øøøøø
“I’m not finished with you, Vanderwood,” I pushed her chest lightly.
“Don’t touch me, Miss Miller,” she gave me a stern stare.
She gave me her another side of used to be friendly shy kind Kimberly. I grinned.
I really want to f**k this beautiful little human.
“I’m telling you to stay away from Dylan, he’s mine,” I told her, crossing my hands over the chest.
She turned around, giving me her back, and continued to reapply lipstick on her sultry soft lips.
“You’re not in position to order me around, Miss Miller. You bugged the wrong person,” she smacked her lips and gave me a sweet smile from the mirror.
Her blue eyes were popped out in that greyish white robe. Her costume was a full covered, but still showed off her stunning figure.
“As long as you’re with Dylan, you will be my business. You know, you’re quite pretty, why don’t you f**k another man?” I said, just like what that human b***h thought when she saw my Kimberly in hatred.
“Don’t throw me a tantrum, Miss Miller. Why don’t you f**k your own man?” Kimberly replied and turned his body on me.
Surprise, surprise, my little human has fierce side.
I grinned, but her mind went for something else. She was thinking of making out with my brother, whom she called as someone else’s man, in here, in this damned bathroom. I left her without a word before I smacked the wash basins or even her.
It has always been my f*****g brother.
Perhaps I have to let my brother hurt her feeling deeper to inflict her desire for retribution rather than remorse.
I ordered Peter before going to the exit with an old man form to avoid attention as the paparazzi still kept screaming in their direction outside the club.
Dylan’s POV:
“Wow, you look like beautiful mother of dragons, Babe,” I kissed her cheek in awe.
She was wearing violet contacts, white-grey robe with a tight pants and grey boots. The robe was tailored made for her body.
She sheepishly chuckled, brushing her silver blonde braided wig, “Thanks, and you look like, um…King in The North?” then she examined my fur cape.
“Don’t worry, this is a faux fur too,” I told her.
She laughed, “I didn’t mean that way, but okay, that’s good.”
I smiled and held her hand inside the backseat of the car. She greeted Billy and Zac soon after seeing them.
“Are you ready for the party?” I squeezed her hand lightly.
“I’m quite nervous, this is my first time attending such event. How did you find these cosplay costumes, Dylan? And those make-up artist and hairdresser did wonderful job on me. Thank you,” she smiled.
“Well, I have the invitation from Ryan and the costumes were recommended by my PA,” I replied.
I didn’t tell her that the costumes were already prepared from last week. I almost gave up asking her since she previously declined the idea, but soon after sending her pictures of our costumes this morning, she said yes. I hurriedly asked Maya to contact the make-up artists and hairdressers to be sent to ours before evening.
“So,” I cleared my throat, “How’s the hike?” I curiously asked.
“Great, but I think I have to start working out,” she laughed.
“Are you still tired?” I asked, attempting to massage her shoulder, but she dodged my hand and chuckled.
“It’s fine as long as we get home by midnight,” she said.
I nodded, “You were supposed to wear Cinderella costume, Kimmy, but I’m okay with that, we just show up our costumes, get some boozes, and go home,” I responded.
“Where’s the venue of this party?” she asked.
“The nightclub in Midtown, it’s been three years in a row for this supermodel hosting the Halloween party there,” I replied.
“Oh, my God,” she took out her hand from my grip to cover her mouth.
“What’s wrong, Kimmy?” I asked.
“Dylan…I can’t,” she stuttered.
“Kimmy, please tell me?” I held her shoulders as she tried to breathe.
“It’s where the last time I met Daniel before he was being hospitalized and…”
“Do you want to cancel this? It’s fine, let’s just cancel this, don’t worry about it. Sorry I didn’t know,” I told her, “Zac,” I turned to Zac.
“Yes, Sir? Shall we turn around?” he asked.
Of course, he did listen to our conversation.
“Wait,” Kimmy’s voice stopped me from replying to Zac.
“Yes, Kimmy?” I asked her.
“Let’s just go on, I can do this, Dylan,” she said.
“Kimmy, you don’t have to force yourself,” I told her.
She shook her head in dark, “No, I can do this, Dylan.”
“Are you sure?” I asked for confirmation.
“Yes, I am,” she replied.
“Sir?” Zac asked me.
“Just drive as the plan, Zac,” I told Zac and held Kimberly’s hand, “Kimmy, you can always tell me to cancel or to go back anytime, okay?”
“Thank you, Dylan, I’m going to be fine,” she sighed and held my left arm tight.
I felt guilty for not carefully checking on her ex-boyfriend’s case. I squeezed her hand lightly, hoping that she will overcome her traumatic memory.
øøøøø
“Kimmy, do you believe in supernatural beings?” I asked, soon after she took a seat in the car.
“Like angels, God, and spirit?” she asked me back.
“No, more like ones in the horror movies,” I said, feeling like talking s**t.
Well, I do.
“Please be more specific, Dylan,” she told me with a small chuckle.
“Like vampire, perhaps,” I finally said it.
I wanted to laugh myself, but I just couldn’t.
“No,” she was quiet for few seconds before replying, “Absolutely not, why did you ask?”
I shook my head, “I don’t believe such thing also.”
“Then why did you ask about vampire? I did see some people wore convincing vampire costumes in the party,” she tried to cover her yawn.
I sighed and held her hand, “Nothing.”
“Dylan, you look weird after making a telephone call. Is something bothering you?” she asked softly, touched my hand.
I took her hand and smiled, “Nah, it’s probably nothing or even a prank.”
“What? C’mon, I’m curious now,” she lunged her body to my side.
“Hold on,” I told her and asked to Billy who was sitting quietly in passenger front seat, “Billy, do you know that Dayton had his iCloud connected to one of computer in IT department?” I asked him.
“No, Sir, but he bought new phone couple months ago and asked IT guy to help him transferring his data from former phone to new one,” he replied.
“Well, Dayton’s iCloud was still connected to one of computer in the IT department and they found out that his iCloud files had been erased so they tried to recover his iCloud drive and they sent me this weird video footage of his last file just before the accident,” I told him.
“May I see it, Sir?” he asked.
“Yes, of course,” I replied to him and turned to Kimmy, “It’s unpleasant footage, Kimmy,” I warned her.
“Please don’t forget that I’m a doctor, Dylan,” she instantly replied.
I took out my phone and opened a video file from Andrews, my chief technology officer and showed it to Kimmy first. The video took place in a basement’s parking lot, was taken by Dayton himself. It was obviously taken when I was about to call him. I couldn’t call him because of his poor reception, so I texted him.
“What was that?” she was confused after watching it, “Don’t you have to report it to the police or FBI maybe?” she continued.
“We don’t know yet if this has something to do with the accident, but yes, I should give this to the Fed,” I said and gave my phone to Billy.
I let Billy to play the video file several times until he returned my phone. At first, the content wasn’t really bother me as it wasn’t really clear, but after replaying it again over curiosity with sound on, I could see that it was indeed a neck biting.
Could they be just lovers with some neck biting fetish?
The eyes of the attacker were glowing red just like Oscar, my former Siberian Husky, but it could be just a video footage glitch although Andrews confirmed that the footage was still raw, unedited. A creeping feeling slipped into my gut as Dayton didn’t turn on the flash, but those eyes were still glowing red in the dark and he almost like sucked up the blood rather than just biting.
Could it be the reason of Dayton’s anxious behavior?
“Sir, may I give a suggestion? Let’s inform the Fed, but may I share it to Detective Cole too?” Billy spoke up.
“Yes, of course. Just don’t share to anyone else,” I told him and forwarded the file to him.
“Yes, Sir,” Billy replied.
“Excuse me, Billy, but did you refer to Detective Edward Cole?” she asked to Billy.
I raised my eyebrow, but she might know him from his ex-boyfriend’s case.
Daniel Bradsaw’s case.
“Yes, Doctor Vanderwood. He and Detective Hernandez were formerly assigned for Mr. Knight’s case,” Billy answered.
“Is he the one with black eyes? The younger one?” I asked to them.
“Yes,” Kimberly and Billy replied in unison.
He is surely a handsome one. The fact that Kimberly remembered his full name brought curiosity.
Is he another contender?
I shook my head, trying to calm my sense.
“What?” she asked me softly.
“What of what?” I asked her back and smirked.
“You shook your head,” she said.
I chuckled, took her hand, and kissed it, “Nothing,” I lied as I couldn’t let Billy and Zac eavesdrop to my silly jealousy.
“May I see the video again, Dylan?” she suddenly asked.
“Sure,” I gave my phone to her.
I couldn’t see her facial expression under the dim lighting, but her eyes were fixed on the glowing red eyes as she hit the pause.
“Dylan, I think I’ve seen the other man somewhere,” she said low.
“Really? Who is he?” I curiously asked.
“He looked like the deceased person from the car crash, Jackson Reid,” she replied and sighed, “But I could be wrong,” she continued.
“Patrick Madden’s driver? Well, Detective Cole can probably confirm it,” I responded and talked to Billy, “Did you send it to Detective Cole already, Billy?”
“Yes, Sir. I just did and also ask him to check Jackson Reid’s file,” he replied.
“Good,” I sighed.
“Who is Patrick Madden?” Kimmy asked.
“The man who owns several networks, his driver caused our car derailed, but the funny thing, he didn’t use his boss’s car, but a stolen car, while he was supposedly in the hotel waiting for his boss, Patrick Madden,” I explained.
“Could he be angry with Dayton for recording him with the man who bit him?” she asked.
“Could be yes or not, but I hope the footage can bring the light to the case, because as we already knew, Reid lost his heart too,” I uttered, “Where did you meet Jackson Reid, Kimmy?” I asked her.
“In the morgue, the next day after the crash,” she replied softly.
“Sir, Detective Cole is calling,” Billy informed.
“Take it, Billy,” I ordered.
Billy put Detective Cole on speakerphone, “Good evening, Mr. Stevens. I’m sorry to call you this late,” Detective Cole said.
“Good evening, Detective Cole. You’re on speaker. Did you check the footage?” Billy asked.
“Yes, I did. I have to make sure it’s authenticity first before making comment, but was it true that Doctor Vanderwood said that one of the man in the footage was Jackson Reid?” he asked.
“Yes, she just said it,” Billy said.
We could hear that Detective Cole cleared his throat, “Are you with her and Mr. Knight now?” he asked.
Kimberly crossed her arms to say no.
But Billy already replied, “Yes,” as he couldn’t see her.
Why did she not wanting Detective Cole to know that she is with me? Does she feel embarrassed or is there any other particular reason?
“May I confirm directly to them?” Detective Cole asked to Billy.
“Good evening, Detective Cole,” I greeted him.
“Good evening, Mr. Knight, Doctor Vanderwood,” he greeted.
She greeted him back and was quiet afterward.
“May I help you, Detective?” I asked.
“This is no longer our case anymore, Mr. Knight, I must say this in prior that you’re advised to let the FBI to seek through to this information, but unofficially I could still be assistance to the case. May I know how could you get the footage, Mr. Knight?” he asked.
“Mr. Andrews from IT department sent me information an hour ago about having Dayton’s phone data recovered as his iCloud was still connected to one of our computer and Mr. Andrews sent me his last file as he found it odd,” I explained.
“Did Mr. Andrews share the footage to others too?” he asked.
“I already told him to keep the footage out from others, but he said there are three people in his department already saw it,” I informed.
“I see. Do you think Mr. Dayton Booth was a little late to pick you up because of this incident in the basement?” he asked again.
“I don’t know, but judging from his behavior and the time, it could be. May I know whether you have checked camera footages from the basement parking lot, Detective?” I asked him back.
Billy couldn’t get the security footages because they have been erased.
“We’ve tried, but the security cameras in the basement were not recording that night,” he answered.
Not recording or being erased?
“Don’t you think it’s too coincidence, Detective?” I asked.
“I believe Mr. Dayton’s footage should be fully investigated, Mr. Knight. May I speak to Doctor Vanderwood?” he asked.
“Yes, Detective Cole?” Kimmy immediately replied.
“Are you sure the man who has been attacked was Mr. Reid? Did you recognize him from the morgue?” he asked to Kimmy.
“Yes, Detective, but I could be wrong too,” she answered.
“Can you recognize another man, the attacker?” Detective Cole asked her again.
“No, I’ve never seen him before,” she said.
“Well, I hope the FBI will check this possible link to the case. Thank you for your information and time, Gentlemen, Doctor Vanderwood. Good evening,” he ended the call.
øøøøø
“Let me take you up, Kimmy,” I held her hand as the car stopped in front of her apartment building.
“It’s late, Dylan. You don’t have to,” she smiled and patted my hand with her free hand.
“I want to,” I carefully pulled her out of the car and held her arms.
“Did you enjoy the party?” I asked, giving a nod to the doorman.
“Yes, I did. Thank you for taking me out tonight, Dylan,” she smiled, “I met Lauren in the bathroom, by the way.”
I c****d my eyebrow and pushed the elevator button, “You did? Why didn’t you tell me?” I asked.
I hope Lauren didn’t do or say something stupid.
“That’s okay, I could handle her,” she chuckled.
“Good,” I smiled, “Did she say something to you?”
“She’s definitely not over you, Dylan,” she spoke.
“Well, you have nothing to worry, Kimmy. I’m so over her,” I gazed at her from the full-wall mirrored elevator.
I sighed.
She is so beautiful.
She looked up and showed her cute smile, “I believe in you, Dylan.”
“Are you going to invite me in?” I joked.
She elbowed my waist, “Not a chance, we both have to work tomorrow.”
“If we don’t, then you’ll give me a chance?” I smirked.
“Maybe, for a cup of coffee,” she chuckled.
“Oh, c’mon, Kimmy. You didn’t give me a chance to kiss you the whole night,” I whined.
“We actually did, Dylan,” she pushed me back to the elevator after the door was opened and pressed the button to go down, “Good night,” she blew her hand to make a kiss.
I pressed the button to hold the door opened and pulled her inside.
“I’m not going back without a proper kiss,” I held her waist and kissed her lips.
She closed her eyes and put her hands on my chest.
“Good night, Dylan,” she whispered.
“Good night, Kimmy,” I slowly brushed my lips on hers again.
Kimberly’s POV:
I looked around again, having a feeling like being watched. The nightclub was so packed with people in extravagant costumes. The Halloween bash was obviously rowdy with energetic atmosphere. I put my glass on the table and tried hard not to look at the seat whereas Alexander and I was sitting when Daniel came over us that night.
When he was still alive.
I blinked, started to feel a haze over my eyes.
“Dylan, I have to go to bathroom to remove these contact lenses, I forgot to bring rewetting drops,” I spoke in his ear while he was talking with young actor wearing his own superhero costume in the last summer movie.
“Do you want a company?” he playfully whispered back, but in loud tone.
I hit his arm, feeling embarrassed as the actor might heard it.
“No, thank you,” I shook my head and got up to find my way to the bathroom among sea of people.
I pushed the door and put my purse on the counter top and washed my hands before taking out my contact lenses. I smiled to the two flirty vampires who were done with their business and went out. I looked to my reflection in the mirror, trying to calm myself. I sighed and used my index finger to remove the contact lenses.
“So you came,” a female voice startled me just after I took out my last contact lens.
I blinked and looked from the mirror and turned around seeing Lauren Miller in her Princess Jasmine costume.
“Miss Miller,” I smiled stiffly.
The actress didn’t return my smile and went to the basin next to mine, washing her hands. She was wearing sexy turquoise frock with a bronze detail right over her stomach.
Did she watch and follow me here?
I tried to ignore her and searched for my lipstick in the purse.
“Are you going to marry him?” Lauren casually asked me while applying her lipstick.
I intended to answer when she abruptly tossed her lipstick into the bin and stared at me.
“You’re clearly not so into him, so don’t marry him,” she said and left.
I shook my head in disbelief and grabbed my lipstick. There was catwoman staring at me with curious look on her face, knowing that a famous actress scolded me. I smiled to her and the friend in green alien skin with tight polyester black bustier and pants as they were about to leave.
“Vanderwood,” Lauren called out my name.
I turned around and sighed.
Why can’t you just leave me alone?
øøøøø
Something in the footage was bothering me.
Was it the glowing red eyes? Did the camera have night vision?
Because human eye lacks a tapetum lucidum, the light can’t bounce back under dim light conditions and as far as I know, red-eye effect happened when the flash is used in dim lighting, and mostly in the still image, not moving one. Vladimir told me that as he was into photography.
Did I say he was?
“May I see the video again, Dylan?” I asked, noticing that he’s kind of restless too.
“Sure,” he said, giving his phone.
I played the footage three times and tapped the pause when the attacker’s face slightly turned to the camera direction and the victim’s face was looking up in pain. The glowing red eyes reminded me of Alexander’s doppelgängeron the stretcher.
The dead Alexander.
Suddenly I remembered about my visit to the morgue. The man I was looking for, Jackson Reid, was on autopsy table.
“Dylan, I think I’ve seen the other man somewhere,” I blurted out.
“Really? Who is he?” he curiously asked.
“He looked like the deceased person from the car crash, Jackson Reid,” I replied, imagining his opened chest with missing heart, I sighed, “But I could be wrong.”
What was actually happened that night? Did Dylan’s chauffeur see something he wasn’t supposed to see and was after by the attacker? Who is the glowing red eyed man in dark suit?
He was so strong to be able to lift a big man with mere one hand.
Is he the man who took out the heart of four people that night?
I was shivered in fear, knowing that I probably have just witnessed a murder and the footage could be an underlying cause of the missing hearts case.
Elena’s POV:
“Kimberly, mother of dragons,” I called her out when she was walking through my door.
“Elena, hi,” she stopped and smiled.
“I saw you,” I gave her a knowing wink, “You look great by the way.”
She sheepishly chuckled, “Thanks. You didn’t go out for some candies?”
“Nah, I left my broom in Brooklyn,” I followed her joke.
“Who do we have here, Babe?” Lucas came out from my behind and hugged me, wearing nothing but damp towel around his lower waist.
The human subject sheepishly turned his face on me.
“Kimberly, this is my friend, Lucas,” I introduced them in sour tone.
“Hi, Kimberly,” Lucas said in flirty tone.
I pushed away his body and waived to the human subject, “See you around, Kimberly.”
“Good night, Elena,” she smiled and walked away.
I closed the door, but Lucas caged me in his arms.
“Is she a task from the prince?” he curiously asked.
His fingers were seductively running through my hair and then wrapping my neck.
“You would lose your stupid head if the prince caught you staring at her that way,” I warned him.
“So, you’re now babysitting a human? Who else guarding that precious one?” he mocked me, licked my neck, and teased it with his fangs.
“None of your f*****g business, Lucas,” I dodged her body and went to the bedroom.
I was still annoyed with the way he was looking up and down at the human subject.
“Then let’s have another f*****g business,” he already pinned me to the bed and undressed my top and shorts.
I moaned when he was sucking my n*****s hard and his fingers was toying at my c**t. I wrapped my legs around his waist.
“Don’t f*****g break the bed, Luke,” I warned and groaned as he thrusted his c**k inside.
I need his f*****g blood.
Alexander’s POV:
“May I come in, Your Highness?” Madeline softly asked.
She was standing in the doorway wearing black floor-sweeping tweed coatdress with leather boots. That was unusual look of hers.
“Yes, please,” I turned back my attention to gather some books.
She cleared her throat, standing by my desk, I raised my head.
“Do you want to talk? Please take a seat, Madeline,” I stared at her.
She gracefully took a seat and smiled, “I would like to go to New York with you, Your Highness,” she softly said.
I put the book I was holding on the table.
“Do you have particular reason to go?” I asked.
“I want to be your company there, Your Highness,” she said in low tone.
I sighed, “Madeline, you are free to go, this place was never meant a prison for you, but now is not the time for you to be around me,” I explained.
“May I know the reason, Your Highness?” she looked down to her lap.
“I’m busy and with the werewolf is still on the loose, I think it’s best for you to visit your family instead of New York,” I answered, “Is that all?”
Her mind was floating into mine, telling me that she wants to be with me, to be my real wife and even lover. I blocked her mind and walked away, standing by the big window. I could see blue lake down the cliffs.
Sky blue just like Kimberly’s eyes.
I closed my eyes and turned around.
“Your Highness, is it too late for me to be your real wife?” her voice was a little shaky.
She stared at me with flecks of blood in her corner eyes. I stood still for a second, before came to her, offering my handkerchief. She took it to sweep away her tears. I took a seat in front of her.
“Madeline, you do realize that we are together because of our parents. You are free to do whatever you desire the most, just don’t say empty words to me,” I said.
“I didn’t dare…” she stuttered.
I raised my hand to stop her, “I’m sorry for treating you bad, maybe you deserve better,” I continued.
She was stunned, “Your Highness, we were bonded for eternal life,” she almost whispered.
“And I’m sorry for that,” I said, feeling pity on her, “Now please excuse me, I have some works to do,” I told her and started to gather some books on the table.
Madeline stood up, gave me a bow, and left.
She saw the books.
I sighed, took the books, and teleported to my main lab in Georgia. I have just come back from Greenland and intended to bring some books before going to Georgia to complete some sequences and after that I have to check the new lab in The Hive. Adriana gave name to our database building in New York and insisted that we have to use the name. I have just monitoring the sequence when Nicholas called me.
“Please speak,” I spoke through my wireless earbuds.
“Brother, where are you?” he asked back.
“Dawsonville. Can you make it faster, I’m in the middle of important sequence here,” I told him impatiently while examining the modification of molecular structure of hemoglobin from the computer screen.
“I need to talk to you,” he said, “About Kimberly.”
I tried to press my curiosity, but I failed, “What about her?”
“Can we meet in person?” he asked, “I’ll be in Tribeca’s home, or shall I go to yours, Brother?” he continued.
“There’s no need. I’ll be there in an hour,” I hung up the call.
Now his call ruined my concentration.
I ordered him.
he replied in his mind.
In less than five minutes, I received messages with attachments. I looked at Kimberly’s smiling face. She looked ridiculous in that greyish winter costume, icy blonde hair, and lilac eyes as I prefer her luscious brown hair and beautiful blue eyes.
Or perhaps I’m just jealous because she was smiling to the camera, hand in hand with that human?
I also read that Peter was seen in the nightclub, it means Nicholas was there too, probably using another form.
How could she go to the place for such party after what has happened?
The place where she returned my kiss and seduced me back for the first time. Feeling down, I scrolled down to the further report.
“Your Highness, please excuse me. Shall we postpone phase five of our clinical trial in Yucatan’s lab?” Vasilii spoke over the phone.
“No, I’ll be there in two hours,” I answered.
“Very well, Your Highness,” he responded, but not hanging up.
“Is that all, Vasilii?” I asked.
“My apology, Your Highness, but Princess Madeline took a flight to New York just now, I thought you might want to know,” he said.
“Have the pilot to turn around now or change its destination, it’s my order. I have no time to go onboard now,” I ordered him and hung up.
What’s wrong with that woman, didn’t she listen to what I said earlier?
Madeline’s POV:
“I’m sorry for treating you bad, maybe you deserve better,” he coldly said.
I was feeling huge embarrassment rather than hurt. Fifty-six years of loneliness and this is what I get, an apology and advice that I need to find someone else.
Did I hear him wrong? Or did he forget?
“Your Highness, we were bonded for eternal life,” I carefully reminded him.
“And I’m sorry for that,” he said, staring at me with unreadable eyes, “Now please excuse me, I have some works to do,” he gave me a clue that our longest conversation ever was over.
As he started to gather some books on the table, I saw two of his oldest books, gamatjôand copulatio were among those. I stood up, gave him a light bow, and left to my chamber. He should know by now that I was wondering why he read and even took such books. Being alone for years, reading books was one of my daily routine. Prince Alexander has so many books collection in this castle alone and most of them were old ancient ones. I haven’t been able to read them all, as I don’t speak some of the old languages, but I did understand that those two books were related to human’s mate.
Please don’t tell me that he found his mate. A human mate.
I took my phone from the nightstand and dialed my brother, Christian. It took him four beeps until he took my call.
“Christian, my dearest brother,” I spoke.
“Dear sister. What’s the occasion?” he asked.
“What? Do I need reason to call my only sibling?” I asked him back.
“No, you surely don’t, Sis,” I could imagine that he was smiling.
“Christian, do you know something about the prince’s human mate?” I attempted to directly ask him.
“Did Prince Alexander tell you? Then, you should know it better than I do, Sis,” he replied.
“What do you know then?” I anxiously asked.
“Nothing more than Prince Nicholas has found his mate, a human mate, indeed,” he answered.
I sighed in relief, “Well, is that all you know?”
“Yes, that’s all. Although I heard some rumors from the other guards, that the king himself sent his private guard for the human, but I’m not so sure. Prince Nicholas didn’t assign me with that task,” he uttered.
She must be very important if the king himself meddled into this.
“Where are you now, Brother?” I tried to divert the topic.
“Chelyabinsk Oblastfor DNA collection,” he replied, “Wait, do you have something to say about the human mate, Sis?” he curiously asked.
“No, I don’t,” I answered shortly.
“Good, we are not supposed to talk about this matter. The two princes are not in good terms lately,” he said.
“They have never been, Christian,” I corrected his statement.
“I saw them myself, Sis. It’s getting worse now, especially because Prince Nicholas was staying in New York,” he sighed.
I was fully aware that Prince Nicholas is quite a person, just like Princess Adriana, the two are trouble makers to be precisely.
“Well, what can we do about it? Nothing,” I said.
“I can’t, but you can, Sis,” he told.
“Leave them alone, Christian. And please be careful, I heard there was some kind of problems in there,” I heard Vasilii mentioned about Kerch over the phone.
“I will, don’t worry, Sis. We’ll talk again, okay?” he was about to end the call.
“Frate,” I said our farewell habit.
“Soră,” he said and hung up.
I finally smiled, thinking about to give my husband a visit, but not before making a call to Count Adorjan Molnár first.
