Short Story 2: Two Spirits In The Laundry Room Part 1 When I was twelve, I encountered two different ghosts in the same laundry room. They were very real as they were terrifying. This will be in two parts, mostly because these were my last experiences at that time. But, I’m getting ahead of myself. Let’s start when it happened. It was around 10:00 PM, if I remember correctly. My mother and her boyfriend at the time, were on a date. After the usual fanfiction typing and video watching, I remembered that a new horror movie had been released that month. I found it odd as it was December, but I digress. I typed it up on YouTube and entered it in the search engine. The final scene, somehow in perfect quality, was placed on the video site. This was 2012 and there was no way it could have been good quality, but there it was. The room I was in was a sunroom. A room for plants, but we didn’t have any at the time. Just my mother’s PC. As the final scene reached its end, the villain, a ghost woman in a veil, turned her attention towards the camera. I received goosebumps and felt my blood run cold. At that moment, I felt a chill on my neck. It felt like a gust of wind entering the room. Turning back in surprise, I saw the window was shut. I placed my hand on it and tilted my head in confusion. The window was both closed and locked. I thought nothing of it as I left the room, passing by my dogs. I took quick but careful steps down the stairs and made my way to my bedroom. I then instinctively turned my attention to the laundry room. What I saw turned my blood to ice and heated my head into, what I realized years later, an intense adrenaline rush. It wasn’t possible. It could not have been possible. There were two reasons why. First, the space under the stairs was filled with boxes. Second and most important, the thing I saw was completely visible despite phasing into the boxes. It was a ghost woman…wearing a black veil and had a scarred face. It was the woman from the movie! But it couldn’t have been. Seeing it instilled fear in my heart. I felt my heartbeat in my throat and I gasped painfully. I did what any sane person would do…I bolted away. Where could I go? I ran into the bathroom only one door away. I fell to my knees by the toilet and began to cry. “God, please help me!” I pleaded in terror. I repeated the phrase over and over. Someone has to save me. I then heard a car pull up. I realized two things as I turned to the door. The first was that my mom and her boyfriend were home. The second…the bathroom door was wide open. My eyes widened in horror. What could I do? The minute the front door opened, I took a chance and ran past the room and made it upstairs. My mom's boyfriend, I’ll call him Bill, looked at me in shock. “What’s wrong?” He demanded. “There-there-there was-“ I tried to say but my voice couldn’t make it past my stuttering. Bill looked at me sternly. “What? Tell me what it is!” He practically shouted. I was going to tell them. They had to believe me. My mother HAD to believe me this time. “A ghost,” I finally said. “A woman in a black veil. She was staring at me!” I explained. Bill blinked, a straight face painting his features. “Alex. There is no such thing as ghosts,” he replied, disappointed. Even my mother shook her head in disappointment. “But-“ I tried only for Bill to raise a hand. When he did that, it meant that he didn’t want to hear it. “Alex. Do NOT lie. I don’t care what you say you saw,” he began in anger. “Lying will get you nowhere.” I opened my mouth again, only for him to growl in anger. “Go to your room. I don’t want to see you until morning.” I turned to my mother in sadness. She simply nodded her head in agreement. I sighed, heartbroken. “Yes sir,” I replied hurtfully and walked downstairs to my room, making sure to not look into that cursed laundry room…
